As usual, your gifs make absolutely no sense. It symbolises the internal emotions I'm going through. Mild enjoyment amongs the feelings of nothingness. That's basically the only one I've posted that actually made sense within the context of a thread.

Based on the fact Viera is unproven, I could get excited for a few matches watching what he brings to the table. More entertaning than slowly watching McLaren do a Pards.

Michel Platini would be so much better than Blatter as president of the governing body A new president, any president, no matter how corrupt pre-presidency, would pretty much be forced to give more transparancy. It's basically "anyone but Blatter", then football might get a teeny tiny bit better. Not in any way healed, but better.
-
I feel like Jack Warner is very liable to turn on Blatter to save his own ass tbh.

"I got the vote of 133 nations, but I am the president of them all." Re: UEFA "I can forgive, but I never forget." Blatter is such an odious cunt, man. UEFA better fucking pull out of that viper's nest of corruption.

Only keeping him for the comp tbh.

weapons grade horseshit I repeat, this is the terriblest idea ever. Europe would immediately cut all funds for football development projects in Africa/Asia. What's the point of making them better when that just means they'll get more votes. There's no reason to assume that. There's no reason to assume that funding for football development even needs to voted on. If you're building something from scratch there's no reason why you couldn't write something on division of funds into a founding charter or similar. It's just a massive assumption you're making. If you're trying to level the field in FIFA there's no reason why you couldn't make those sort of arrangements too. Of course you could implement revenue-sharing or other equalizing measures prior to giving them more votes, but in a hypothetical environment that is sufficiently pro-UEFA to institutionalize weighted voting for these countries, how would those unamendable revenue-sharing measures pass in the first place? Also, from a purely normative perspective, why must Africa and Asia be reliant on the goodwill of the UEFA countries to represent their interests? We don't deserve an equal voice just because we're shit at football? Africa is now providing the top European leagues with a significant portion of their star players and Asia is providing a significant portion of their fans. We're all part of this enterprise and have no interest in being relegated to junior partner status just because other parts of the world happened to start kicking balls earlier than we did. My main issue is that the fucking Cayman Isles have the same say as South Korea. In no way should the Cayman Isles have as much a say in world football as South Korea, or other "big" FAs. Will the Cayman Isles ever get close to qualifying for a World Cup? If doing the FIFA ranking thing, one could simply take the top five from each association in the FIFA rankings and give their votes the same power, then take six-ten from the FIFA rankings and so on until you can no longer choose an equal amount from each association. After that you'd just go with the vote counting equally among the remaining nations. That way each association will still have an equal amount of say at the same time as making vote buying a bit harder.

Pretty much my dad's favourite player, so naturally he's not too happy with this news. I'm not that happy either, no longer good enough for our starting 11 but why shouldn't we have a squad? I mean, it was thin enough as is, now it's even thinner. Thanks for everything Jonas

A better voting system would sort out a lot of the corruption issues tbh. As well as full transparency, which they should have as they are a non-profit. It's actually quite easy. Not saying all corruption would be gone. But compared to the current FIFA with shit voting system and no transparency whatsoever... I mean, yeah... What would be your proposed voting system? As discussed earlier, weighted voting tied to either FIFA ranking or the amount of clubs precided over by an FA.

Blatter would see FIFA burn if he could be king of the ashes.

As a power play it makes perfect sense. The sponsors bring the money. The big nations bring the sponsors. Pull the big names out, and the sponsors pull out. This leads to the "lesser "nations that are dependent on said money to start sweating, which could hurry up the removal of Blatter. Basically. If UEFA and CONMEBOL pull out, FIFA will be dead in the water. They will still have most of the countries in the world, but no sponsor would give their WC any money. That said I also think it would probably never happen. But if there was a time for them to flex muscles, it's now.

Nobody's saying UEFA isn't corrupt as well. But it's comparing a 747 filled with corrpution to a Cessna filled with corruption.

According to Karen Espelund that's a possibility. USA, UEFA and Invitees. The "Big" South American countries apparently voted against Blatter as well.

Karen Espelund (UEFA Executive Committee) says there will be meetings in UEFA next weekend in Berlin and that it's very probable UEFA will react "heavily" to this. Says Spain and Russia do not share the view of the rest of UEFA, but that UEFA is a democracy. Says UEFA's view is that Blatter is responsible for the corruption in FIFA as he is the boss, and there is no reason why he should not step aside. English FA representative have turned down a role for FIFA. "You can see that Blatter is moved. However how much of that is acting, I can't say. He says he'll change FIFA, but he's been saying that for 17 years and now FIFA have never been in a worse position." Interviewer: "So a World Cup without UEFA teams can be a possibility?" Espelund: "It is a big possibility. We need to show our muscles." Possibility of a UEFA + USA + Invitees replacement tournament.

Think UEFA will threaten to pull out of the WC now. They'll never do it, but no doubt they'll pretend to.

Yes Absolute disgrace. Why? The fact that England or Spain could be outvoted by Timor Leste and Montserrat (for example) is a total joke. They have nothing to do with the game. You can't have a global governing body that only focuses on the elite players. One of the reasons Blatter is so popular is because he treats the smaller and poor nations well. Its like saying the richest guy in America's vote in an election should count for more than an ordinary working class person Yes you can, and no it's not. Football is a non-essential part of society. Votes should count after their own FIFA ranking tbh. 1-10 get so so many votes. 11-20 so so many and so on. Or weighted based on the number of clubs presided over by that particular FA. That way it's not really dependent on the results, just the size of the FA.

Most FA's want him to stay, he will win comfortably tomorrow, even a fair amount of Europeans will vote for him. This is the problem, I think this goes way beyond FIFA, Blatter, and a few of his mates. The FBI will make their arrests but after that it is up to the big European nations to be bullies and force change, make everyone else get in line, even if that means fucking up the next 2 world cups for everyone. Prince Ali currently has 90 votes apparently. Needs 105.

Think it might be Karen Espelund Agreed.

Just the emotion of scoring the 2 goals probably? He's done well like. Nah not the crying. It was him kicking off in the tunnel, no? Just went for his flag, no?

What sort of things specifically are you curious about? For instance how serious are they to push for real punishment? I would guess very serious. The Obama administration in general has been pretty hawkish on foreign entities engaging in corrupt practices on US soil/in connection with the US market. The amount of time and effort DOJ have put into this case indicate that they're out for blood. The indictment states that each of these guys could face 20 years+ on some combination of RICO charges, money laundering, wire fraud, tax evasion, and bribery (with bonus points for criminal conspiracy.) Just based off what I've seen, that level of sentencing don't seem outlandish at all if they don't cooperate. Realistically, most will probably work out some kind of plea deal in which they agree not to defend themselves and also provide information in exchange for less serious charges. This is why I'm holding out some hope that the US authorities will work their way even higher up the FIFA totem pole. The one wrinkle in this is probably extradition. I'm not aware of where these people are at the moment and how many of them are already in American hands. Depending on where they're holed up and what sort of treaty the US has with those countries extradition may take a significant amount of time. Most were arrested in Switzerland, who have a very open extradition agreement with the US. I read somewhere that they're probably already shipped to America by now.

Or you read it and then posted the same thing to look intelligent… fwiw I've ran the same arugment multiple times on here for years.
