I'm hopping on the avatar bandwagon.

any other response to this news is just heretical really.

Spot on, sometimes you have to roll a hard six. Ours is called Alan Shearer.
-
Shearer's coming in to clean up the mess Keegan made. [/titaniumhat]

Fucking ridiculous this club. Whenever I'm about to slip into apathy they pull some shit like this
-
Imagine if it's still an April fools Imagine if we stay up and Ashley lets him go and brings Kinnear back next season
-
At the very least this should put to bed all the "Shearer doesn't really love the club, he'll only come in when we're comfortable mid table and offering a fifty gazillion pound transfer budget" shit. My respect for the man just doubled. If that was even possible.
-
Just saw this on Kaizero's facebook status and dashed on to the board If this is an April Fool's (worst holiday ever) pisstake, I'm firing a rocket at SSN.
-
I just checked his Wiki and wtf does he actually have 24 goals in 20 games?
-
Ashley and co's love affair with Kinnear is simply absurd. Just what has he done to convince them that he's so valuable that they must beg him to stay as director of football if he turns down the manager job?

If taking back Bramble means we could get Bruce, I really don't care.

Last day of vacation in Spain today. I was at the Bernabeu for Spain v. Turkey. Pretty s*** game, but I got some excellent photos of a very impressive ground and it was a bit refreshing to be able to go back to being a clueless Asian football tourist without having to worry about the match result itself. Spain had an off day but their defence was flawless. Nihat/Tuncay/Senturk took turns getting owned by Pique and Albiol, Turan was very lively but couldn't get past Sergio Ramos who completely owned the right side in one of the most epic right back preformances I've seen in a while. Emre was played in a holding/playmaker role similar to what Roeder used to force him into and was pretty anonymous. Never knew the little Turk could tackle with such venom though. Anyway, it was great fun and took my mind off Newcastle for a few hours. Then I had to come and log in here

I have honestly never seen such a great concentration of utterly stupid, indefensible decisions I just don't understand. it's like he wants us to go down.

Guus Hiddink applying the final nail to our coffin. Fuck me this is like getting bum raped by the pope.

I know I've been hamming up on the drama a bit lately because I'm quite honestly distraught, but it's the truth. Do you think the stigma of being part of a relegated team will be enough to motivate these players? The "relegated stars" of Leeds United were mostly snapped up by Premiership clubs. While in hindsight most of them have turned out to be poor buys, nobody seemed to mind giving them big-money contracts at the time. Mate no disrespect. But you are miles away from Newcastle. You can quite easily switch off from the club and go to other things. I live around Newcastle and work in Newcastle. TV, Papers, the lot I see Newcastle day to day. Yeah, logically, I should be able to "turn off" Newcastle when it's not convenient to me. In the same vein, by all logic, I shouldn't care one bit in the first place about a club that I was born nearly 6000 miles from and only get to see twice a year at most. Logic left my relationship with NUFC a long time ago and as much as it would be convenient for me to do so, I have no ability to control my emotions. So I'd appreciate it if you didn't take it upon yourself to tell me what I should or should not be feeling.

Perhaps they're all at each other's throats? Would be some good entertainment, an old-fashioned dressing room brawl. If we're going down, might as well do so in style.
-
I suppose the best explanation is that he just gave up at some point and is now just counting the days until he gets a move back to Spain. We might not have a choice now though, given that Bassong and Taylor might be out for an extended time.
-
I wish Ashley never took over, I wish he never brought Keegan back. Honestly? For the first time in my life today, I wished that I'd never heard of NUFC.

Here's a new vote topic: "how much would you be willing to give for 17th place right now?"
-
I still refuse to believe that he's actually that bad, but he needs to be taken out of the side right now because there's obviously something not right with his head at the moment.

It's actually kind of refreshing to have another club's supporter come and tell it like it is. All respect to Lien and the other frequent non-Toon posters here, but the talk of "don't worry you won't go down" has gotten a bit irritating as of late. I don't mean to sound like i'm rubbing it in here but take it from me about relegation. I was in the camp of optimists thinking that we could take our pick of players from the Championship's best players and enjoy watching a new group of players walk the league. Instead we spent all our time selling Kanoute, Di Canio, Defoe, Cole, Sinclair, James, Johnson and releasing the rest on frees before even thinking about investing in others. We were lucky that we could still sign players during the season and we picked up Reo Coker Harewood Zamora and Mullins but you won't have the time to do this quick enough. It was tragic to see us down there and the atmosphere on the terraces and messageboards turned really. I saw so many fans turning on each other and even fighting. Of course there's still time to save yourselves but you haven't got it in you. You're just as likely to concede 3 goals in mad 20 min spells than you are to grind out a few 1-0's. If you are relegated the chances of getting in a new board, new director of football, new manager, new look team with direction and the ability to maintain a season of winning 25-30 matches to secure promotion...I just can't see that happening between June - September. Too big a task. You're going to be travelling down to places like Carrow Road and whatever MK Dons place is called on a wednesday night with little interest from the media. I really feel for you guys. If nothing else, it's very slightly reassuring to think that for every Charlton, Leeds, and Forest that disappears into the lower leagues, there's a West Ham or Man City that claws themselves back up to achieve some manner of Premiership stability.

Here's something that does my head in. You blame the management: you get somebody saying "it's not their fault! It's Kinnear!" You blame Kinnear: you get somebody saying "it's not his fault! The players are shit!" You blame the players: you get somebody saying "it's not their fault! It's the management!" How hard is it to just accept that it's everyone's fault. Nobody gets to stand up and say that they are faultless in this debacle.

I recon if he was playing in the Hull game we would have won it though. If Nolan hadn't gone mad on Anichebe's leg I firmly believe that we would be at least 3 points richer by now.

Harper and maybe Taylor and Lovenkrands are the only ones on that list I could see staying.
