  1. 2-1 win for blue star at N Shields. 568 crowd with what seemed like an even split of both sets of fans. North Ferriby at home next round but currently scheduled to clash with toons 1st home game :(

  2. Might go to North Shields with Blue Star tomorrow. Blue Stars FA cup debut since their reincarnation. 2 buses of 70 seats in total going with plenty on a reserve list so should be a good crowd. Pre match pints in Chirton social club lined up for the star fans from 1.30ish.

That volley against the Mackams… 10 years old at the top of the Gallowgate… absolute bedlam…

1980 NYD? Where the hark now hear the Geordies sing, song originated. Worked with his brother Jimmy at the old Carricks bakery and was great listening to all the stories about Tommy. Jimmy was on total sport alongside John Gibson tonight. RIP Tommy.

France Argentina coming up in the Olympics should be fun. France have Lacazette, Matetta and Olise as their stars, Argentina have Otemendi and Alvarez as theirs.

Can never find any Olympic football. Is it via the bbc red button?

Been reading Schmeichel‘s book (it was 99p, please forgive me) and Ferguson’s reaction here is interesting

“In the Premier League, we were overtaken by Arsenal, who found incredible form in the run-in and beat us in a decisive game at Old Trafford, for which we were missing so many players. The final nail in our coffin was a 1–1 draw at home to Newcastle after which Fergie exploded in fury–at Ole, of all people. I was injured and watching from near the dugout when Rob Lee went through on goal in the last minute of the game. Ole sprinted after him, caught up and took him down on the edge of the box. Uriah Rennie showed him the inevitable straight red and he trotted off–after a pat on the head from Becks–to a standing ovation. I never saw Fergie so angry. He detested cynical play. As soon as we got to the dressing room he screamed at Ole, absolutely bawled him out. ‘That is NOT who we are. We’re Manchester United. We don’t do that!’ he yelled, and even in the middle of this hairdryer hurricane I think all of us–Ole included–respected his values.”

I don't remember that happening. My memory has a toon player clean through, cynically brought down but the perpetrator only shown a yellow. Long time ago and memory not what it used to be so could be wrong of course.

Are next season's fixtures out? I've got to visit newly promoted Chesterfield and Bromley to renew my 92 ground list and I read that London City lionesses are ground sharing with Bromley. Think they're in the same division so might be an option to tick the ground off.

Whey fancy that. London City Lionesses away 1st game on a mens international weekend too. It's an option.

Intrigued why that micro nonce gets a gig in Newcastle at Cosy Joes when he spends every weekend slagging us off for the mackems.

He still there? Fkn cheek of him. That's what pisses me off. They hate Newcastle so much half of them spend massive amounts of time here. What's that song? "If you hate Newcastle clap your hands"?

Should be if you hate Newcastle divvent gan.

  8. Think these have  got a friendly away at Blackpool next weekend. Only noticed cos am looking at going down there this weekend so had a curious look at Blackpools fixtures. Wonder if Wee Paedo-phillie does one of his bar take overs for the MLFs?

  10. The lad has had his summer wasted. Wish he'd jump on a plane and come home. When he bangs in his 1st goal next season I hope he reveals a t-shirt saying "See that Gareth?". Obviously I'd like it worded more strongly.

I got this email from a north east activity company who promote “what’s on” and that. Tonight at 9.30pm, they’re live streaming a light show from the quayside. They’re beyond weird man. Have a rest from it all, it’s summer. They need to fill the void of not being Geordie for a few weeks. Absolutely lifting man. All for the new shirt I imagine?

    Broken

Probably as many there as they get at home games.

We may have won nothing in what feels like forever, but could you imagine a kit reveal of similar stature for Sunderland?

    I'm struggling tbh.

Who would it feature, where would it be shot, what memories would they hark back to?

We celebrate the region, and more specifically our club. We embrace the love we all have for the place, musicians and artists write songs about their affinity or memories of the place.

I just don't get that same civic pride when I think of Sunderland, could be wrong mind but other than vaux and ship building I've got nowt else

Undoubtedly any memories would centre heavily around beating the mags.

In fairness Robinson has St Mirren playing very well with a 5th place finish and in to Europe. Still, I imagine it’ll be an underwhelming appointment

I keep a close eye on St Mirren and have been doing a few games a season for years...when there's no toon game of course. I agree he's done well. Managed top league, top 6 finishes for the 1st time in decades in the last 2 seasons but i would argue they should have done better. Got a habit of losing to struggling sides like Ross County and St Johnstone etc. He'll do nowt in the championship.

:D old farts like me aren't familiar with such modern practices. No wonder I thought it was unusual.

  15. Obviously can't be helped and don't want to mock any ones condition but couldn't help but notice Ryan Fraser has a curious skin condition when he had his shirt off at the end of the game. Big, circle like birthmarks. Reminded me of a twister mat.

36 pages on our `meltdown` SMB so appropriate

Best result they've had all season yesterday. Meanwhile I've got Ross Co v Raith play off game on. Saltire in one corner of the ground with a Sunderland crest on one side and Raith on the other. Raith 4-1 down so the owner won't be so happy today.

  17. Watched most of the Scottish championship play off between Raith and Partick. Raith at home and 2-1 up after the 1st leg. Partick won 2-1 last night and went to pens after ET. Raith missed the 1st pen but eventually won the shoot out. I'm  sure Partick lost the play off last season too. They missed good chances in normal time and their keeper was either mm away or got a hand on all Raiths pens too. Enjoyable game unless you're a Partick fan.

  18. Seems like the re-match with Easington, after the heated play off is one most are looking forward to. As well as trips to far flung and exotic places like Guisborough, Penrith, Kendal, even Carlisle.

Looks like Newcastle Blue Star have been promoted to division one even though they lost the play offs.

Even a chance of FA cup ties being played in Scotswood.

Seen that. Great film and very upbeat.

However, can't beat Marvelous for that.

Think that was suggested viewing when I turned Bromley Boys off. Next on my list I think.
