Have had a look for this weekend - probs gonna be either a trip to Newcastle Blue Star (for a look at their set up) or Bedlington Terriers.
Been going quite a lot lately as quite local. Aye it's a decent set up. Big marquee with a bar in. Used to be that anyone could sit at the tables in there but as they've grown more popular i think they've become a bit more selective these days. Not 100% sure but think you have to book tables of 6 as hospitality. Not expensive like. Likewise they've got a decked area with picnic tables at the front of it where you can sit with a pint but there's a sign up saying ST holders only but again not sure if they are strict in that respect. Doing well in the league though after promotion to NL2. Won the 1st 7 then drew the last couple. Usually about 300 at the home games.

They a Sunday League side?#
Oh - Northern Alliance, I see after checking. I'll discuss with the lad I look after next week - to see what he wants to do. Whitley is an alternative, as are Ashington (which would be a drive up and back) Blyth an option too, but £17 for a seat + me as carer seems a bit steep. Will see.
Do North Shields Athletic play at John Spence school? Not a very attractive venue if so.

I imagine it would aye. On the other hand, if you want to grow revenue you might want to cater for international fans, who would probably be willing to spend more on a per match basis than locals (thinking club shop sales, etc.) Under the current system it’s practically impossible for fans from abroad to plan a trip to come and take in a game. Imagine the scenes if Newcastle play abroad (not hard at this moment in time) and as fans you would only know a week in advance if you were succesful in getting a ticket. Would you book travel and accommodation in advance?
When I lived in Newcastle there was a waiting list for season tickets. Looks like demand once again far outstrips supply. A SJP expansion can’t come soon enough.
Don't know about this season but DFDS used to do packages that included a match ticket. Met 2 Fortuna Sittard ST holders (father and son) in town the night before the Arsenal game. Had the doubletree by Hilton included at the airport. On a side note, it will be interesting to see membership take up next season. Suppose those who manage to get tickets will keep it and those that don't will seriously question its value.

The older one's 55 FFS not 15. If he was a mackem we'd be ridiculing him on here. No excuse for the OTT heavy handed policing though.

6 wins out of 6 for newly promoted Blue Star after a 5-0 win v Brandon Utd yesterday. Bizarrely seen a rear car door open, a lad flat out on the back seat and a pool of spew on the pavement beneath his head after I left the ground. Can of drink visible inside. Hope it wasn't his car. No way he'd drive home.

Spoke to a mate who’s a Chelsea fan and member over the weekend. Their system is interesting.
You accumulate member loyalty points for games you attend.
E.G Liverpool at home gets you 10 points. Whereas a less glamorous fixture in the League Cup vs Barsnley might get you 30 points.
When tickets are released to members at 10am the starting threshold may be 200 points. This then reduces at 1pm to 100 points and then by 5pm to 50 points etc. All members tickets will then be sold on that day.
Basically, the more points/loyalty you have will more or less guarantee you a ticket to a game you want to attend as long as you log in at the right time.
He says it’s a great and fair system. Been plenty of times he’s missed out solely because he hasn’t logged in at 10am and it’s his own fault.
Really not sure why we can’t implement something similar.
It is an interesting one but the way things have been since the takeover, it seems like members haven't necessarily been choosing which games they go to. It's been more of a case of people getting to whichever games they've been lucky enough to get tickets for. The points , big or small would just be given according to which games each applicant had been successful for. Takes away the 'loyalty' aspect IMO.

Old bloke here. Not familiar with amazon prime. Can you choose to watch the documentary anytime or is it a case of watch it at the time it's aired or miss it?

The question for future games is do you skip the ballot and risk the resale, at least you can choose not to be back row of level 7.
I suppose if they're happy to sit anywhere most will enter the ballot as it gives them an extra chance of getting a ticket. If your physically unable to reach areas of the ground or fussy with the view you'd probably only try the the resale option.

I think you’ve got too caught up in the specific issue of Haydn’s mates gall bladder. He’s just used it as an illustration of the principle of allocated seats being unsuitable for some people
It could equally have be an 80 year old with a dodgy hip and bad eyesight being lobbed in level 7, it could be a 6 year old being scared shitless amongst the radgies in Strawberry Corner and so on and so on
Thats the point that‘s being made
Theres already unhappy people who are posting in here who were successful in the ballot, but been given seats they would never have chosen to pay £44 for
This isn’t not about loyalty, or working hours, or gall bladders, or entitlement
Its about people attending an event in a stadium being able to select an available seat that suits their personal preferences and budget
Which is standard industry practice
It would make sense to offer successful ballot applicants a ticket in a particular area/areas 1st. Those offered can then take it or leave it. Seems the way it is people are "stuck" with tickets in unsuitable or inaccessible areas.

Dack's wife used to go out with Chris from Love Island who's a Sunderland fan
Olivia Atwood isn't it? Bet she'll love Sunderland. Saying that Blackburn's hardly glamorous. In reality they're probably moving from Alderly Edge or somewhere in Cheshire to Darras Hall.

Class from Trafford. His granda is old Trafford you know.

Think demand merely to get in and see the 1st team these days is so great, and people will be so hungry for toon games by then that this will be well attended.

I think the last of the long term season ticket discount deals ends at the end of next season. That will end the current system of some season ticket holders paying different rates. That will be quite a big % increase to those coming off the deal.
Once they have all the pricing level I could see more significant price increases, as it stands season tickets are much better value than buying match by match.
One area I think they could get away with putting the prices up without too much heat is Platinum club/1892. Premium/padded seats with dedicated bars are often a good bit more expensive at other clubs than a standard plastic seat with access to the general concourse. Then look to keep eg the family enclosure as affordable as possible.
I can only see price rises in the future and I guess the question is how to do it fairly.
"Then look to keep eg the family enclosure as affordable as possible."
I think the club probably regret having such a massive family section tbh. Ashley was happy to make it that big cos he was happy to fill seats by all means. There'd probably be some uproar if somehow they reduced it massively now.

Gordon McQueen has died
ex Airdrie manager. RIP
Played for St Mirren too (my favourite club up there). Personally can only remember him from his playing days at Man U and Leeds (I think). RIP Gordon.

I remember the days. We had an awful record when it came to those feckin pitches.
Aye, was that game at QPR on plastic? Where we were 4-0 up at HT to draw 5-5.
-
Aye, I think Villa are best equipped to take something off Liverpool. Even a draw would be a massive help as we'd possibly only need 1 win/3 draws from our remainder. Brighton will be hard on Thursday but they've lost at Forest and to Everton in recent weeks. Conceding 3 and 5 respectively. Great win today but a bit hit and miss. We've got 2 chances of qualifying. Match Man U results or fend Liverpool off. Fulham last day for Man U so maybe Mitro will help us.

The one on Montjuic? Didn't know that. Did Espanyol used to play there or have I made that up?
I think you're right. I think Espanyol did play there.

Think as it stands Brighton could finish on 71 and as pointed out so could Liverpool. A win v Brighton would see us on 68 and Brighton could still get a maximum of 68 too. Hopefully our GD would better theirs but lots of ifs and buts.
-
Think I've worked out that if Brighton fail to win tonight that would mean us beating Brighton would ensure we finish above them. Hard game of course.

We need another two points to guarantee Spurs and Villa can't finish above us. Most likely one given out vastly superior goal difference.
Because they have to play each other we are guaranteed to finish above one of them.

As you say people with low pts can buy to boost their pts total and sell on but with the possibility of ID checks it's not without risk these days.
