I heard that the journos were also having the same problem and had been speculating it was for the reason you mention. Also meant to be the same down at Sunderland.
-
I'd say him and Barton are our two most important players. True but without Carroll, who would take advantage of Barton's crosses. Nolan occasionally but that is it.
-
He is our team at the minute. Sell him and I think it all fall to pieces very quickly. He is our only striker of note - the rest are not up to much. Ranger is promising and is good at being a nuisance and causing panic but heaven help us if we have to reply on him for goals. I hope Ashley will see the value of building a team around him as the club is more valuable with Carroll here. The club are getting a lot of publicity on the back of Carroll being a Newcastle player and that means (although I hate to say it) more publicity for his other business. Also, a higher profile Newcastle United on the back of an exciting young player is surely more likely to attract a buyer rather than a nondescript average to poor club with average and dull players. As always it depends what Ashley wants out of Newcastle and none of us have a clue about that.
-
Even if he wants to cut his losses, he still needs a buyer and there does not appear to be anyone interested in us.
-
I always thinks he starts playing in the last 15-20 minutes. He only seems to start taking players on and going past them later in the game.

This and if a plyer deserves a wage rise I.e Ranger, give him one Give him what he's worth. Plus all players should get the same win bonus. It's so unfair if somebody like Carroll gets a higher win bonus than somebody like Simpson because they both would have played their part in the win. I thought the club had got rid of all the bonus payments. If they haven't done so yet, they certainly have been trying to do so.
-
I think there would be a problem with wages for most of the decent Spurs players.
-
I could imagine Villa as a far more realistic option than West Ham for him as they could pay the wages he would be looking for. I just think Ashley isn't keen on him and with 18 months left on his contract, they will have to discuss a new one soon but I am not sure Barton would agree to a drop in wages. Hopefully though, we keep him for this season.
-
And the way Spurs do deals, it is not as if they would be getting the fee in one go - it would be strung out over a period of time. Premier League survival is worth more money than a short term gain on the accounts. Don't they say that being in the Premier League is worth £40-£50m? Well that is what Ashley would be jeopardising if he sold Carroll next month.
-
If he was to leave in January, what kind of impact would that have on the team and our chances of staying in the Premier League? Virtually all of our goals are either scored or created by him so at this stage, he is irreplaceable. There is no way that we would take Crouch or Keane in part exchange - two underperforming players who probably would not want to come in the first place and who would want twice the salary that Carroll is presently on. Even if Ashley is interested in cashing in, surely it is too big a gamble even for him at this stage of the season?
-
Can't believe a word any of them say. If a player comes good, they are all queueing up to claim credit and if they flop, they blame others. Just happy Carroll is here and I don't think he will be going anywhere for the time being. Ashley needs to be seen to be backing Pardew and as Pardew has been very vocal about receiving assurances that Carroll will not be sold then Ashley cannot start undermining his manager within a month of appointing him otherwise Pardew instantly loses all credability (if he has any) with the supporters and players.
-
Is that Taylor sat next to Carroll?
-
They would get an awful lot more money for him in a couple of years if he keeps improving at this rate and by then, maybe we could survive his loss. At the moment, he is irreplaceable and it would be a huge gamble to sell him. If he leaves, I want it to be after he has achieved something here and made a major contribution to our history of number 9s.
-
Have read that it is not likely to be him. Wally Downes and Chris Powell are both mentioned today.

From Scott Wilson on Twitter Interesting news from #NUFC. New assistant manager expected before end of week, but now sounding like it WON'T be Ray Lewington.
-
Love it. Seems such a great guy.
-
taylor has form on this sort of thing however as does stretford, and with "supposed interest" from "big clubs" its not hard to put 2 and 2 together Remember the club are very good at getting their propaganda out there and unfortunately too many people fall for it. For all we know he could have turned down the contact (if he has) for reasons other than money. I don't want him to leave but wouldn't blame him if he does as I think the club have let him down on a few occasions.
-
I seem to recall that he said he was carrying an injury when he first arrived.
-
Jose's tweets make me smile. He seems very friendly.
-
Dodgy Corrupt FA. Well at least we will never suffer from any of his decisions seeing as he supports us.
-
How many goals has he scored in this calendar year? Most of last season's came after January.
-
Apparently, Hughton also wanted Lewington. And being sidelined by Hughes isn't a reflection on his ability as Hughes as a record of doing that when he joins a club.
-
I think West Ham would be a bad move. I am not sure if he could turn a struggling club around in time to stave off relegation. I think he is better at developing a club and a club like Ipswich would be a good move. He could take his Bobby Robson picture with him as well.
-
Lucky we have 4/5 penalty takers in the squad - has not always been the case.
-
Well Barton said in the Talksport interview that Llambias has told them their reasons and they have no choice but to accept they are telling the truth - which kind of implied that he didn't think they were.
