I've never seen anyone else manage to speak so long without actually saying a fucking thing as that David Craig

This failed medical thing is doing the rounds down here as well.

philmcnulty Phil McNulty And the comfirmation. Liverpool have agreed a £35m fee for Andy Carroll. Always said the January window is quiet. #fb

Everyone seems to have overlooked that. If you were selling him, it'd happen later on tonight, and no need to cancel a press conference, surely? Far more likely he's working on bringing someone in. I notice, for example, that the Bradley to us deal isn't done yet, which means the Ireland to you one almost certainly isn't.
-
That's a bit harsh. Every player has a price, if we let Carroll go for upwards of £35m, we're not exactly a 'selling club' There's only one chairman in the league who would not think about doing a deal for that kind of money.
-
How, you've spent £24M on 1 decent striker for that. No. We've spent 18m which rises to 24 if all add ons are activated. Caroll is a good player, and very promising, but 30 million for a young player with a decent season in the CCC and half a good one in the top flight is an awful lot of money.
-
30 million pounds is insane money. That's a team building amount of cash. I think you should take it, or at the very, very least, give it serious consideration.
-
Warnock on loan is the rumoured replacement. Please, God, please
-
That northern reporter on SSN - the one who always looks a bit bewildered - just said he can "exclusively reveal" that 30m pound bid we're discussing above. I hate SSN
-
I fucking hate SSN, especially on deadline day, but I can't help watching this shit.

Water off a duck's back.

There's plenty of that going on all through the league,we're doing the same with Kyle Walker for Spurs. Loans. They're the new, errr, something else.

You're saying he's choosing to come to Newcastle, but he was leaned on to go to Villa without any real evidence for either of them. However, if we're into conjecture, I suspect he's probably been leaned on to move to you, to be honest. He's clearly never going to play for us again if he carries on like this, and it is in our interest to move him on. Like I said, I've no issue with him moving on, we're bringing in Bradley who is by all accounts a decent player, and his head is going to be in a better place than Ireland's for the rest of the season. Everyone knows what SI can do, it is just a question of whether mentally he can deliver it with any regularity. I hope he does, but it's a bit too convenient to pin his failure to do so on the circumstances of his previous move. He hadn't been pulling up many trees at Man City prior to that, either.

See, that's the thing, nobody forces players to do anything these days. I hope he does very well with you, too, as it means we'll either sell him to you, or we'll have him back after having put in a decent few months. The problem is, this thread contains lots of the things I saw when he joined us. 1. "He's got something to prove" 2. "He's very talented" (this bit is true) 3. "He's been forced out of City, he'll flourish in this environment" 4. "Who cares if he's mental, he just wants to play football" (he didn't) 5. "He was fantastic two years ago, if we can get that back, we've a hell of a player" 6. "All that lying about his gran / miscarriages / whatever stuff is in the past" (it wasn't, he started pulling tricks with us) etc etc etc. The issue i have with him is that I strongly suspect he's so utterly bonkers, he's never going to get it sorted. Point 6 seems harsh. As for the Villa fans that aren't fond of us so be it, that's a small group of a larger fanbase who probably weren't too happy to be humped 6-0 by the league's new boys. Why is it harsh? It's true. Ruling himself out with a virus / sickness, then getting spotted out on the piss on the same night.

All deals come with risk these days, innit. it's interesting how many deals are done as loans nowadays, though. I guess, like you said, that limits the risk somewhat. I bet I come back on here in four weeks time, though, and you're all saying he's fucking bonkers.

I don't know, I haven't observed any. It seems a bit daft to infer any kind of great loathing on the postings of a few internet mongs. There are equally mongish people on here who give me all sorts of shit about Villa, and you don't have to look far on here for examples of people saying how much they hate us / want us to go down etc. People will be people. I bet that quote is from VillaTalk, though, which makes RTG look like the musings of Alain de Botton.

Has he signed for you then? Loan or perm?
-
Apparently, some bloke called Spahic, who i believe is a CB cum LB, is signing for us.

I thought Spurs were meant to cruise to cup glory in years that end in a one?

Don't really follow this .... what do you mean by players like that? Team players, looking after the younger lads. As far as I see it , Villa have a bunch of self-concerned players I don't really see that. Petrov is a wise old midfielder, for example, and also we have a squad full of youngsters, many of whom have played and done very well in the first team, who seem to be exceptionally well adjusted. Ireland is 24, incidentally, he's hardly a teenager.
-
Very talented lad, but he's utterly wrong in the head. I think taking him away from his comfort zone, what he was used to at City, has just exposed how mental he is. All that bollocks about "ooh, I've got a virus so I can't play" then being spotted out on the piss the same evening got on my tits. For 70k a week, you expect better than that. I hope he turns it around with you, because he's got talent, but thus far, fair play to Houllier for shipping the whingers / malingerers / deadwood out. First Carew, now Ireland, and hopefully Warnock - who apparently whinges and moans so much, and disrupts the squad so badly, he's been training with the reserves for the last two weeks

It's a knee injury, and that's definitely what he said - now serious. The fact Ireland is up with you lot today must mean our Bradley deal is going through
