Anita's an interesting shout, he's surprisingly vocal, i often notice trying him to get players going again after the opposition have scored, and he has a fantastic attitude, he acts like a proper winner. Ultimately I don't think he has enough presence to really nail it though. Hatem or YoCabs for me.

Amazing what happened to him.

Hatem used to drive a Merc. Wasn't it said on here that he had an accident and was found to be uninsured?

Norwich City vs Newcastle United - 12/01/13 @ 3pm (not on TV)

I'd start Debuchy and Cabaye but I think Taylor might need a bit more easing in, considering his record. Cabaye won't play the full 90 obviously but if Jonas is back too, he can come on to provide legs for our midfield 3 in the second half. I'd prefer to have Marveaux in the middle but with our lack of options, I'd play him on the wing and put Cabaye in as the attacking midfielder, with Anita and Bigi playing behind. I think we can get a result but that's probably wishful thinking, they're a very decent side -
Completely agree with comments made earlier today regarding instilling some confidence in the young players and his crap man management. His style and mentality is so negative when we don't have certain players available, this obvious lack of faith in the young players' ability to win playing football will come out in them no matter what sound bites he gives when in public. The lack of recognisable style is also unforgivable, what are we trying to achieve in the long run here? He seems to have completely gotten muddled tactically of late too, losing the basics that he seemed to grasp in previous seasons. Playing long ball crap in a 4-3-3 with no runners, no movement and a useless lump of a striker? Make up your mind man, instead of constantly swapping and changing styles and shapes every 2 seconds. I care that we lost today but I wouldn't be so annoyed if we'd actually given it a proper go, instead of letting fear take over and putting in an incredibly half-hearted performance as a consequence. They were like rabbits in headlights today, completely left hung out to dry by their boss.

Regarding covering full backs, Everton had a really good system to compensate for when Baines or Jagielka pushed forward. The wingers would work as hard as they could to cover but more often than not, it would be Phil Neville filling in gaps and sort of acting as an auxiliary defender. Certainly the type of job Anita or Tiote could do for us but our midfield has been too fluid of late, there's not been enough solid cover. In fact Everton are a great example of why we could play a midfield 3 of Cabaye, Anita and Marveaux. None of their defending midfielders (Fellaini wasn't back a lot) are particularly physical but work unbelievably hard and have excellent positioning to compensate for their lack of physicality. We could easily do the same.

I think he'll be solid for them, but won't pull up any trees. I don't think he'll ever be the main striker there either, even if Torres goes in the summer.
-
Pardew's cited he's an excellent addition because we've been lacking quality in defence. There's no chance he'll be playing as a right midfielder after comments like that.
-
Those quotes really don't read well. I'm sure Colo is slightly more ambitious than returning at a relatively young age though, and doesn't he have a charity project that he needs to fund?
-
I'm not expecting him to pull up any trees individually but I think he'll have an immediate impact on the balance and intelligence of the side, with the former being something that needs to drastically improve. His crossing will be better than Simpson's too.
-
Yeah he presses his area well but in terms of going backwards he's not all that but honestly he shouldn't have to. If we pressed as a team properly this wouldn't be a problem. I agree, he can still be a part of us defensively, but we're not organised enough as a team when trying to get the ball back.
-
Marveaux works hard at pressuring centre backs but doesn't track back well, he just needs to be a body more than anything, he doesn't need to do anything special in that regard. We can still be solid defensively with him at the top of a midfield 3 with better organisation.
-
Alan, please stop making us so narrow when we need to find a way back into the game, this is what putting on all of your strikers does and makes us utterly predictable. It was clear as day today, that they were susceptible to being caught out on the flanks and yet we took off our only natural winger and pretty much just bombed it in the box. He panics too much and so do the rest of the team as a consequence. A new coach would be a huge help at the minute.
-
He was a lot narrower today, I thought. We really needed a bit more width to cause them problems, Perch really struggled for options at times. Bloody can't wait to see him back in the middle, it's been too long.

I'm not saying they shouldn't do it, but the praise they've been getting isn't justified on the evidence of tonight IMO. I thought they mixed it up well enough. Not a brilliant performance but a solid one, they were there for the taking defensively though and I think with a bit more of a Plan B, we'd have got something from the game. Maybe, IMO we played better on the deck than Everton and many people are criticising us for hoofing it too much. Obviously the result is what it is. I think we actually played it shorter than they did for the majority of the match but that's not really relevant to how they play overall, they do play to their strengths but aren't exclusively one style or another, I think there's a decent balance there.

Of course, no denying that, but we had lost all shape and organisation by 75 minutes. I think if we'd have been a bit smarter we could have been more potent up front while having a little extra protection at the back too. Our manager isn't much of a thinker in such situations though.

Just needs to listen to his idol. 'He who dares, wins, Derek'

Buy some players to fill our squad, you mentalist.

Good game, it was a shame he came off.

He was on speed for that first half an hour, he seemed so pumped up. Faded in the second apart from that chance. Get players like Marveaux, HBA and Cabaye supplying him and he'll be flying.
