That'd be sweet. Big group of us coming down from Aberdeen for this one. Because of the distance/cost, we only get down to about 2-3 games a season, and after seeing some incredibly frustrating games last season (0-0 with Pompey, 2-2 with Wigan) it'd be awesome to be there on promotion day. After the Blackpool game we've only got another 4 fixtures. Assuming that Forest have a similar schedule (I haven't checked their fixtures), and given that there's currently an 8 point game, all we need to do is gain another 5 points on them to guarantee promotion at the Blackpool game. Win our game in-hand, beat Forest, then match their results in the other fixtures and we're up. I've been very cautious all season, but I'm starting to get caught-up in the whole thing. If there's any club in the world that can mess this up it's us, but we're in a great position now. I think we'll go up.

End of Season N-O Shindig (Play @ SJP) - Tues 4th May 18.30PM - TONIGHT
Fret Astaire replied to Stu's topic in Football
Right, sod it. At the moment, count me in. It depends how much work I get over April really (to fund transport, accommodation, etc.), but if I need to pull out I'll be able to give plenty notice and I'm sure you won't have trouble finding someone else. Can't wait! -

Christ, I'm so tempted to come down from Aberdeen for this. -
Christ, not exactly a goal machine over there is he?

Nobby Solano signs for Leicester City until the end of the season
Fret Astaire replied to Weznufc's topic in Football
CaulkinTheTimes It's a NO to NOL. CH tells Chronicle that #Nufc will not be signing Solano: "He was training with us ... It was a courtesy thing." There you go. -
That's a great story, pal!

£10m would be a very good deal for him but I think he's the last player we should be thinking about selling. Taylor has his detractors but he's clearly one of the best defenders in this league, he really loves the club, and there's a real chance he could become club captain within the next few seasons. A strong season in this league could do him the world of good and if/when we eventually do go up he'll be a lot stronger because of it. I think people are definitely reading into this too much. Why would we have played him yesterday and risked injury if he was offski? Doesn't make sense.

Newcastle United 3 - 0 Reading - 15/08/09 - post match reaction from page 22

You mean as in Xisco...!? Carroll has twice the potential Xisco has displayed since he arrived, and is younger - with the right coaching , esp by the likes of Shearer, he would turn out to be an very good CF. He's also been given more of a chance than Xisco has too. Something missing from Carroll's game for me, not sure what it is but there's just something not there. He doesn't get in enough goal scoring positions, and neither does Ameobi. They both had a field day yesterday against a small Reading side, they'll find it a lot harder against Wednesday. What annoys me most with Shola even though he got a hat-trick yesterday is still his lethargic attitude even when it comes to scoring goals. Several times when we had made a move forward and instead of busting a gut to get into the box he would still just toddle up and just be at the edge of the box not being a danger. At least Carroll puts a shift in. I don't think either of them are natural strikers, they just don't get in the penalty area enough. Carroll is at least a legit target man and his work in defending set pieces was vital. We need a proper goal scorer in that team though. Agree with that completely. To utilise Carroll's ability to full effect he needs a pacey lad up top with him who can get on the end of those flick ons and who he can feed off. Spot on. He's clearly very strong and very good in the air, but a lot of the good work he does goes to waste because there's not a smaller, faster striker buzzing around to feed from his flick-ons and hold-up play. If we manage to bring in a busy, pacey player to play alongside Carroll his target man play will start to look a lot more effective, and Carroll will look better as a result. -
Glasgow Rangers player (reportedly Kris Boyd) at the game today
Fret Astaire replied to a topic in Football
One of the laziest players I have ever seen but he seems to score in just about every time he gets a decent amount of time on the pitch. Good goalscorer but the last thing we need is another immobile striker. Can you imagine Boyd, Stroller and The Duke in a triple pronged attack? PHWOAR. -
Europe here we come! On the plus side, with Owen and Xisco likely to leave in the Summer, at least we'll have more than one recognised striker on the books before September hits...

Pre Match - Newcastle United vs West Ham Utd - Sat 10th Jan @ 15:00

Hopefully Spinny Scotty will be away by the weekend. Who else would they play through the middle? Mullins and Noble? I think Geremi and Guthrie could cope with that. Jonas on the right and Zog on the left, Duff sitting in behind Owen. It's definitely winnable but my gut feeling is that it'll end up 0-0 or 1-1. I'd like to see Xisco getting a game but that's about as likely as Kinnear getting a Page 3 modelling contract. Actually, what the fuck am I talking about? Dutty Custard is gonna come off the bench and bang in his usual 6 goals before leaving the match with every female in the stadium on his arm. "Brap brap" indeed. -
I wouldn't touch Lovenkrands with a barge pole tbh. He was a half-decent player for Rangers whose pace made him seem a lot better than he was. Unless Charlie's leaving I see no point whatsoever in pursuing him. Elano would be awesome if he could recapture the form from the first half of last season. Anyone know what's happened to him this season?
-
£3m for Ryan Taylor would be a cracking bit of business imo. He'd be a fantastic squad player to slot in every now and then and his set pieces are pretty good as well. If we're looking for extra cover, we could definitely be doing a lot worse. Get him signed Joe.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
Fret Astaire replied to Pilko's topic in Football
What's wrong with Xisco like? Wasn't this guy supposed to be a pretty promising player in the Spanish league last season, and now he can't even get in the team ahead of Andy Carroll? Must've shagged Joe's wife or something. -
Sunderland appoint Steve 'I bleed black and white' Bruce as new manager
Fret Astaire replied to cp40's topic in Football
Hahaha... and people saw we're the ones to never give the manager a chance? The boy's just got his foot in the door and has delivered them 4 credible results and the stupid thick twats are already on his back mackems.gif. Not that I think he'll be a good appointment or anything. Here's hoping he "does a Sammy Lee" -
Dutty = dirty Custard = period blood and/or semen Mmmm, tasty!

What exactly is "dutty custard," and how would one go about acquiring said acquiring said scrumptious dessert treat?

I was at the game, think it's a dislocated shoulder... it's a shame, he was having a reasonably decent game too. You should see the size of their sub keeper like, Olejnik or something... fat bastard!

Nesta and Terry. ... nah, Stevie T and Faye.
