I've been assuming the title of this thread was sarcastic all along until I accidentally clicked on page one just now and saw who the OP was!
-
Nah, it just means he's finally found a manager that won't complain when he doesn't back him with funds.
-
tbh our fans are just too good. I went to Fulham away during the relegation season and the support our away fans gave Kinnear was just amazing considering our situation and the fact that he was a f***ing idiot who doesn't deserve to be within ten miles of a managerial job. The biggest obstacle to the success of any protest movement is the fact that we have too many faithful fans who are willing to stick with the club no matter how much abuse Ashley heaps on us. Ridiculous how the media places the blame for our instability on the fans sometime. If anything, we are too good to be involved with a c*** like Mike Ashley.
-
Supporting Gateshead seems like a fine idea. No need to make a new non-league club when there's a perfectly good one readily available.
-
That man really does ruin everything he comes into contact with
-
I'd rather be relegated than pretend to support any of Ashley's actions right now. Unfortunately, that's what pretending nothing happened and supporting the team ultimately is: implicit support of Mike Ashley.
-
I can't help but feel that this isn't our club anymore.
-
How'd that 'ol "sack the board" song go again?
-
All of that makes a decent degree of sense until you realize that the replacement is Alan Pardew.
-
Those three year season ticket things expire this year, right?
-
I'd prefer naming him player-manager over pardew I'm actually serious
-
Can we change the thread title to "What Mike Ashley is looking for..." by the way? I know it's reality but it makes me vomit to think that he and the club are one and the same entity.
-
It's ironic because Hughton was probably hired initially because Ashley believed that he was a yes man. The soft spoken former No.2 seemed like a perfect alternative to big, combative personalities like Keegan or Shearer. All of this basically happened because Ashley realized that Chris Hughton has a spine.
-
Here's the thing: a critical component of support is hope. You've got to have the belief that if you keep backing your team with all your heart, one day they will do something to make you feel good about sticking with them through all the hard times. There has to be something to strive for. There is no hope with this club for the forseeable future. I'd love to say I can support my club with no prospects for recompense indefinitely, but I have to admit it's hard.
-
Mike Ashley is the worst kind of idiot. The kind of idiot that makes up complex justifications to convince himself that he's actually right.
-
See, it's ridiculous. I don't even care about this match. It's just like how I felt when Kinnear came in for the relegation season. I hate that feeling. Two days ago I was able to concentrate on the football, regardless of how good or bad we may have been. Now I can't do that anymore.
-
Strachan?Coleman? The list of stiffy-inducing managers goes on. I suppose we could safely include any manager who's experienced failure at the championship or league 1 level recently.
-
Pardew Beardsley Kinnear Can't think of anyone beyond that
-
4points above relegation whilst having gained only 9 points from 24 (i think) at home isn't stable mid table obscurity. still rather face it with hughton than pardew though. Gee thanks, because what I really wanted to do was argue fucking semantics
-
I'd give anything to have the stable mid-table obscurity they have right now. Oh wait, up until two days ago we did!
-
IMO, we need to be as vocally disapproving of our owner as Liverpool fans were of theirs (cringeworthy as it may have been.) Ad far as I'm concerned getting ashley out takes priority over performances on the pitch. It's a terrible thing to have to say but it's my opinion.
-
I'd very happily take relegation to league 2 if it got Ashley out of the club. Unfortunately, the cunt will probably follow us all the way to the conference.
-
Our options are basically him or Beardsley on a permanent I reckon. Not sure which I would prefer.
-
I'll choose to credit you with enough sense not to really be suggesting we could get relegated and retain all our players. But players like Milner and Given were sold before we were relegated? Both handed in formal transfer requests. Stunning fact: Ashley has never sold anybody against his will. I agree that we should be worried about players leaving, but that's because I think they'll want to leave. Not because we're suddenly a "selling club", whatever that even means.
