  1. I totally agree with you. I think it's a part of sport, but also believe that it has been magnified during the information age, partially because we can see their opinions, partially because echo chambers encourage people, and partially because every headline around us is sensationalist and reactionary. Just look at people's youtube headlines talking about football. It could well be becaue I come from the old school documentary film community where sensationalism was often looked down upon, and telling the story honestly was the most important thing (with a few horrifying counter-examples), but it's just so absured. Some articles I've submitted for online publications completley sensationalised them by changing the titles. this of course often happened traditionally in media, but I've definitely seen a magnification of it to unprecedented levels.
  2. We absolutely do have relentlessly negative posters. Lucky (Dr Jinx) was a prime example. Dokko often times. Whitley Mag. wyndavies just to name a few. And that list is by no means comprehensive.
  3. you're missing the point again. Changing the goalposts fallacy. It's exactly this type of reactionary hyperbole garbage I'm talking about. Some are way more guilty of it than others. Do the Ronaldo and pretend that it doesn't happen, but it clearly does. La Parka accused Howe of a dereliction of duty on Saturday.
  4. Poster like gdm did that all summer, saying they were piled on for being negative. I've cited a whole host of examples of those exact comments over the last few years. Kid Icarus can verify that.
  5. A Are you serious? Just go to the Wissa thread right now.
  6. "get rid of Sandro. Waste of space."
  7. I think most of us are accepting different opinions. This misses the point. And one of the cliche fallbacks in arguments is "you know you are allowed a different opinion", and "loads piled on me when I said..." It's the self-martydom as much as the repeating doom cycle.
  8. see this is the type of post I appreciate. It's not over the top, throwing in words like 'dereliction of duty'. I'm frustrated as well, man. And for what I think is good reason. It's just the Nuremberg Trial garbage that really annoys me, and the context-free, ahistorical cycle every season.
  9. this is exactly what I am talking about. Mountains of information at our fingertips, and attenuated patience about everything in life now.
  10. he had a pretty great season before that when he was often deployed as a winger. His numbers were fine. Not for the price though (mainly because of his aage). But he was very fast and dangerous with Brentford. Right now he looks like someone coming off a knee injury, but even worse. I think people are underestimating how much that injuryducked him and us.
  11. that's sort of my point. It's actually more a mirror image of it under Eddie.
  12. yes it's vampiric behavior that I can't stomach. It's Colin from What We Do in the Shadows
  13. I wouldn't be if it wasn't the same cycle every season. This season easily has the most justified reasons for it. I'd accept that if it wasn't groundhog day
  14. although under Bruce, there were very few head in the sand people overall.
  15. It's helped make this site toxic like a 64-calorie 4chan. Everything is shambolic, appalling, pathetic, unforgivable. And there needs to be inquests for every damn thing. But when it's good, some pretend like they don't do this every time it gets a bit dodgy.
  16. this is where I am not confident at all that they'd even find someone at the same level.
  17. appalling, pathetic, fucking shambles...some of you live on hyperbole.
  18. didn't say that it was going to be easy. It means that have run out of slip ups beyond them. Arsenal and Man City are pretty much write-offs. Maybe Arteta will start on his classic choke job when they meet us and drop 2 points though.
  19. he was absolutely much quicker at Brentford
  20. after a couple of months of bad form, and after a season's worth of fantastic form.
  21. or this is a blip in his otherwise upward trajctory. We aren't even through with this season. Just not enough data points to say he's found his ceiling...especially after giving us our best season in recent memory. And 23/24 wasn't nearly as bad as people say. 60 points would likely get us comfortably into Europe this season. We've got 14 games to get 27 points, and Howe usually has finished the final third relatively strong.
