If there’s 17M going into Ashley’s sky rocket off the back off a no then it’s going out with a bit of a bang. I’m not sure who will have put up the deposit or how it was divided but you’d imagine the Reuben’s and Staveley knew this was coming otherwise the idea of a working partnership between the 3 seems questionable to say the least.

If beIN didn’t know about this until now there’s no way that they’ll strike a deal to allow it. Hopefully they did know what was coming and Keys knew about it yesterday. The timing has to be significant, if they’ve been rejected then the PL can forget about piracy being resolved and will get much much worse. Good things don’t happen to our club so I’m currently in the it’s off camp.

So the only way Saudis can watch PL football for next season would be by piracy and they’ve just recently changed their policy around that off the back of WTO report and beoutq was shut down a year or so ago? We’re all missing something here. If the O&D test has failed and this is the Saudis response then they’re going to have some right fun with Qatar coming up. If they’ve passed you have to hope that the PL knew about this and were ok with it otherwise they’ll surely shaking their heads in disbelief.

Yeah, football was generally dying at that time, you had Heysel, social unrest, we had a half built soulless ground and a complete lack of money or ambition. We had some good players coming through who we’d sell on and replace them 1 or 2 players that looked decent on paper but didn’t really deliver. The season we spent money on Beasant, Thorn and Hendrie, promised much but we were very poor and they didn’t come good. Paul Goddard had miraculously kept us up one year with a late season scoring run, Darren Jackson did well for us and Paul Stephenson flattered and faded (I remember him putting in a “worldie” performance at Sheffield Wed in a game we didn’t win). We sold Beardsley, Waddle and Gazza over the period and we were a nothing club again. Thank the lord that SJH came along.

Of course he’s done fine, look at the table. Anyway, where did you think we’d finish under him? He’s a plastic Geordie, with an awful accent, he’s been shown to be clueless at times (the first 30 mins at home to Brighton were an embarrassment - we made them look like prime Barca, after that game I was convinced we were going down), he’s no oil painting but he can’t be criticised for our position in the league. I thought we’d be where our performances & stats put us, 18th-19th probably. In no way is Bruce getting credit for us someone being where we are. Thanks, so we both agree he’s over achieved. I’ll give him reluctant credit for that. Man City are currently dismantling yet another side, Bruce got absolute pelters for our recent performances against Man City, seriously, they play a different game to most other teams. Come on the Saudis, the rest of us may as well not bother at the moment.

To the question where’d you think we’d finish; how long you need? Well I think a fair few other managers would have had us higher in the league anyway. He’s been very lucky that there’s been 5 teams that have been shockingly bad this season. He’s been even luckier that he’s had a keeper that’s bailed him out so often this season and do you think our defenders will score the same number of goals this season again? In every aspect apart from points this has been a relegation season. If he’s lucky he’ll be kicked out on his arse this summer because if he’s still here when next season starts I fear for him and us. Well, that wasn’t the question was it? We all know the stats and by god I hope he’s not here next season ‘cos that’ll mean Ashley is still here. The last time we were relegated we finished behind Sunderland ffs and had a far better team than those around us. Dislike the bloke as much as you like but we just have to accept that he’s done fine.

To the question where’d you think we’d finish; how long you need?

*Seinfeld GIF* Ok, here’s a question, where’d you think we’d finish this season having appointed Bruce and realised that Joelinton was a Jaffa? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t particularly like the bloke, I’d rather he wasn’t born here as he forgot his roots and I don’t feel he has any real affinity with the club. I thought we’d be relegated.

There’s some absolute drivel spouted on here mind. The game could easily have been out if Watford’s reach by HT. We were dire the 2nd half but only lost due to 2 complete brain farts. I expected us to really struggle after lockdown but we’ve been safe since the 1st game against Sheffield U. There’s no point in criticising Bruce for this season and given that he’s had the misfortune of having Joelinton as his CF he’s done a pretty decent job. Let’s hope the takeover gets completed and we can move on. I fully expected us to be in a relegation battle and once we went bottom 3 I didn’t expect us to get back out. We’ve been helped by other teams being woeful but that’s down to them. He’s a perfect Ashley fit, I fear massively for us next season if Ashley and Bruce are still here.

Jack did ok as manager, his problem was that KK has retired and we went from an attacking free flowing 2nd division side to a 1st div side without our star man against much better teams. Jack decided that we needed to play direct and signed George Reilly and Tony Cunningham; we stayed up but it wasn’t pretty and that was with Beardsley, Waddle and an emerging Gazza. He couldn’t be arsed with the hassle and no doubt could see that the board weren’t going to give him any kind of decent budget and so he left. I’m so pleased he got to manage us, always seemed a top man, proud of his roots, hope he made up with Bobby.
