  1. Cockney is the term used to describe any person said to be born within the sound of the Bow Bells - the bells of St. Mary-Le-Bow Church ("Bow Church") - in Cheapside, London EC2.

Dennis Frank Wise (born 16 December 1966 in Kensington, West London) 7 miles west of St. Mary-Le-Bow Church.

Michael James Wallace Ashley (born 1963 in Burnham, Buckinghamshire) 30 miles west of St. Mary-Le-Bow Church.

    big lugs?

  2.

'Broken windows of sooty brick houses, dirty shops selling cheap fruits and vegetables at every corner, immigrant teenage gangs on bikes.'

Racist overtones aside, he's made a pretty apt description. It is a s*** hole. That said, Holloway, Finsbury Park etc around the Emirates isn't much better either.

Lets just drop a bomb on north London.

some parts of north london are nice, primrose hill, tufnell park etc

I prefer the rough bits

You can't sit down for a Iskandar kebab, with all the trimmings, washed down with half a bottle of wine at 4am in Primrose Hill.

  3. What has Croydon got to do with Tottenham? it's a completley different part of London, that's if you think Croydon is actually in London.

Did he/they mean Clapton? I spent a few years living just off murder mile at the bottom of Lower Clapton Road, rough as a badgers arse.

I would say Charlton is nearer to Tottenham than it is to Croydon (as the crow flies), although both Charlton and Croydon are south of the river.  (they're all Crystal Palace fans in Croydon)

Yeah I was thinking that. Tottenham is North London & Croydon is deep, deep South London. Smertin must've got robbed or something in Croydon although I don't know why he would be there in the first place.

Smertin played for Charlton didn't he? That's not too far from Croydon

  4.

The mole was probably Terry Mac, definitely the Keegan camp. Already discussed in the media thread.

Terry Mac is someone I would of liked to see the back of years ago, there is something about his constant hanging around at the club, the bloke is bad juju. (conscious or not)

  5. Ian W, where do you live? I've noticed a lot of your posts are very balanced (i.e. not pro board, not anti board).

It's just that everyone living in Newcastle, or at least the surrounding area, are united in one thing. They feel betrayed by Ashley and co. The feeling here is incredibly intense.... more so than at any other point in my lifetime. The whole thing has pushed everyone to the edge, and (quite rightly in my opinion) no one can think of a positive slant to put on Ashley and co's handling of this.

As much as I admire your posts for trying to see it both ways, there is very little chance that people will forgive and forget here.

Think you might be right about the geography thing. I'm not in Newcastle, and I blame both sides. I can still see Ashley making the club huge again.

I am from Newcastle and I think both sides must take blame. I also think both sides wanted to move the club forward but had widely differing views on how to go about it.

It's a huge shame that a compromise and common ground couldn't be found.

I live 2 or 3 miles from the ground and agree with the lad from Benwell.

  6. This predicament was a double edged sword, on one hand Ashley brings Keegan back, a massive move, which in itself caused some mixed feelings, but any rationality tends to fade with Keegans aura, and it wasn't long until we were all believers again.  On the other side you have a setup that has been proving fruitful, the players that have been signed up look quality, but then it appears that they got more power hungry, and started to transgress into Keegans area even more, obviously anyone who knows Keegan, knows what will happen if this is the case.

The shame is that with a more compromising other half, either side would of worked, and worked well.

  7. It seems the problems, whatever they may be, began with the departure of Mort.  I've been happy with the setup myself, and looking forward to the season ahead.  This whole thing has been the biggest kick in the balls i've ever felt regarding all things NUFC, the misery of the past was at least expected to some degree.

And as far as being taken over is concerned, shelling out wads of money doesn't always buy you good players, we as Newcastle fans should only be too aware of that.

  8. Quite simply a walking legend!

Please KK, get back on the great train toon, stick two fingers up at Ashley, Wise, and most importantly the media, and lead us to wherever you choose, because we all know we'll just love the ride!

    In KK we trust!

    No Ashley, no KK.

  9. Even if he is now staying, don't you think this whole fiasco makes Keegan's position virtually untenable?

Not at all, if anything it makes him stronger, if he can come out of a clash with the board with his job intact.

If there even was a row, and not just discussions.

Agreed, the one thing I want to see more than anything after today's events, is Keegans balls.
