  1. He's alright. Great attitude, crazy engine, brilliant at breaking up play. Can't pass. Wouldn't have minded him here on a free. Hopefully he'll push Cattermole out of the team so we never have to see the fucker ever again.
  2. you're joking? I dont remember that. I DO remember Oliver saying Sven wanted him in the England team though  http://arsenal-mania.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=19157&p=440509 PS - worst laughing smiley ever. the smiley is modeled on Lee Dixon I would absolutely love it if I could find the full article for that rumor somewhere. Would be a great laugh.
  3. If calling the stadium Adidas park or whatever means we won't have to sell Bassong to make ends meet, I'm all for it.
  4. fuck. That's him gone then I suppose
  5. Can't believe this lad is the same age I am
  6. Would be nicer if it was a Premiership fixture
  7. Nah. JFK may be an idiot, but he's not a bigot. He dropped Taylor for Bassong, Duff for Insomnia, and to be fair when he was slagging off Enrique, the way he was playing Jose pretty much deserved everything he was getting. Kinnear simply didn't have the brains to consider that he was still young and brimming with potential. To take simple ineptitude and twist it into some sort of massive conspiracy to excise all "continental" style form our team is a bit of stretch, to say the least.
  8. Very debatable iyam. I don't want to fall into the Owen vs Martins argument again, but you only have to look at our record without Oba to see that he's more influential on the pitch. He mightn't score as many goals, but in a 4-4-2, Owen's invisible unless he's poaching goals. In terms of adding to the team's play, i'd say Martins does more 'damage'. But as has been said, i'd rather just have em both in the side. In defence of Owen imho a midfield who can create openings would be a massive plus from open play. We don't have one, which is why I'd rather have Martins who can do shit from out of nowhere.
  9. I suppose you'd know better than I do, but personally I'd be shocked if the best defender in the world right now was anyone other than Vidic.
  10. 26-12-2008 English Premier Stoke 0-1 Man Utd 29-12-2008 English Premier Man Utd 1-0 Middlesbro 04-01-2009 English FA Cup Southampton 0-3 Man Utd 07-01-2009 English League Cup Derby 1-0 Man Utd 11-01-2009 English Premier Man Utd 3-0 Chelsea 14-01-2009 English Premier Man Utd 1-0 Wigan 17-01-2009 English Premier Bolton 0-1 Man Utd 24-01-2009 English FA Cup Man Utd 2-1 Tottenham No offense, but I suspect you suspect wrong. You said "Vidic" when you meant "Ferdinand" by the way. HTT is spot on here to be honest, those results mean very little Eight clean sheets while partnered alternately by Jonny Evans and John O'Shea means "very little?" What part of his post did you find spot on? I'd rather base my claims on reality rather than some theory I made up in my head that sounds good.

  12. Laws of the universe. We must do everything wrong. Therefore Carroll must be given a 5-year contract and we'll let Bassong go to Portsmouth in the summer for 3m.
  13. It's all down to the managerial appointment imo. If Kinnear is indeed offered a three-year contract, we're done as a Premiership football club one way or another because 1. Joe Kinnear is our manager and 2. That tells you all you need to know about Mike Ashley's intentions.
  14. Owen-Martins-Lovenkrands-Xisco-Ameobi-Viduka-bring Pedro out of retirement-Suit up a fan and bring him on-play with ten men-abandon the match-Smith
  15. This. I'd love to see Geremi be used until Nolan and Barton are fit, along side Guthrie we'd have a decent little midfield. From the snippets I saw and heard about last night it appears Geremi played well. Well, Hull is Nolan's last game out so I suppose we'd get to see that midfield for the grand total of one game. In all seriousness, I don't see Geremi as being a decent little anything, and thought he had a poor game on Wednesday. Him, Butt, and Smith are all horrible in their own ways. Hopefully Guthrie/Nolan/Barton will stay fit/not suspended for the rest of the year so we never have to see any of them again.
  16. It probably was more Ashley's fault than Keegan's fault, but my expectations for Kevin Keegan were certainly a damned sight higher than my expectations for Mike Ashley. Felt betrayed more than anything when it went down, still do. There's no more traumatic experience for a football supporter than getting fucked over by a club legend.
  17. Income-wise perhaps, but I assume the "we don't have a pot to piss in as far as transfer funds go" rule will continue to apply even if we are relegated.
  18. Finally losing to Spurs would hurt like hell
  19. This "We're going down but HEY! I WAS RIGHT! MUHAHAHA!!!" shit pisses me right off.
  20. Vidic has been noticeably better than Rio this season imo. Although it's a bit pointless arguing about it since really they're both one of the top five defenders in the world.

    Jonas Gutierrez

Was tried against Coventry and he sucked. That's far too responsive. Keep doing it for 6 more games, THEN realise it's not working, then do something about it. [/vaguejibe] This is Newcastle. The minimum timeframe at which the management is allowed to realize that something isn't working is two years.

    Park Ji-Sung

I'd take just about anyone over Bentley though. What a fall from grace Bentley has had. Within a year he goes from being NE5's golden boy to one of the most maligned players in the league. I can see him playing for us next year if we survive the drop (and if the purse strings are loosened a tad) Yup, and we all know that NUFC is the perfect place for players with a tarnished reputation can come to in order to regain their good form!
  23. He was less bad because he was less involved. For some reason Man United chose not to go through the middle a lot and to be honest Smith didn't have a lot to do. he put in one really good tackle and played a few simple passes without losing the ball. On the flip side he gave away a very poor foul in a dangerous area once, and also passed the ball straight to a red shirt on a couple of occasions. Like I said, good performance by Alan Smith standards, really bad by normal footballer standards.
  24. Fairplay to Stevie it is a f***ing brilliant reply because the number of people who cant respond to Rooney & say I am a better player than you right now are very few but there are billions of people who must think they are better looking. That's a great reply Taylor may be thick as fuck, but he never backs down and insults with class. Take him off the pitch and just sit him on the stands next to the tunnel to abuse opposing players I say.
  25. Capdevilla, who's getting on a bit. Don't think Spain have been blessed with a lot of depth in the LB position so he may have a decent chance. The fact that he plays for Newcastle might hurt him a bit though How's Del Horno getting on these days? Don't think he's getting a game for Valencia seeing how I haven't heard his name uttered in the past year or so. Was kinda forgetting that he existed actually.
