Would like to see us playing that formation. Carroll seems to be an ideal striker for that if he improves his ability to hold up the ball. Routledge and Jonas on the wings and Nolan together with Barton in DM would certainly give us a good balanced team. The only thing what is missing is Ben Arfa to play that Özil/Sneijder part.

Aye, we can take some heart from that first day of Premier League football. Some teams look like they could be in a lot of trouble. On the other hand, Blackpool may not be the certainty to go down we thought it would be; they played a very bad Wigan side, but they still stuffed them comfortably and I'm not sure we would have done the same.
