honest question, if they canned pardew and appointed say laudrup or someone like martinez (whoever that may be) but were very upfront about the fact they're not going to spend much money would you but a ST on that basis? i.e. you'd be looking at better football, a manager who knows what he's doing and wants to win football games but won't be provided much in the way of resources Nope, i still wouldn't go.

Having read that article, to be fair to Mike Ashley, the terms of the share bonus (worth about £65m) only reward success and not failure. If the company doesn't perform he doesn't get the bonus. From Sports Direct's point of view he's doing an absolutely incredible job. From a Newcastle fans point of view, he is cutting off or options.

The Mag claiming the club are now offering cheaper 5 year season ticket deals, only thing is there is no get out option. You are signed in for 5 years.

How much was the deal compared to adidas? Didn't sheps sign a good deal with Adidas ?? How much is the Puma deal worth?

Pretty spot on that. The prosperity of a town cannot be shored up by public money, eventually the citizens and planners have to make it happen themselves and in that respect Newcastle and Sunderland have gone in very different directions in recent decades. There is no better illustration of the difference in the two cities than that provided by the high paid employees of Sunderland Football Club themselves. While none of them would live or spend any time voluntarily in Sunderland itself, their management and players often live in Newcastle and are regularly seen socialising in and around the city. This extends even to Sunderland born "mackem icons" who, as soon as they become successful or wealthy, flee the place to set up home in Newcastle's more affluent neighbourhoods. There was a great prog on TV the other night, with Evan Davies who hosts The Dragons den. Talking about London being a massive of hub of investment and drawing people from all over the country towards it. He went on to talk about hubs being the future to generate growth. Newcastle and Durham were mentioned, Sunderland wasn't. Tho I'd image that any regional hub would be Newcastle, Durham, Gateshead and Sunderland acting as one. I see the government has given the go ahead for our regions councils to merge as one. maybe the begining of this regional hub.

On staff night out, they were all quiet at first...they had been to wembo for the final.
