Reminded me far too much of the Wigan performance in the Carling Cup. Just really really bad.

This has been fucking awful. >

I live in London and often go to games... ...Newcastle away games!

lol are you thick? Wembley Park tube station is about 15 minutes walk away, maximum. I take it you don't watch the news then? Where they had this whole report of how long it takes to leave Wembley and get to the Tube station? That even if you left 5 minutes from the end it was likely to take you an hour and a half because of policing and sheer numbers. I can imagine the rush to get in is quite bad as well, depending on what time people arrive and how well the ticketing system is working.

Latest score from World Cup... Germany 9 - 0 Argentina 70 minutes gone.

Not against Charlton, twice I've been there in the last two seasons and 2-0 and 3-1 defeats weren't much fun. Wasn't much better when I saw the same fixture at home. 1-1 draw. Was there to see our 2-0 win at West Ham last season...my only 'away' win I'm afraid.

I remember the old classic game, 'Where in Time is Celestine Babayaro' on the Mega Drive...at least I think that's what it was called...
-
He started on the left in the 2-2 draw with FC Groningen. (I think this pretty much confirms the transfer!)

Butt is certainly valuable in certain games, but for me he still gives the ball away too much, so although he wins quite a few challanges, he often wastes having the ball. Geremi I don't think is 'solid' as much as Butt, but has a sweeter touch and does provide the set piece option. It'll be interesting to see Geremi with Barton also in the side, I think they could compliment each other well.

I'm amazed either set of supporters would have Lennon in their side. He has to be one of the most over-rated footballers of the last ten years. He has pace and a bit of trickery, but I can't see much more that makes him any different to someone like Agbonalahor or even Dyer before his leg break. He can't pass, can't cross and mentally for someone who can get two yards ahead of anyone, his thinking is five yards behind. I've seen quite a lot of the player having quite a few Spurs supporters as mates, and even they have began to realise what I've been saying is true. Honestly I don't think he's have the player SWP is.

Zoggy is back to his best and it would be interesting to see if Sam keeps his 4-3-3, Zoggy on either the left-side of the attacking three, or on the left of the CM's. He's never really convinced anywhere in the middle but as long as he keeps up this form Big Sam will have to fit him in somewhere!

Umm, the problem with his article is when Owen came on against Villa we actually changed to more of a 4-4-2 with him and Vids up front. Or was that just me that noticed that?
-
I've seen the highlights and to be honest it's much more shocking defending than anything else. At least with a few of them all it needed was a defender to whack it clear but they were too busy doing anything but. I reckon at least three or four of them came from inside the six-yard box and most were rebounds. One was sort of his fault when he shouldn't have let it slip under his body, but even that wasn't heading in and had to be put in from the rebound.
-
I reckon Jesus Christ would have given it away less if he was playing today, that's for sure.
-
Don't think we should make any changes yet, the bench doesn't look great for what we need right now. Shola maybe for Viduka if he continues in the same vain, or Owen for the same and play a 4-4-2 trying to knock balls through them rather than long-ball.
-
Pretty much sums up our midfield there. Butt keeps giving it away and Smith keeps diving in. Viduka needs to try and actually win a header rather than trying to cheat although the ref hasn't helped the game flow at all. Pretty poor so far, but at least we're 0-0 with Villa missing two decent chances.

Well seeing as they were listening for offers for him about a week before the season started, I think his time at City is relatively short. They've been saying he's not big enough to be a keeper which seems mental to me, but then again as Toon fans we've heard that one before!

A respected poster on another board posted the following: Personally I don't want to kick up a shit storm, but I just wanted it conveyed to others that we just won't stand for this stupid behaviour, and if the masses stand up to it we can drive the cunts out of the club.

Well apparantly some of the travelling support down to Bolton wasn't too happy with his goal and chants of a racist nature "Chopra is p**i" were heard. Totally not on in my opinion, some football supporters still love living up to the narrow-minded thuggish stereotype which really has no place in the game. We made a mistake with never giving Chopra a fair chance, but that doesn't mean he's got true Premiership quality. He may have never made it anywhere with us, who knows. What I do know is that this lad has so much ambition and willingness to do well he joined a club he rightly knew he was going to get stick for in an attempt to better himself and his career. Fair play to the lad and I wish him all the best at the club, even though I do hope they generally do crap. As for the scum lowering themselves to such a nonsensical level with the chants, even if he's playing for Sunderland I've got much more respect for him than you.
-
He'll still predict us to lose every other game...and get hammered by Liverpool!
-
These commentators on Century are miles better than those chumps on BBC Newcastle, they're actually trying to describe the game rather than chat about bollocks for 75% of the game.
-
I'm a billionaire businessman...I know, I'll invest heavily into a football club without doing any research or checking any of the books. That's why I'm such a good businessman. Somehow I think that's a load of bollocks to be fair. The papers really are bored at the moment aren't they?
-
Beat me to it! Haven't seen this years database, but sure he'll be just as good if not better!

I think Luque is relatively lightweight on the ball, but in all fairness, the Spanish league is like that, it has taken some imports a while to adapt (Garcia was the prime example) whilst those with strength over there tend to do better (see Kanoute). I don't honestly think he's played enough Premiership games to truly adapt his game, but I think doing this is far from impossible. And I would almost agree with the mental factor, that injury he had really has scarred him to an extent, I think he does suffer from worry about being injured and maybe that's why he's sometimes not great in a challenge. Signs in that Celtic did show he has improved and perhaps is willing to do more so. Maybe with Butt and Barton flying in in training sessions will help his cause! I say he has to be given a chance, but I feel as though I've personally said that for a while. It's clear Sam wants to either give him his chance or just improve his value. We'll just have to wait and see.

We've needed this type of midfielder for what seems an age. We tried (and failed dismally) with Faye, so if the price is right, I'd love to bulk up our midget midfield with someone like that...and yes, we all know we need defenders, but we can't just ignore perfectly good targets in other positions.
