  1. how do the two relate? he signed a 6 year contract and we're under no pressure to sell, if they do want him ashley will push them to the limit imo
  2. he's surely about the best at what he does in the entire PL so it's a sensible signing for chelski given essiens problems i reckon 1. if chelski want him he's away (they're throwing daft money about at the moment again) 2. ashley will rape them financially, of that i have little doubt 3. like others i don't think sturridge will come as part of the deal, but you never know
  3. UV or Pip? I'd be more inclined to take Pips but neither are entirely dependent on the activity of NUFC so it's fucking nonsense - last year was widely recognised as an anomalous year for a lot of teams and based on that, if we stick as we are in the market, i reckon we'll end up doing worse despite having some better players on the books I was referring to UV's proposal FWIW. Quite comical watching people try and squirm it into something else. squirm it into something else alls he's done is read this: and determined he can prove his continually boring point about transfer spending by offering people to bet him as it happens i think he's right, we'll not score more goals but that doesn't mean we won't have a good season EDIT: and when i said "read this" i didn't mean that post, i meant those stats in some format or other

  5. I'm not going to bet on something on here I could get far better odds than evens for on betfair. Anyone taking the bet from me could just lay it off, it's what I'd do. Goals scored isn't a bet I've seen elsewhere, so it's one I'll make here. Claims have been made that we will have or already have a better attack than last year. All this wishy washy oh we'll spread the goals around more but might not score as many, the attack will be better though, is just an excuse for a lack of conviction. What's going to happen to this super new attack, are they going to get a couple of goals against the poorer teams and then sit back on the lead? Why aren't they going spank some teams like last year, especially if they are more able to score against better teams? Remember we only had a decent striker for half the season last year, we've got rid of Nolan who was holding back the free flowing attacking style of play, and there's more players to come. Why would that mean we can't score more than last year unless people are underestimating what those players added to the team? this whole thing is fucking woeful, up there with ronaldo and his 10k bet
  6. bets part of that liver bird thing is if you read about them they've no connection to war whatsoever - probably made by some cunt from china who's never seen 'em play other than on the telly or whatever and why has no-one mentioned 'baby face assassin'? what's lucas an assassin at, playing good football and scoring goals?
  7. It's this notion of the transfer market currently being on fire due to them buying Craig Gardner, Wes Brown and Rory Deacon that gets me. who?
  8. ok, can i just come out and say that's JULY and now we're stepping up our striker search all these mopes thinking we're gonna spend much of the 35m better start rethinking...we got 3 players for 5m, mike's wet dream tbh, why spend the rest For. f***'s. Sake. +1 + fuck you dude

I see a top 8 place achievable if we get a quality forward in ,the club say top ten so to lower expectations .The premiership was shit last season in my eyes with a few teams having awful runs and still finishing above us i.e Liverpool ,Sunderland,Everton ,Villa and these are the teams we need to push for progress to be made. fair point this, i wonder if the fuckwit twins think the league is always gonna be this bad? hopefully not with ashley's gambling streak... I don't think it's that fair a point as mid table teams have up and down seasons, whether it's good and bad runs of form over long periods or up and down form like ours over short periods, that's why they're mid table. If you look back through the history of the Premier league over the past 10 years clubs that finish 10th have a points range from 46pts to 52pts, with the higher end usually being balanced by an awful team that picks up very little which we didn't have this year. the point is fair because alls you need is us to have a poor year due to MA thinking it's a piece of piss, and teams like villa, sunderland, whoever else all having strong seasons and beating the shite at the bottom and we'd be adrift... any permutation is possible of course, just saying one of the scenarios might be the type to make MA have a(nother) poor attempt at gambling on the squad
  13. 489 pages on sunderland boys and girls, it's surely time to start giving these fucking clowns a wide berth?

  15. seriously ian, seriously? taking devils advocate to the extreme here like I'm not saying we shouldn't spend anything, but wouldn't using some of the money to shore up other aspects of our finances be a good idea? my lord. we're the 3rd biggest club in the country dude....yeah, let's invest that 35m in the seat and pie stands...oh no wait they've been sold off etc....
  16. seriously ian, seriously? taking devils advocate to the extreme here like
  17. if you look back through the history of big transfers in england the (smaller) receiving club do either one of two things; (i) spend a good proportion of the fee or (ii) pocket the money waddle, beardsley & gazza are examples of (ii) any guesses where the carroll money will fall?
  18. remember that ac milan shirt everyone was wanking over? does not look good irl imo
  19. feel the same - i wonder could ashley be aiming to get through this summer spending a tiny amount on fees from the 35m carroll money? it doesn't seem to make any logical sense that he would, surely your average fan will be outraged at that proposition? as semtex said if nothing else happens between now and the end of the window we'll have done OK tbh, but not in the context of that 35m, when placed in that context it'd have been a fucking terrible window
  20. Exactly, there can be talks about Maradona, Garrincha, Cruyff, Messi, Ronaldo, CRonaldo, Zidane, Platini, Beckenbauer, Zico, Romario, Baggio but no one will ever be as big as Pele, he's the step above all of them. I have no doubts Messi has the talent to one day be up there, but so did Ronaldo and Zidane and they never really reached that magical level. People talk about how Messi plays in a modern game where its so much harder because of the level and speed of the game. But people tend to forget that Pele played under an era where he was brutally kicked every 2 minutes. He had no protection, nowadays the referee protects players from being physically murdered back then they didn't. Pele had to leave a World Cup (his only without winning it) because he was so brutally taken care off by defenders and the referees didn't care. I can only imagine how that World Cup would've looked like had he not been injured by the Bulgarian and Portuguese defenders. For you who haven't watched those games, you should look, even Parana (right back during that World Cup) has personally told me and relatives about how it was even worse than what you saw on TV. Maybe Pele would've won 4 World Cups and been even bigger than what he is had he been protected by referees. Messi is without a doubt the best right now, but to start comparing him with the greats is still silly. People say 'why does he have to win with the national team' and so on, well the answer is really easy, he has to prove that he can win outside his comfort zone at Barcelona. Exactly! I don't get why it is so difficult to understand why people want to see Messi perform outside of Barcelona without getting back tiring excuses oh "he plays in a different position", "his team mates are not good enough", "Maradona is a lousy manager" etc It doesn't help Messi's case that he is playing in a Barcelona team many consider the best in the last 10-20 years. A true legend will shine despite difficult circumstances. Messi has done wonders at Barcelona, but every time he leaves his pampered comfort zone, his level drops a few notches....let's see what happens in this Copa. Even C. Ronaldo has proven that he can excel in more than just one team and in different countries with different style of play. Messi is Barcelona's star player (one of) and at the moment that's all he is, would put him fourth in all time ranking just behind Zidane alpapl, you're fucked in the head mate, fucked
  21. and don't forget the pitches, the pitches were always, ALWAYS shit
