Fairly sure they had a bit of a poorer season the season before they went down. I’m not sure where I read this, and it’s possibly not even true, but Howe supposedly was going to step down the summer prior to the going down but they talked him into staying.

My favourite season watching us. Proper buzz around every home game, if the season never halted for the World Cup we’d have finished even higher imo.

Aye that first half was class, second was closer. Was nervous after they pulled one back. I was in the Directors Box for the first and only time with work. Atmosphere was fucking class.

Fair point, they have hired highly regarded people. One of my concerns is that they seemingly don’t empower people enough. Would be interested to know how much say Hopkinson has over big projects and whether or not he had to run everything by people in Saudi. This is one of the worries I have should we elect to change manager in the summer. How quick would a replacement come?

Probably the easiest season ever to get into Europe and we’re seemingly incapable of even drawing a game let alone win. Depressing.

“Another summer and we’ll be better” Could completely derail whatever is left of the project. As has been said hundreds of times, what he’s achieved here has been incredible, but the future looks bleak.

Seen us go to the Emirates and play much worse than that, but ultimately it’s another defeat and another game we barely looked like scoring. Don’t think it’s fair to say he’s lost the players, there was plenty effort and fight there. However, it just feels that we’ve been found out and there needs to be a fresh approach next season. Next week is probably a nothing game for us in terms of league position etc, but it could get fairly nasty if things go as they have for a while now.
