Tonight's matches

No, they are s***. Might be an English=English translation issue. I mean the same thing as you. "Newcastle > Liverpool > Barcelona" Careful, that also means that Bramble is better than the Barca defence. Statements like that lead to renewed contracts.

Wow, Barca aren't shit tonight.

Anyone watching the Chelsea game? Diarra is a damn fine player. Would love to have him here.
4. Assuming we sign Gooch, with the arrival of Ferdinand, where does that leave Taylor?
5. Would love to see some of the Newcastle players getting along like that in training. Knowing Fred though, it would cost about five bucks.

7. For some reason, that logo makes me thirsty for beer.
8. A team that lost 5-1 to Birmingham deserves to celebrate whatever the hell they can manage to win.
9. Isn't Andrew Carroll around 6 ft 4?

West Ham

Just took a look at one of their forums. That place might be the most depressing spot on the web.

Babayaro

I guess that explains the black armbands. Sad to hear. Always tough to lose an immediate member of the family to illness.
12. Just finished this one the other week. A very enjoyable read, and insightful for someone not as well versed in the history of the club like myself. If I could ask my own question, does anyone have any other Newcastle related books to suggest? Surely something has been written about the 95/96 season.
13. Yeah. I've never been a massive fan of the Metrostars/Red Bulls, But I try to keep up with what's going on with the team.
14. actually, as a RB's fan, i don't mind the strips so much. its pretty much just like having redbull as a super sponser. but seeing as how NORAD (north american aerospace defense command) is in colorado, i wouldnt mind seeing 'colorado nuclear arsenal' (pauses for laughs) [insert smiley which used to be on the old board which depicted an akward exit] The logo is... man. I can't even put it into words. It looks as if it was ironed on a T-shirt. If you're trying to grow a league, you would think the team in the biggest market in the nation would get something better than that. Honestly, I didn't think there was anything wrong with the old Metrostars look. Will Arsenal loan players to Colorado, or is this just another Chelsea/LA kind of thing?
15. New York United, New York Toon, New York equivalent of an apparently cursed team, I don't give a damn. Anything but the Red Bulls. Have you seen those uniforms?!
16. You a cat with 9 lives like? Dunno, I've only seen 7

England-Spain

Considering that he plays for a team with very few options on the bench, Dyer has been out there for a really long time.

I'll never understand this whole Crouch thing.

Isn't it too soon to fire the England coach?
20. Running into someone in NY wearing the shirt and immediately having a connection with a total stranger. Kills me every time.

Defoe in the squad?

SWP is playing as if he's not going to play again for months.

Wright-Phillips? How did he get in?

Brazil v Portugal

Not aired in the UK? Shame, hell of a game here.
25. If you already feel a connnection to the team, you're probably already a fan. Watch a few games, if you scream at the TV as if Ramage can hear you, go buy a shirt. I was in the same situation when I was looking for a team to support. Since I'm in he US, I feel no local connection to any of the teams. The first full match I ever watched was Liverpool v AC Milan. I was "this" close to becoming a fan of Liverpool until I realized how big a deal winning the Champions League was. I didn't want to jump on a bandwagon, so I waited for the next season to decide. Watching teams the next season, I was only certain of a few things: Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal were not options. I figured if I was ever going to be a true fan, I would have to support the worst team I saw. At the time, thanks to Souness and Boumsong, that was Newcastle. A few weeks later, when N'zogbia hit a free kick to break a goalless streak, I didn't even realize that I had jumped out of my chair in delight. Ever since then, I've been in for the duration.
