I just don't like fickle people. Had either Drogba or Adebayor come to Newcastle you would have been the sort to run them out after their first season. Both similar players to Martins. Speed, athletic ability and power, but not the best touch or awareness. Surround them with the right players and play them often enough and they will be very productive though.

 

Simple as that. We have no choice but to play Martins everygame now. Let's see what happens with him playing alongside Viduka regularly then. We'll talk about this again in aaround four weeks.

you have to be kidding me if we ask Ash now how good adebayors touch is, he would say absolutely shite, his touch is fucking awful as is drogbas who knees it everywhere. also last season adebayor was absolutely awful he missed plenty of sitters, coincedence that he was on the bench last season alot (apart from when henry was injured), like martins, i think not.

Martins should have got the first one i thought, but the second one was a very good clearance off the line, no fault of martins it was going in, just class defending. Everyone goes on about Owen needing games and this shit, but martins has played less than Owen this season (scored more goals too) but nobody ever goes on about martins needing games to get his sharpness back, quite unfair really, and i'd rather have a striker that gets these chances than others that don't a la Ameobi.

Am I missing something or is it blatantly obvious that of that 16, Hoyte will play at centre back instead of Diarra or Song on the basis that he IS a centre back.

depends on who we put out there tbh, if we put out our best side then there is a good chance we can win but home advantage for them might just see them edge ahead, 2-1 either way.

He is a bigger loss than Owen as he is our best defender imo his reading of attacks and positioning is fantastic maybe one of the best defenders in the PL (as is Rozehnal too) and he has a cool new beard which makes him look like a gangster.

P.S i do trust Taylor to fill in but cacapa is a different class to him, i would also rather see Faye ahead of Taylor too because he is more experienced and i think his physical presence is better too.

Wssn't really a chance, he made his own problems like, he could have hit i first time on his left but he's lacking that sharpness due to being sat on his arse so he panicked a bit, took it too far so the angle was way too tight he was totally off balance and hit it with his wrong foot, wasn't really a sitter either but a good oppurtunity but he could have finished it off first time though, he would have done that last season.

Without him we lack pace, and we need that pace, it might not get goals every game but so many openings are created with it Owen would thrive off these openings and this is key to beating most teams, a la Derby. He has to start most games i think, especially away games for counter attacks. Apart from him we don't have anyone with real pace that threatens teams and its been apparent all season so far, its important to have a balance of power and pace and at the minute we have lots of Power and no Pace.
