  1. It is sad to hear football clubs are actually conducting research into things like that, it really is. Mostly because, even if they said, "we're doing it so we can make better informed decisions", everyone knows that what that means is "find some statistics to justify a total lack of ambition". I will never understand why clubs like you, us, or others with no chance of winning the league again, but have "expectations", show such scant fucking regard for cup competitions. It's the only chance of winning things. In fact, scratch that, I do know why they act like that - because winning things isn't what drives them any more, it is all about what goes in the accounts at the end of the year. If being a football supporter is underpinned by something as fucking blank and emotionless as balance sheets, we might as well all stop bothering with the game, and start following the FTSE index or something.
  2. How fucking depressing is this for all concerned? Interesting, good points about FFP, too. The ladders have been pulled up. http://www.thejournal.co.uk/sport/sport-opinion/agenda-aston-villa-experience-alter-7116825?
  3. He's a nice bloke, but needs to be absolutely nowhere near the control seat of a sporting institution. Either side of the Atlantic.
  4. It'll be more Americans. He's good at selling sports, err, "franchises". He flogged the Cleveland Browns for nigh-on a billion dollars last year.
  5. ... Jesus, what's that like?! He has cut spending way, way too quickly for my liking, and made some truly awful decisions (I mean, he actually thought that taking Alex McLeish from Birmingham just after they'd been relegated playing awful football and appointing him to our job would actually *work* FFS), but there is absolutely no doubt he is a good bloke at heart. I do not think for one nanosecond he'd sell us to wankers.
  6. Jealous. Surely that depends on who he sells to? I hope Mike Ashley sells us to get the cash to buy you. No offence. Ha ha, no worries. One thing I do trust Lerner about is that he'd make sure he didn't flog to mentalists. Which is something which, much to his credit, Doug Ellis did. Ellis was approached by Gillette and Hicks before Randy came in, but sent them packing as he'd sussed them out. I think Lerner will have the same approach. I just hope that it really is true that a deal is done or almost done, because after four years of being spoon fed warm vomit week after week, a summer of shitness and uncertainty means almost certain relegation.

  8. Our players are taking this season's horribleness pretty badly, I see. http://pbs.twimg.com/media/BnY4MzpIMAEn51e.jpg I hope the coach plunges off a cliff.
  9. Seems like you played well today. You must be joking, we were pathetic. The fans were amazing, though. It's a horrible mess.
  10. If Shearer says after this that Lambert has done a good job, I'm going to put my fucking foot through my telly. Twice.
  11. I saw that but assumed my eyes were deceiving me
  12. Was a hero for me on my Villa save on FM14. Good Irishman too. Born in Solihull Pretend Irishman. In fairness, like about 20% of the population of Birmingham. Go on, Lambert, chuck him on.
  13. I'd love, love to see us bring Jack Grealish on now. Spent the season on loan at Notts County, did brilliantly, local lad, weighs about 6 stone, lots of natural skill, boyhood Villa fan, only came back from loan yesterday. Stick him on, what the fuck. What an experience it'd be for him.
  14. Honestly, if they came up against us at full strength, ie with Benteke, Agbonlahor, Okore, even Kozak available and struggled like that, you'd raise an eyebrow. However, no Agbonlahor, no Benteke, next to no pace on the counter, nothing to play for, and up front we have got Bowery, a player bought from Chesterfield, who has become a byword amongst Villa fans for our hopelessly optimistic transfer policy. A player we sent on loan to Doncaster who was shit even at that level. If they can't beat us convincingly (and they still may), they don't deserve to win the title.
  15. I understand they're tense and it's raining and what not, but why is there such a poor atmosphere at the Etihad?
  16. Price? 220m or something like that. Lerner paid 65m. However, it is pretty amazing that even buying and then selling for such a higher fee, he will still have lost loads of money over that period. The way we have been run has been nuts. So many expesnive, not very good players, on massive wages, walking away for nothing. Lerner's been a good one for providing the cash (till last two seasons), but has zero idea how to run a football club. A fool and his money etc etc. By the time he realised MON was f***ing nuts and put his foot down, it was too late. Apparently, this is believed to be the conversation which caused MON to walk out. MON: "I want to buy Aiden McGeady" Lerner: "How much will it cost?" MON: "As much as it takes" Lerner: "Which is how much?" MON: "As much as it takes". You're fucking off your nut if you buy a football club like. Hiding to nothing. I have no idea why otherwise clever men decide to do it. Fucking idiots.
  17. Don't worry, forget about Sergio Aguero, Sergio Tacchini could navigate his way past Nathan Baker with ease, and he's in his late 70s now. Although, saying that, I shall genuinely be having a few pennies on the draw. Seriously.

  19. Our takeover is definitely happening, apparently. Announced next week. All people seem to know is that it is more Americans. Knowing our luck, Gillette and Hicks.
  20. Is that real? yes I noticed that during the coverage, too. Amazing head.
  21. *chuckles* Actually, I fancy us to get a point. Seriously. We've beaten them once this season.
  22. Stick that up your fanny, you star-diving peanut headed cunt, Gerrard
  23. That was the most fun I've had watching a football match for at least three seasons.
  24. Fuck me, laughing like a twat.
