They weren't that good, but we were worse and that was down to us, not them. Semantics. "They were good and we were not." "They weren't good but we were worse." Might as well be the same thing. Fact of the matter is the quality in their squad makes ours look like sunday league.

Spurs today were as bad as any team we've played recently. Bullshit. Annoys the piss out of me how some people think they "weren't that good" just because they weren't pissing all over us with 80% possession. Anyone with eyes could see the difference in class between us and them.
  3. We've been "in a relegation fight" for the past four months, don't see why we should be sweating as if we'd just now fallen into it.

Aye. Interesting, Wigan is his first match against a team that's actually as shit as we are.
  5. Pretty much a coin toss. Don't even want to bother speculating but man it is going to feel like shit for the next week if we YET AGAIN walk away with nothing from this pile of shit excuse for a team again.
  6. All of our attacking players other than Nolan and Carroll are suffering from a confidence crisis right now, which is understandable considering that they've barely done anything of note for the entire fucking season.
  7. The only position I'd put the "urgent" label on is striker. Pretty much do or die. Otherwise it's not going to be easy to get players who are an improvement on what we have with the kind of money we have who would be willing to come here in January.

Spurs were not very good today but we showed no adventure at all and we played into their hands, we gave them the points. Hard to "show adventure" when you're playing against a side who are so much better than you are. We need to stop conflating "not having overwhelming possession" with "not being very good." They had us bottled up just the way they wanted to and hit us on the counter attack at their leisure.
  9. Competitive with this lot? we used to rape them. Well, those are nice memories to hold on to as they proceed to beat the shit out of us for the next decade or so.

Personally, I think the players are operating under the exact same instructions they got from Hughton. It's easy to bring out the "long ball tactics" card when there's something wrong with your team but you can't put your finger on exactly what it is. At this point, the gap between us and Spurs is pretty much just as large as the gap between us and Man United. We got tonked by a vastly superior team and that's really all there is to it. I think there's every chance that Pardew could take us down for various non-tactical reasons, but tactically, he hasn't shown anything so far that could illicit an educated guess either way.
  11. Pretty depressing how the fortunes of these two clubs have gone in exactly opposite directions over the past five years. We used to be competitive with this lot. When will that happen again?
  12. Looking at players like Bale, Modric, Van der Vaart, and Lennon and looking at the our players makes me wonder a bit why we even bother to play football.
  13. I don't see how getting 0 points from two games where we should have expected 0 points changes anything. Performance today was terrible, but we were never beating Spurs 2 days after our last match with two of our best players missing.

Lets put this in the proper context: we lost two games against two sides who are infinitely better and who we will not be in direct competition with us for anything for the forseeable future. Pardew's not helping, of course.
  15. One attacking option. Hit it to carroll We have had two attacking options all season. Carroll, and Nolan off a Carroll flick-on. No surprise that we struggle when one is missing.
  16. This is the sort of game that could convince him that he needs to leave. He's blatantly too good for us and the gap between him and the rest of the squad is just embarrassing. Tottenham didn't even have to break a sweat even after going down to 10. Other than Carroll not a single one of our players on the pitch would make it within a mile of their first team squad. You might be able to accept that the "top 4" are on a different playing field to begin with, and Man City to an extent, because they have infinite money, but once you realize just how far away we are from other teams with similar resources... You start wondering why you're wasting the best years of your career here.
  17. We barely deserve to be in the same league as this lot, theyre just so much better. Not one meaningful goal attempt in 90 minutes. I know its a weakened squad but this is an embarassing preformance
  18. Gulf in quality is just so large. This is barely even a contest.
  19. We're resting players for a match we have little to no chance of winning to begin with. Sensible, I suppose.
  20. Should I even watch this? Jesus, here comes the hurt...
  21. With Nolan out and the fatigue levels (and the fact that they're just so much better than us), we have little to no chance of getting anything out of this game. Wouldn't mind resting players.
  22. Not to mention the two we pissed away two years ago because of a bent ref.
  23. Manchester City is officially my least favorite football team ever.
  24. I wouldn't read too much into our spell of possession. Mancini doesn't want his team to have the ball right now: they're letting us do all the hard work and stifling us where it counts. Far more likely to concede a third off a counter.
  25. There's an argument for Harper's reinstatement. Krul has been making that kind of mistake regularly, we just haven't had to pay for it before. That said, I don't have a conclusive opinion either way. I think he'll be dropped though.
