didn't he say he was going to sign players who were 'proved in the premiership' looking at european players contradicts what he originally purported....
-
I want Juande Ramos....we should really try to get him....attacking, winning football...and can make decent players into stars (eg kanoute)....perfect for us tbh.....
-
I'd like to keep him but best for both is to sell....
-
Shearer was better than Ronaldo, Maradona and Pele put together
-
1. Shearer - simply the best 2. Ginola - player that I most wanted to emulate on the field - legend 3. Paul Daglish - young player with soooooooo much potential

can't believe some people wanted allardyce up here...park 2 goals

That's exactly why Roeder will never be a top class, winning manager. He does not have a system. Look at all the top managers eg Wenger, Mourinho they have a set system and they instil that system into their players. judging from our performances the players have no clue. we just play 4-4-2 and have some sort of 'tactic' that may differ from game to game. Honestly, I don't know what Roeder is doing. What I am sure of is that Roeder does not have a system - or he cant get his players to follow it. I think its the former.

I thought Berbatov was going to be a hit this season so put him in my fantasy team straightout at the beginning of the season. Wasn't scoring and got injured and sold him. Then he came back and started scoring. Conclusion: Sh*t in my opinion.

David Hasselhoff Surely he would instil that extra bit of motivation in the lads....evidence: performances in Baywatch and bringing down the Berlin Wall

stop talking crazy now, who should be our next number 9? Henry or Ronhaldinho? Ronaldinho imo we should also think about getting C. Ronaldo and Messi

That, added to the fact that the players don't pick themselves.. I agree. Also u can have crap players yet have a great team. Look at wat Steve Coppell is doin with Reading and Mark Hughes with Blackburn etc. I guess the differenting point is that these managers have had time with these players...but Roeder has had ample time. He should know all/most the players by now and IF HE HAD A SYSTEM he would have implemented it and would have got the players implementing it. Bottom line is he's out of his depth and he is not a good coach/manager.

You know f*** all tbh.. Roeder like it or not knows more about the game then you will EVER know mackems.gif

I reckon we would have won under Bobby or Keegan - especially under Keegan. We may have conceded 2 goals but we would have been attacking, attacking...constantly attacking. Daglish - possibly. But probably same result under Gullit and Pooness....we'll never know tho tbh

Roeder says ref was to blame for Toon collapse Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder was left to reflect on two crucial decisions after his hopes of UEFA Cup glory were dashed by AZ Alkmaar in Holland. The Magpies went down 2-0 at the DSB Stadium as AZ cancelled out their first-leg deficit to draw 4-4 on aggregate and progress to the last eight on away goals. The outcome could have been different had AZ not been awarded a controversial penalty at St James' Park last week or Newcastle not been denied what would have been a tie-winning late goal last night. French referee Bertrand Layec disallowed a Scott Parker strike for a foul in the build-up after the skipper had drilled home a low shot. Roeder said: 'You are relying on the referee to make a decision and he made a decision against us. 'There were too many players in the box at that particular time to make an accurate assessment. 'You have to trust the referee to make the right decision. But there is no doubt about it - their very, very dodgy penalty last week at St James' Park has cost us. 'But there we are. We have now got to look forward and not look backwards.' Newcastle arrived in Holland knowing Danny Koevermans' strike on Tyneside had rekindled AZ's hopes, and the home side needed just 14 minutes to reduce the deficit further when Shota Arveladze pounced from close range. Kieron Dyer fired across the face of goal on 54 minutes, and Koevermans took full advantage when he headed home what proved to be the clincher two minutes later. Obafemi Martins wasted another opportunity seven minutes from time, but had Parker snatched a quarter-final berth at the death, it would have been a huge injustice to the Dutchmen. Roeder said: 'I am hugely disappointed. I cannot sit here and explain how disappointed I am personally when players I would have expected to perform well have performed poorly. 'We trained here last night. We did not do too much, but what we did gave me a lot of confidence that the boys were in good shape to come our here tonight and play as a team.' It was a particularly tough night for 19-year-old defender Paul Huntington, who was given a torrid time by winger Julian Jenner, although Roeder is confident he will learn from the experience. He said: 'He is a strong lad, a mentally tough lad. He is just 19 years old and he is a central defender who had to play at left-back. 'Although it was not a good experience for him and not a good experience for anyone tonight, he will learn a lot of things from the game. 'In the bigger picture of his football career, it will not do him any harm.' AZ coach Louis van Gaal was thrilled with his side's second successive away goals victory. He said: 'The players have to believe. That is the biggest quality of a manager, to make the players believe in what he wants.' http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=414838&cc=3436 Blame everyone but urself....sign of a good strong manager?? i think not.

wow! so I'm not the only one who thought Lee would be worth looking at. Defensively he's not the best...but def one of the best left backs going forward. works hard and gives it all for the team...it's just he's playin in a crap team right now.
-
"X passes Y down the line...he looks to cross....SHOOTERING!" Yes, I've heard the term "Shootering" used on television before...that is, a cross between a shot and a cross...mind you it was in Korea
-
me too. or etoo
-
I agree. Full backs is priority. Would be nice to have him on our books tho. Owen, Martins and Saviola - three up front. Would scare any defence ...on paper. We'd probably rack up the highest numbers of offsides aswell
-
Same as for Zigic - NO. but for different reasons. Zigic I just don't like - and I'm sure we could do better with 8 mill. Cassano - good player, but shocking attitude.
-
what do u mean carragher's had a poor season? he scored this season didn't he?
-
Vidic??? I don't think he would be in the team of the season for all comps...his form has definitely dropped in the past couple of weeks. My team: VDS Richards Woodgate Carragher riise Ronaldo Essien Fabregas giggs Drogba martins
-
Would love him Ramos or Hitzfield here any day of the week. Ramos' style of play would suit the 'traditional' toon style of attacking football. BUT don't see either of them comin - and i'm sure roeder will be here for at least another season...
