Jesus, I knew Pardew was shit but I certainly wasn't expecting this kind of instant improvement.
-
The club is broken forever. We might as we'll get some humor out of it.
-
I feel like I'm going to hate this guy just as much as Pardew when he gets the permanent job
-
I do have this odd feeling that he'd be a fantastic manager Pretty intellectual guy, big hit in the dressing room, not a huge ego. The signs are all there
-
Thing is, if we make a step up and are finishing in and around sixth or seventh every year, we'd start wanting Ashley to invest even more and push for Champions League. Expectations are a dangerous thing from his perspective. He wants to keep us in a safely mediocre space where progress looks hopeless so nobody will ever push him to spend more of the club's money.

Probably just journalists recycling old Newcastle stories
-
I will consider anyone with any sort of managerial experience within the past three years to be a coup
-
I fully expect we'll lose this heavily just so Pardew can gloat and make our lives miserable
-
Oddly specific that they're in charge for "Burney and Leicester." Seems to imply that someone will be brought in after that. This is coming dangerously close to giving me hope.
-
They won't, but we can at least enjoy the moment.
-
This is pretty much the most likely scenario. Carver or Beardsley as caretaker, then permanently if they're not a complete disaster.

He had ten years man, plenty of time to buy players that weren't so one-dimensional. There are plenty of "bad" teams in the Championship and below that haven't resorted to that abortion of a football style. Delap's throw-ins and Shotton's towel t-shirt have been quickly forgotten. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/12/12/article-2073311-0F2416D100000578-813_468x286.jpg At Stoke? What the hell do you take to lure any players there? Tiny stadium at a club whose biggest achievement is winning the League Cup once in the seventies. And who gives a crap at how you play if you're at a club like Stoke. Decent cup run and mid-table is what they're happy with. And you're right they are plenty of teams like that.... Who aren't in the PL which is the most important thing to a club like that. This sounds exactly like the papers who say us lot would rather lose 4-3 then win 1-0. I guess Pulis' fear at Stoke was there was no need to change it. He had a system that worked for him, why change? At Palace he had nothing to lose. I don't want him here but I don't think we'd necessarily see Stoke-like tactics if he came. Think this is spot on. He persisted with what he had at Stoke because it was working. I don't think he's necessarily married to that style. He's a decent, average manager really. We can and will do a lot worse.

Again, I would totally take a shit English clogger manager, given that who we'll actually get probably won't even be a manager at all.
-
He can't beat Sunderland. They'll win their next ten matches against them just to piss us off
-
You know, with our luck he'll probably win the champions league with Palace
-
This place is like that last scene from Return of the Jedi
-
I'd assume this will be the case until the end of the season, with Beardsley getting the job permanently if he is acceptably mediocre.

Some insight from a world-renowned expert on jumping ship.

Seriously, let's not even stress over this. We all know it will be somebody that respectable football clubs wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. We'll deal with that particular tragedy as it comes. For now let us just bask in the moment.
-
I guess it makes sense that we have a fresh thread for his second spell as manager.
-
The one advantage he does have over Pardew is that he'll probably drop dead before the end of his eight-year contract.
-
Don't be silly. I'm quite upbeat in the NBA thread.

Welcome back
