The whole "friendly derby" thing no longer holds true, apparently (if it ever actually did). I did the Anfield tour a few years ago and the lads conducting the tour told us that there is real animosity between the two fanbases these days.

Have a read of their thread dedicated to us on grandoldteam and you will soon change your mind. They despise us, and their mentality towards NUFC comes across strikingly similar to the mongs on RTG. As far back as I can remember they have had nothing good to say about us, and when we took off in the 90s it really seemed to rattle them, with them referring to us as a "Sky Team". As if we had no history to be proud of pre-1992. I'd love to see them relegated tbh.

One thing that surely everyone can agree on is that the O&D test rules have been written in a vague enough manner to give the PL a significant chance of winning the arbitration. And I imagine that the same applies for their conduct in regards to the CAT case. I dont believe for a second that they have made some kind of glaring schoolboy errors in the way they have handled themselves in all of this, which is why I tend to think Jacobs' take on the situation is a lot closer to reality than Keith's, unfortunately.

So I guess they dont have as close mates on the PL judicial panel as they do on the arbitration panel. Otherwise they could have failed it last year and made it quickly go away for good?

Exactly. What all of this shows is that the test needs to be taken out of their hands and tied in fully with UK law, so that appeals go through the courts and not their mates. The game is too important for it to be ran like a country club.

What would have happened if the PL had actually gone ahead and said "you have failed the test because we think the Saudi state is a shadow director that you are hiding from us"...? Like, who would the appeal have gone through? The PL again? Or a court of some kind?

It's right what he is saying, and IMO it's the only chance of getting it through, if it can be proven that a different set of standards were deliberately set against us compared to the likes of City etc in an obvious attempt to thwart it. Because I just dont see us winning arbitration.

The problem with Keith is that he is so dreadfully ineloquent that it is difficult to take him seriously. That's a bit of shallow view to take but unfortunately it's the way the world works, so he doesn't inspire any confidence. None of this will matter of course if the evidence he keeps referring to is as hard hitting as he claims. To be honest though, I really have my doubts that it is. As far as Jacobs goes, although I more or less believe him when he says he is impartial, you can clearly tell that he loves it when a new bit of scandal or drama pops up in this story, hence him fizzing about the latest rumours around Saudi and the ESL.

Yeah, that will be an interesting watch.

I watched Wraith's catch up with Ben Jacobs this morning and, to be honest, the guy was completely reasonable. I think we are underestimating just how strong a case the PL have, unfortunately and, for me, the odds are firmly stacked against this going through. Not saying it's impossible of course but I'm about 30/70 in the negative camp now. Of course we all know that if this was Man Utd, Liverpool etc then the PL wouldn't even be presenting a case. So they are still a bunch of complete cunts.

I'm in pretty much a similar situation. 1985 when I started going. My heart says this takeover will happen but my head says it won't. There are people in key positions that will ensure it will be blocked, and that will be the end for me. I couldn't continue to watch football knowing how deeply corrupt the game is at the highest level. Don't get me wrong though, if it does somehow happen, I welcome all of the envy, animosity and antagonism that will come with it. Most loathed club in the country? Bring it on.

One thing is for sure. If it does somehow go against all the odds and get passed through, the likes of Slater will be doing anything in their power from there on to unsettle us as a club. They aren't just going to let this go.
