Or a rebuild that takes up some of the existing footprint and also a partial footprint on the park.

I know that the idea has been rubbished on here, but I could genuinely see us ground sharing with SAFC for at least one season. They are skint & Louis-Dreyfus could definitely be persuaded to allow it if the financial incentive is significant enough. A Mackem on RTG has posted about hearing a rumour that we have discussed it with them already. A two year ground share apparently.

There is no way that any kind of rebuild on the current SJP site gives a stadium with a 70k capacity. For that reason alone it must surely be new stadium on a new site. Man Utd are going to have a new stadium with at least 80k and Liverpool have the potential to do something similar. But we are going to spend £1bn+ to build a stadium that is then locked in forever at the 60/65k mark? I'd be staggered if that was the plan.
-
Maybe the cost would involve filling in the current Metro tunnel, rerouting it and building a new St James' station, perhaps where the Stack now is. It's still not worth spending the money on that though for an extra 10k seats that will still not meet the demand for tickets and also make the stadium atmosphere even worse.

£1bn for an extra 10,000 seats. That has got to be the justification used for an all new stadium.

Awful news. I have a relative who was diagnosed with this type of illness this year and it's completely life changing. Hopefully he will respond well to the treatment. Despite all of the controversy this summer he has always come across as a sound, well meaning bloke to me. Wishing the very best of luck for him.
-
I doubt he’s going to Madrid immediately mind. But if he really is that good, then it’s another transfer fuck up by all at NUFC.
-
If he is as good as you lot say, I will be livid if he’s not wearing a black & white shirt if/when he leaves you.
-
Look at the state of these two cunts man. Salivating over any possibility that PIF might sell up.

They seem to be raving about Rigg at the moment. Seeing that fucking up our transfer business is the hot topic at the moment, I have no idea why we didn’t snap up Rigg this summer and then loan him back to the SMB. Wouldn’t even surprise me if we don’t even try to sign him if he becomes the hottest young property in the game. And this is a lad whose entire family are black & white, including him.

I've been a bit perplexed at the criticism of Eales on the various social media platform but the events of the last month or so do now have alarm bells ringing. For instance I find it astonishing that he may have been comfortable with the sale of Gordon to Liverpool. If so, then no wonder that player looks depressed at the moment. I'm also a bit concerned that, if we do get a new stadium, then Eales will have a big say in what the design looks like. I do not want a brand new SJP looking like the Atlanta stadium or any of the family-friendly Yank superbowl-style efforts. It has to be a proper European bearpit. As has already been alluded to in this thread, rebuilding a big English club is nowhere near the same type of job as creating a start-up club in the USA.

Would rather get it out of the way tonight if that’s ok.
-
It looked like the ball rolled off the upper part of his shirted arm to me, tbh. So, yeah I think that was lucky. And Joelinton was lucky not to get sent off. Schar’s sending off was pathetic, but mainly because the rules are pathetic rather than bad luck on our part. Everyone is just buzzing tonight after winning the shootout, so I understand the defiance in some of the posts. But the tone on these threads would have been very different if we had lost it.

Bournemouth’s disallowed goal? Anyway it’s the fact that we have been so poor for all of our games so far is what concerns me. If this was just one bad game in isolation then I wouldn’t be too concerned but to look so disjointed at this stage has alarm bells ringing for me. Hopefully Sunday will finally see us clicking up a gear though.
-
You missed the opposition literally throwing away a golden opportunity in the penalty shootout? Those two Forest misses were a gift from the footballing Gods.

Evidence, maybe not, but there have been indications. We narrowly avoided a points deduction but had to sell players that we didn’t really want to in order to avoid the deduction, and possibly unsettled one of our star players in the process. Then there is the manager indicating that he wasn’t totally on board with the new management structure. And finally we have pissed about with our recruitment all summer and are now seemingly sweating on getting anyone in at all.
-
The positives are that we are getting results whilst playing poorly, and yeah, as the saying goes, that’s what good teams do. But we are only 3 games in and the players look weirdly lethargic/passive IMO and that is a key difference.
-
All I have seen so far is us having a mountain of good fortune in all three games. I’m aware that stuff going on behind the scenes has obviously unsettled everyone at the club, but this luck will run out soon if things don’t improve.
-
I did, that’s why I added the emoji. My point still stands though.
-
Is there ever a moment where you are not a sarcastic prick?
-
Anyone who watched that tonight and thinks that things are ok has their head in the sand.
-
He's a very lucky man because, apart from the final 15 mins of open play, that was absolutely dreadful. 3 games in and we have been garbage in all of them and this simply cant continue. The whole club has been a shambles this summer and this has obviously affected morale allround but that still does not excuse the passive performances we have seen so far.
-
Not sure I’d agree tbh. Our fanbase are neurotic when it comes to stuff like this, and with pretty reasonable justification too, bearing in mind all of the false dawns & oh-so-near moments of the last 30 years.
-
With all of the nervousness amongst the fanbase about the club’s ambitions and speculation around the relationship between Howe and his bosses, there really needs to be a big, positive announcement about stadium development soon. If this is kicked into the long grass, or, heaven forbid they say that SJP developments will be modest, that will really see the pessimism set in.

Call it kneejerk all you want but my gut feeling is that he won’t be manager this time next season.
