  1. Alan Smith as a replacement for Dyer... probably not a bad signing IMO. Tad on the pricey side but it does keep the midfield (if you consider him as an attacking midfielder) fairly well stocked with options. A completely different kind of player mind you, but I think it's a good signing as long as we DO buy some defenders!
  2. Hmm, people need to get off Sams back. The players we really want are simply NOT going to want to sign for a club that finished mid table and out of Europe unless they're sure that we'll be back in Europe & challenging for some domestic honors in the near future. Sams doing his best to assemble a team and for whatever reason we are apparently in a lull, be it because of cash or players not being convinced of where we're heading. As much as I would love for us to win the league or challenge for the top 4, I think people need to get a sense of perspective... just cause you reckon we should be signing world class players does not mean you'll find one to play for us. This isn't Champ Manager, its real life. So give it time. ...
  3. Did that commentator just say "a pass out to the rampaging Carr" ??!?!
  4. WHU fans were calling for NUFC to be relegated? When did I miss *that* one?
  5. Yeah, "trading suspended" only applys to the trading of shares on the stock-exchange. It's a rule to stop companys trading when their share price becomes or is likely to become excessively volatile due to uncertainty.. which is nothing new for NUFC. It doesn't stop the day-to-day running of the club and how we spend our cash though. However with the ownership of the club up for grabs it may make the situation somewhat harder.
  6. Wish it were true as he beats Big Sam in every department, unfortunately I imagine it's the work of a comic non-genius. Would have been a great one though, a World Cup winning pedigree is exactly the no-bull kinda of leadership we need when it comes to certain pampered players!
  7. Worth it - especially if your outside of the UK. 1) You can listen to every game, which is something those of us outside the UK can't do with 5live (they block non-UK users). 2) Highlights of all the games, including goals -- again useful when St James is rather far away and the game in question isn't on TV.
  8. Wow, thats special.. in the special needs kinda sence.
  9. Agreed. We should be looking at 2 new fullbacks before we start looking upfront. Assuming the wise-men find us some defenders a striker on loan would not be a bad option.
  10. Right this is obviously a TAD optimistic.. but 7th does seem like a Roeder kind of number. Jan 1st. Man Utd 57 Chelsea 51 Liverpool 43 Arsenal 40 Everton 36 Spurs 34 Newcastle 31 Bolton 31 Reading 30 Villa 29 Portsmouth 28 Wigan 27 Middlesbrough 25 Man City 25 Fulham 24 West Ham 23 Blackburn 19 Sheff Utd 19 Charlton 12 Watford 11

Not the best alternative is it. Lets just hope we actually buy some defenders in a few weeks time.

Regardless of whether the guys got the skill to play at this level or not, booing him during a game is surely only gonna play into the hands of the opposition -- burn him in effigy outside perhaps -- but abusing the guy during the game is akin to shooting ourselves in the foot (although that is what we pay the management for). It will make him nervy and even worse, and put the rest of the team on edge. In any case, given the injuries theres not much we can do up until Jan 1st other than grin and bear it, and continue to debate the ethics of booing your own team.. (aka what sunderland fans must enjoy seeing).
  13. And blinkers on.. Oliver will tow the party line for fear of being out of the loop. That said, there comes a point where what he writes and says is going to differ soooo badly from reality that it will be amusing. Right now it's just annoying.
