Relegation - will we or won't we? *NO FIXTURE LISTS PLEASE*
Gallowgate Toon replied to ChrisJbarnes's topic in Football
We have some very winnable games imo, and we shouldn't really go down. -
We can easily win 4 of the remaining games and stay up. I personally think we will get about 13 points from these games. Look to next season.

Hardly anymore, you not seen the new mercurial vid? he looks pretty lean to me.
-
Given - Reliable, and still very good keeper. Beye - Class Player really. Cacapa - His reading of the game far exceeds any of our other defenders. Faye - He is what Taylor should be: Reliable, hard as nails and good aerially. Enrique - Inexperienced but technically very good and imo a decent defender. Duff - Pacy and skillful, what is necessary for a winger something that Milner lacks alot of. Barton - Good player gets too much stick because of what he said about the fans. Emre - Lightweight but creative. Zoggy - The main threat why anybody would drop him i'll never know. Martins - 7 Goals this season and not played very well, and not been played consistently whether you hate him or love him he is our biggest threat uptop and his very respectable record for us means he has to play. Viduka - Good player techinically and offers more than Owen.
-
Better player imo, but his confidence has totally gone due to factors of last season.

Aston Villa V Newcastle Pre-Match Thread 9/2/08 12.45 Kick Off
Gallowgate Toon replied to Jamie's topic in Football
Well i'd rather go attack for this game. Given Beye Cacapa Faye Enrique Milner Emre Barton Duff Owen Martins Draw i reckon, which i'd be happy with. -
Yep they should all be back during the start of this week!! Thank the Lord, i feel alot more confident with those three in the side.
-
I know Faye and Beye are back for the next game but is Martins?

Jewell: NUFC 'not coming back' for Giles Barnes

He is their best player and played every game for them since he returned from his injury. -
All i know of Eddie Johnson is that he is dead quick.

** FA CUP, Arsenal v Newcastle , Sat 26th @ 15:00 **
Gallowgate Toon replied to Skirge's topic in Football
Best time to play the Arse, they should be a little rattled after their thrashing. -
Wouldn't mind Essien on my side like, Alex and Faye too.

This. I don't understand the constant choice between these 2, its better for the team to keep both.

Keegans Wants Robson For Newcastle Revolution
Gallowgate Toon replied to Thespence's topic in Football
Won't sign, has no Prem experience and that is what KK wants. -
I wasn't surprised with a draw tbh. Keegan has only really taken one training session so he can't implement his philosophy to the players yet. But you could see he changed one thing using CB's as the extra man going forward forcing Bolton deeper but offering another option and surrounding the box. He needs more time and his own team before the Entertainers are back.

Keegan wants three players in the window, ready made prem stars

Bentley please but away from the Prem Nasri -
Sorry but that's just not true. How does Martins offer far more? Neither the stats nor watching both play back that up. They both offer about the same - i.e. about 10-15 league goals a season. Martins is constantly looking for the ball, his natural game mean he goes after the ball and battles for it, they say defences starts from the front and he is constantly putting players under pressure, not only that but he also gets the ball in deep and runs, his major problem is that he isnt inteligent with possession adn is very slow to release the balla t right times. Which leads him to lose the ball at times (which he goes back to get again) or play the wrong ball. Owens on the other hand is invisible when we dont have the ball in attacking areas, he rarely battles for hte ball and doesnt come deep for the bal (righlty) becasue that isnt his game, he is primarily a finisher and that is it, his link up play is ok, but again that isnt really part of his game. For me, Owen has only one strength to his game which is finishing, Martins has alot more, but none of them are refined. The fact that despite this he's still good for 10-15 goals puts him ahead for me. Martins doesn't graft a lot for me. This defending from the front thing isn't something he does. It seems to be a myth which people put around though. As much of a myth that Owen is such a great finisher tbh Better finisher than Martins imo. I agree

Martins did get 2nd highest assists for us last season though so you can't say he doesn't contribute anything. I think Martins has 3/4 assists this season so far aswell doesn't he?
-
Martins when high on confidence is the easy winner for me as he looks a fantastic striker on top form. Its all about him getting the confidence first though.

Martins to Arsenal was newspaper 2+2=5 imo. Were Inter fans really that sorry to see him leave? They have far better players than he'll ever be there now. Because he was very effective at Inter. In a league where Pace is relatively scarce Martins tore past defenders very easily. His goal scoring record was very good when you consider how many times he was just a substitute for them.
