: Quite an enlightening thread this is. Welcome aboard mate, theres no getting off this rollercoaster and I mean it when I say rollercoaster, make sure you have a healthy heart, haha! I was born in Newcastle so I've just grown up with it. I can't afford to go to games really but I'm an avid fan. Like FlapjackJoe said "When you stay awake an entire January till 4am clicking refresh on 20 different websites (with Sky Sports News on in the background) to see the latest player we have been linked with in the transfer market ... and then wake up at 7am to see if they unveiled someone in the 3 hours you were asleep, then you know you've become a real fan." I agree with this 'cause its what I do every January haha, such a good laugh (or a good cry!) Thats me without the SSN in the background.. Me too. Of course, the above situation impies that they ever do get around to actually unveiling a player...

What must be kept in mind is that Queensland "coach" Frank Farina is a media whore, and also that while utterly incompetent, the former national team mentor has strong ties with his former charges... Sounds to me that far from choosing to come home to Australia Moore is deemed surplus to requirements and will be allowed to leave on a free. And to think they gave Bumble a new contract  I cant believe that his choice would be to go back home to play. As someone once said, "your a long time retired" and he'd regret it for the rest of his life imo if he chose to go home next season rather than stay on for another season in the big time however shite we may be next season. Im not his greatest fan but he is definatly one of our best centre halfs if not THE best. I can understand the impulse though. The A-League is growing rapidly and having a famous local star come back from the big leagues is always an excellent crowd draw. Plenty of non-English players in the later stages of their careers return to their home leagues, even if they might be slightly lower in quality, because they figure it's a good time to give back to Football in their home country by helping their local league develop.

It's scary already - that from 8 yards he has the uncanniest habit of hitting the 'keeper when there are yards of empty net to hit. Amazing really. Of course! Maritns doesn't want to score goals, he just wants to take out his adolescent pent-up rage on opposing keepers by chucking rocket shots at their faces ...Oh, wait... :
-
I think he got everything right except the Milner goal, but he did seem a bit trigger-happy when throwing yellow cards at players who questioned his decisions. Then again, perhaps that's the right way to officiate today's game. A lot of the moaning and groaning to refs has gotten just downright ridiculous. Almost had a heart attack when Martins gave him that sarcastic salute: thought he was going to send him off right then and there!
-
I've pretty much let go of any sort of big hopes for this transfer window. I'm willing to live with Taylor/Huntington -> Taylor/Bramble in the center for this year. I'm willing to just keep praying every game that Martins doesn't get hurt, ending our season right then and there. Just PLEASE, PLEASE tell me that we won't have to be playing a center back, a right back, a left winger, or (the worst of 'em all) Babayaro in left-back position come february.

In an ideal world could happen but not in the real one Nah, wouldn't even happen on FM!
-
Defoe and Berbatov would have each had hat tricks against us last week if not for Given, so I'm not TOO mad about Carrol going Lev Yashin on us today.
-
I've always been pretty supportive of ramage, thought he got too much crap for just being an average defender in the midst of a crap defence... ...I'm a dirty knee-jerker. I've changed my mind. Hate him now, please haul him off to the mackems kthanks.
-
Parker dragged himself off the pitch for our second-to-last corner. Looked like he'd aggravated his stomach again. He was back on for the next one, but was obviously looking pretty crocked.
-
...All you need to do is be linked with Newcastle to get injured these days.... West ham fans probably hate us now. First Ashton, and now Anton. Probably praying that we don't go after any of their other players!
-
Probably is, I hadn't looked at the fixture list
-
By the way, I'm willing to bet good money that the West Ham fans are going BONKERS on their board right now. Odds on that at least somebody will call the game a "Uriah Rennie hattrick" First goal was admittedly a bit suspect. And the bloke sure does love his yellow cards.

Would've liked three, but after going down early like that I can't argue with the comeback. Credit to Roeder for his change of tactics at halftime. Going to the long ball (yes, it does work out sometimes) to just bypass Reo-Coker and Quashie, who were having crazy good afternoons really got us to go forward and put pressure on their shite defense with Martins and Dyer. Heart started doing palpitations whenever ball went anywhere near our defense though. One negative might be that we've very likely lost Given, Parker, and Ramage(well, he's better than nothing....) against Villa on wednsday.
-
So last night we're told that a signing and a takeover may happen the following morning. Naturally, we get neither. Howay January!
-
After all this hype, in all likelihood we'll probably get nothing.

A true Newcastle fan would only believe in Shearer. The fact that glory like Shearer can exist in this world is proof enough of a creator for me. bluecool.gif

I wasn뭪 born interested in Football. This is why it뭩 hard for me?Since leaving college though all I think about and look forward to is Football. support your local team, then, wherever you're from. Don't forget us international supporters now. While I do support my local team, (FC Seoul, perrenial overspenders and underachievers in the K-League. Decent frontline but shite for defense. Hmm... sounds familiar.) I am also a NUFC supporter purely by choice. I'm not afraid to admit that I have no connection whatsoever to Newcastle, heck, I'm only going there for the first time this spring. But I'd like to think that my love and passion for my adopted club is at leats in some manner comparable to those of you who were born with it. The reason I support Newcastle is the same as the reason I believe in God, or the reason that I don't watch kiddie-porn , it's just the right thing to do.

...or light in a black hole
-
So, would you like to swap our position with West Hams? Well, considering that neither of us is probably going to get relegated or make it into Europe this season, I just might...
-
I'm sorry to break it to you FlapJackJoe, but communism didn't really work out for Russia. Probably won't work for football either.
-
To be honest I'm pretty much green with envy over West Ham as they're signing players left and right with Magnusson's biscuit money. In the mean time, we hardly get concrete links much less signings. We'll get one or two players in eventually I suppose, but I have to admit that anxiety is setting in.
-
I can't believe he said that! You just have to listen closely mate
-
"Well, I really like first team footbal so I'm kind of miserable not being able to have any... But I sort of like money more so I signed the extension anway... Oh well, anyone for clubbing?" -Bridge
-
Probably impossible to ever implement in Britain for the obvious reasons. To be honest a winter break would be exactly what our squad could use right now though
-
Thanks mate. And everyone else too for all the kind advice. Having lived in the US for far a while now because of college, I can probably get by with western food. Although admittedly, I did find fish and chips to be pretty horrendous last time I was in the uk bluebiggrin.gif
