Especially this season where it looks as if we are going to have a much more mobile attacking midfield unit than we've had in the last few seasons. With Ben Arfa back and if this Marveaux turns out to be any good as a winger along with Ferguson, then I think Jonas would be ideal in a roaming midfield role where he could buzz around and frustrate the opposition. People seem to be playing far too much Football Manager on here. A player's position is not set in stone in the real world and teams should be flexible. A decent manager should experiment and try ideas such as this. They train everyday don't they? No. He would be of no use there because of the reasons i mentioned. Well if you're talking about an inability to look after the ball and him being technically poor then you must be talking about a different player to me. All good points, his age is definitely in his favour, his 'confidence player' side might even out. Jonas in the middle of three is never gonna work. Yes he can put his head down and dribble, he has a good work rate but passing and football intelligence is awful so he's better be used out wide!!

The only solution I see is 442 with Ben arfa behind ba, or a 433 with Ben arfa lining up as one of the forward 3 but drifting in like he did when he played for us at the beginning of the season. Other than goals and leadership abilities (which are very important btw)he offers absolutely nothing to our team. I would like to see him here for one more year, help new players to adjust and maybe start 50% of the games. Xavi doesn't score many goals but what he brings to the team in terms of passing, creating changes for others and controlling games is invaluable. I would rather have a player like that. Let's face it he's hasn't got the quality to start every game for a team challenging for Europe and that's what we should be aiming for.
