  1. He is an Arsenal season ticket and attends games regularly with his son.
  2. They said Radio Tyneside. Hospital Radio?? I know Hospital Radio used to commentate on Newcastle games.

Thought when we were 3-1 down, how many West Ham fans would have been left in their stadium in that situation. Thought that although it got quiet at the worse points in the game, the crowd generally stayed with the team and once sensing a chance really got behind them.
  4. My boycott of SD has been easy to uphold because I refused to go in long before Ashley bought Newcastle and before I had ever heard of him. I just couldn’t stand the shop and the claustrophobic feel with everything crammed altogether and piled high. Expect it is better today but have no interest in finding out. Persuaded my Mam to boycott which she still does - much to the amusement of my brothers and their wives when she goes shopping with them and will stand outside waiting for them rather than enter the store.
  5. Total Sport have just said we have sold over 3000 tickets for Saturday..
  6. If we qualify for Europe, won’t we need to keep him to fulfil the homegrown criteria?

Had the same issue yesterday. Very confusing especially when there was already a delivery method pre-selected. Eventually realised as you did, that I needed to update my profile.

For me, if they have to move, it can only be to another city centre location. There will be additional problems to consider if they moved away from the centre. A stadium outside of the city would have major transport issues. The majority of traffic including public transport would be heading back to Newcastle for onward travel whilst currently the traffic goes in all different directions. Most can get away relatively quickly whether that is to the metro, bus, car park, pubs etc. An out of town stadium would need huge improvements to the public transport infrastructure. Build huge car parks and it will take forever to get away. They might want to keep the bars etc open after a game but with the increased journey time many will want to leave quickly promptly. Rearranged kick off times will be even more of a problem for those who travel to games from distance. I think being in the city has helped the club in bad times as people have continued to go. Easier to sack it if when it is a pain to get to. And of course there are the economic benefits to local businesses with being based in the city.
  9. I was introduced to the Busway when we played at Luton in December. It is a bus that comes off the road and then goes on to a tram line. Stops outside the ground. Once it is on the tramline, it is really quick and I think I paid £2.20 one way. If parking near the ground proves difficult as I was told it would be (albeit that was for a first team game) then parking near the busway might be an option. Got away pretty quickly after the game as well.
  10. This season’s points deduction should have happened last season but didn’t due to the protracted process of their hearing and if had done then Everton would have been relegated. They made changes this season so that these breaches are addressed more promptly hence this possible second points deduction hanging over them. They got lucky last season and now have plenty of time to win enough games to safely avoid relegation even if they get a further points deduction.
  11. Pretty sure Pearce is a Bristol City supporter.
  12. A Howe pre-season is said to be really tough. The US tour would have curtailed that to some extent and I wonder if that has also contributed to our shortcomings this season. Something else he will have to learn to adapt to as such tours will be the norm from now on.
  13. But if we qualify for Europe, would we then not have an issue with the number of homegrown players.
  14. De Bruyne and Doku both came on as subs today. De Bruyne has been out since August I think. No idea how long Doku has been out for.
  15. I was in the top tier too and thought the atmosphere was very good as well.

Yes - 3 with us and 1 at Sunderland. Think it is the younger one (Mason) at Newcastle who is meant to be the best of the 3. He is a box to box midfielder. The youngest (Layton) is at Sunderland’s Academy and is a defensive midfielder.
  17. With injured players returning, you don’t know how long they need to get back up to speed. Some players come back and it is like they have never been away whilst others need a number of games before they start looking like their normal selves
  18. Mourinho would be the complete opposite to what they have claimed they are trying to achieve. He doesn’t develop young players and wants a ready-made team that usually costs a fortune which would be a problem with FFP. He doesn’t do sustainable growth and it would all fall apart very quickly when he falls out with players and the hierarchy.

Also very fortunate that their development has happened post Ashley and Bruce. Ashley would sell at the first offer whilst Bruce would have destroyed them.
  20. It was one of those games where it felt like whatever they did PSG were not going to score from open play. Reminded me of the Krul game vs Spurs and the game v Man Utd back in 1996. Also remember a home game against Fulham under Bobby Robson where we battered them but the goalkeeper had the game of his life throwing himself at everything with the ball even rebounding off his face at one point. These games happen. I don’t get the accusation that we did not deserve anything because we played badly. We were the better team for a large part of the first half and we defended very well in the second half. It was not as if we were hanging on from minute one and it was inevitable that we would tire at some point especially after they were able to bring on fresh legs
  21. Other than it is Liverpool fans, I don’t know why they are getting so hysterical about the outcome yesterday. It is only a temporary reprieve anyway until the Premier League put together a more coherent plan. The vote was rushed to address the January window only.
  22. I like tickets. Have all mine for football, concerts and anything else since the 70s. Sad maybe but they bring back forgotten memories whenever I look through them.
  23. I was an away season ticket. Think it was targeted at those who went to every (almost every?) game and they were invited to join the scheme or maybe it was based on loyalty points. It started quite early on under Ashley’s ownership. I am sure I opted out for one season due to medical reasons but was allowed back in the next season. It was good not having to remember to apply for tickets as they were automatically sent out. Think there might have been about 500 to start with but I might be wrong about that. Think LFEE is right about it being about locking people in. It was probably also around the time that the club decided to take reduced allocations for every game so they didn’t have to pay for unsold tickets.
  24. The media are always complaining about the lack of opportunities English managers get. Now there is one, they are constantly trying to talk him out of a job. This is as much a learning curve for him as it is with the rest of his management team and also the majority of players. Plus you couldn’t get a harder group. If you want English coaches to become elite coaches then you need to give them time to learn and improve. I have no doubt he will learn from this and be better next time. You have to learn how to play in Europe and that takes time. Champions League football is such a huge jump and maybe it might have been easier to have played in the Europa League first.
