  1. I mean, obviously if we're looking two play two up front with Bent and Cisse I'd have problems.
  2. cisse done that in germany and here till last season. only room for one player like that in a team IMO. If anything I think last season proves that we definitely need a spare. Also, Bent is probably better at this job than Cisse is.
  3. I don't see what the problem with Bent is. He has never failed to score 1 in 2 in the Premier League when given the minutes, and he has done so on relatively poor teams. Obviously this is not the right signing to make if you're looking to play fluid, attractive football but I honestly couldn't care less at this point. There's nobody better at bundling the ball into the back of the net for relatively poor teams and that will be a godsend for us this season.
  4. This is like a re-run of that Asian-Cup-semis-that-will-not-be-named.
  5. Screw you man, where's the N-O solidarity. How many Iraqis do you know?
  6. Well, this has been a ridiculously good game, regardless of who wins.
  7. Simple. They've always been good in football in Asia. It's there number one sport and kids play it in the streets as early as 3 years old. They eat and breath football. If Iraq was a normal country without any wars they would have even reached higher level but non the less with all their problems for the last 30 years they still can nurture some talent. It's still somewhat embarrassing that we throw barrels of money at our youth programs and they're still just about as good as we are with zero investment.
  8. Man, I really don't understand how the Iraqis are so good at football.

Loosened them maybe?, we do now have someone else deciding on these matters. While I agree with not spending big money on older players there was never any sense in staying away from all players over 28 IMO. The right answer is to sign young players when it makes sense and to sign old players when that makes sense. Having arbitrary, unbendable rules that limit what actions you can take is counterproductive.

He's fast, which is something we lack up front. Just based off seeing him play against us he seems quite a physical presence despite not being super-tall, which is also something we lack up front. Obviously age is a concern but I think we've been a bit conditioned by the recent transfer policy. Not every fast player's legs spontaneously fall off at age 30. Seems tailor made to fill up weaknesses and give us more depth up front. 5m isn't bad business at all. Imagine if we had this guy instead of Shola coming off the bench for the past two years.
  11. Without Moyes there we're basically both mid-sized clubs with shit chairmen. I think we might even be able to offer slightly more money. (Beat Everton to Ba as well, didn't we?)
  12. Baba you eloquent motherfucker I don't think people's pessimism is unjustified though. I'm sure we'll make some decent signings, probably even some good ones, but Pardew will find a way to make us terrible and Kinnear will make us feel ashamed of our own club.
  13. It calms down for a couple of weeks and you start to forget how much you hate this cunt, then he opens his mouth again and it surges back up. Detestable old twat. Somehow every single line of that is factually untrue. Surely he has to be doing it deliberately as a joke at this point.

You could argue that streete and tav arent good enough precisely because we chose to play mediocre squad players instead of giving them a chance though. More importantly, we'll never know for sure if they're not played

From a long-term perspective, It makes sense to sell marginal squad players so our youngsters can get more chances. Especially since we're not planning on winning anything for the foreseeable future.
  16. Who cares if we buy players. They'll be picked by Joe Kinnear and managed by Alan Pardew.
  17. Never, ever post such an abomination of an image in your life again. People who haven't seen the match must be like "huh, why is oldtype posting a photo of his team conceding?"
  18. So, Republic of Korea v. Nigeria with qualification on the line! http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/06/22/article-1288745-0A2778F4000005DC-339_468x286.jpg Brings back memories
  19. Must you all love Japan so much. It's not as if I'm already disillusioned with football as a whole already.
  20. Sewelly's windups would be more effective if I actually watched football anymore
  21. At this point I suspect that Ashley did indeed intend to bring Kinnear in on some honorary "jobs for the boys" capacity, but everyone's been taken aback by how he's unilaterally gone to the press and vastly overstated his authority. They're now delaying confirmation while trying to figure out the least embarrassing way out of this mess. Total shambles really.
  22. Ugh, so this wasn't a bad dream after all.
  23. The one final rational explanation I've come up with for this is that Kinnear is genuinely close to death and has asked his old friend for one final job in football, even if i carries very little real authority.
  24. Just to make us feel better, I fully expect "Graham Carr joins Man City" news within the next week.
