Jesus.
How are they even allowed? Seems as a club they just get away with doing whatever they want.

I do not doubt for 1 second that this will be a difficult match away from home under the lights at a stadium that always sounds pretty intimidating on weeknights. I do not think we will turn them over, nor do I think they will for us. Thank God Gordon now plays for us because I'd actually be worried about him against us at home when his fans were backing him.
Key for us will be how we jump out the blocks, and if our pressing starts working early (remember they have a good ball player GK who will attempt to kick beyond our press) and our CBs are winning higher up the pitch then we'll be good.I doubt Gordon will get much game time, if any. The stakes might be too high for this particular moment in time.

Turn us over. They say this about a team that just dismantled Spurs 6-1.
Aye. They are basing it on the wins against Arsenal & Brentford, mainly.

Are they talking about fireworks and coaches? It must be so fun supporting them. Usually before the match I have to go to the pub with my mates.
Haven't seen any of that as yet. Plenty of talk of making it a bearpit though.

On Grand Old Team they seem very confident that this will be a repeat of last season and they will turn us over. The usual anti-Geordie/NUFC diatribe going on too. Please, please beat these cunts.

Well, in answer to your question...it's an unwritten rule. But you probably knew that anyway.

I'm pretty confident that we win this one after today. A massive question was emphatically answered after the Villa disappointment. That drubbing might just have given the remainder of the season the final push that was required.

Which law / rules makes it that football fans have to create an atmosphere?
Seriously, how long have you been watching football?
-

Exactly, there was zero intensity to the game after 5-0 and it feeds into the grounds at all stadiums.
So basically, your benchmark is "all football grounds are like this now, so why should ours be any different". Sorry, but that's not good enough. The point you are missing is that fans are supposed to create intensity when games go flat. You are essentially condoning the support for simply reacting to what happens on the pitch, rather than them making a proper effort to have an effect on the events.
-
As I said right at the beginning of the thread....the issue is not that NUFC now has crap support, it's the fact that the stadium is too top-heavy with spectators/casual fans and the traditional football fans are unable to get back in, and the ones that remain are too interspersed around the ground. These are two issues that need to be urgently addressed by the club.

Not sure why you are not allowed to be happy about the match and talk about the atomphere?
Not like its hard to do both or mutually exclusive.
Exactly. And one of the reasons I started this thread was so that other threads with "good will" wouldn't get diluted with comments that highlight less-than-positive stuff.

It's not really though, as threads go it's been more or less hijacked. All part and parcel of being on a forum, but just saying. We've just won 6-1, everyone's happy. Coming in here and seeing yet more whingeing about the atmosphere from the same people is fucking boring, shite craic, sorry.
No, sorry, the thread was created to debate the match atmosphere. Which is what is happening here. If it's putting you on a downer then maybe stay out of the thread for a bit.
I'm over the moon about the result by the way.

You're a lunatic.
Your know you've lost a debate when you resort to insults, yes?

Okay, your choice like. Not sure what you're getting out of it though and you'll undoubtedly start annoying people in circumstances like this where everyone's on a high and you're being a doom cloud. Not just singling you out either.
This is the thread to do exactly that though. I've already said that everything else about the club is perfect. Despite that, I'm still able to see that certain important stuff still needs addressing. A 6-1 mauling of the opposition isn't going to paper over that.

After the first couple of goals is the loudest I think I've personally heard the Gallowgate. It was immense.
That's the issue though isn't it? The crowd reacts to match events, rather than being a part of them. As soon as the manic first 25 minutes were over the place fell flat.

Nah, it's miserable twats like you that are the issue.
The stadium being full of fuckers like you makes me miserable, you are spot on about that.

Just now, Kid Icarus said:
You'd think a 6-1 battering would be a good excuse to have the week off from like, howeh, let it go for a week
Nah. It's times like this that highlight the problem more intensely.
The club is magnificent in every way except for what is happening in the stands. If the people who run the club don't know there is a problem then they won't bother addressing it.

Just now, El Prontonise said:
So what is a football fan then, Mr fucking nufc then?
Well it's clear that you have never experienced what being one is, but in a nutshell....you make an atmosphere with songs & chants, no matter what the score and/or how that match is going. For better or for worse.

The atmosphere of any sporting contest depends on the context of what has happened and has gone on.
"Any sporting contest".
You are a sports fan. Not a football fan,

I'm sorry like, but if your not alarmed at a lack of home atmosphere when the team have just magnificently dismantled their main CL-qualifying rivals then I don't what else I can say.

You have no fucking clue.
Been going to games just for the last few years have we?

Imagine the current lot at Derby County away in 1992 man. They'd all have fucked off home after 30 minutes.

You're such a miserable twat.
People also go to watch a football match and a contest, that today wasn't one.
Nah, I just know what a proper atmosphere looks like. You clearly don't.
Your second comment confirms exactly what is wrong with our support. "I will only make a contribution to the atmosphere under certain circumstances".

I don't want to hear any excuses about unlucky away kits, TV broadcasting jinxes or intimidation by flares/noise under the floodlights etc. These need to be dispatched tonight & we need to be prepared for anything that they throw at us. If last year's experience hasn't prepared us for what we will face then I don't know what else would.
