  1. As I hinted earlier, Keegan turned the job down this afternoon. And it wasnt Shearer but another fans favourite who was offered the assistants job. Where this leaves Ashley and Mort now I dont know, maybe KK will have a change of heart, doubt it.
  2. the fact is for all their pretence the press know absolutely nothing. starting to get pissed off with the whole ''sources in the north east have told sky sports that david moyes is on the shortlist''. aye cos ashley is going around telling everybody his 'top 5 favourite ever greatest managers who he wants for the job' list.
  3. Anybody heard anything about Keegan turning the job down this afternoon? .....
  4. Classic! just watching big bro and richardsons cousin going ''wheres sunderland? theyre crap arent they? his dad wouldnt let him move there unless they gave kieron a shitload of money!'' ah classic. I remember the crap they were spouting a couple of months ago ''there is a feelgood factor about the SOL, everybody wants to play for roy''

    Penalty Taker?

i dont know how anybody can say owen. do you not remember when he was taking them for liverpool and they were barely reaching the goal
  6. in all fairness i thought carr was good going forward when he was right back. seemed a lot fitter than previously. we had butt sitting and the other midfielders were just bombing forward at pace, obviously this will b more difficult against better teams. played some nice simple football. in fact i reckon thats the least long balls ive seen in a few years. also noticed a lot of through balls both through to owen and shola and to the wingers. i reckon this was just down to pools being crap and us exploiting space IF(!!) shola can carry on the form he showed before he was injured and what he showed today then i think a lot of people may be in for a big shock at the reebok when he starts ahead of martins.
  7. Good Craic at the match. Rozenhal looked assured enough, i thought nzogbia was a different gravy he was busting a gut to get back and wasnt afraid to take people on. Shola was immense and was gettin some good songs ''hes only got one hip'' ''hes got a brand new hip'' and dozens of choruses of do the ameobi. He was pissin himself laughing at all the songs. Owen looked quite sharp and there was one point where shola and owen played a couple of one twos before sholas shot was saved, would have been quality. dyer looked good as was barton altho i thought he looked a bit overweight. huntington was w#nk and cant keep the ball to save his life. i hate to say it of my favourite player but nobby was looking really slow. the keeper who was literally two yards from the toon fans was gettin alsorts of abuse and then when he dropped the ball into the net ........... wow, i think that might be giving him nightmares for a few weeeks. best bit of craic all night was some lad singin ''keano he w#nks his ......... you know'' with every possible thing put in there, kids grandma etc lasted about 20 mins ps. all the players were wearing heart rate monitors whilst playin so obviously sam has got this sort of thing set up already

    Simon Clifford

This guy has got it spot on! In this country they throw the kids into teams far too early and half the time base the position that they will play on their size which is ridiculous at such a young age. My first born is gonna get skills coaching as soon as he can walk..... the geordie pele
  9. to be honest he was a nutjob last season and a big risk on those wages. just imagine if we had signed him on 70grand a week then hed carried on like he did at arsenal asking to come off because his head was gone
  10. Well distin is in the bag tbh. Notice how I beat nsg by a full 7 minutes with that one. Not too sure of his motives seen as he has been called worse than shit every time hes come back for being a money grabbing prick....... oh wait im starting to see his motives
  11. distin to toon ..... fact
  12. Not being funny but it seems EVERY player Newcastle are linked with have been "sounded out" by Spurs in some way. In regards to Domi, I agree just a shame his head went! What do you expect from someone who talks constantly from their arse? Indeed

    NUFC.com

Really pisses me off when arguing with older fans they call you a keegan fan. If you were a kid when keegan came in what the fuck are you supposed to do? Its not my fault I was born at the time I was. Would also say that the older fans do tend to accept the shit that goes on with the club more than the younger ones, probably because they remember the really bad times. But they have to accept that football is completely different these days with all th money involved and what once they would have described as acceptable isnt any more. To the guy who said about nufc.com spending all their money so being entitled to their opinion.... is it not the case that the large majority of their spending would be subsidised through the advertising revenue/ sponsorship from nufc.com? and not from their own pockets. I dont know just asking. They do come over as a bit 'soopafanish' tho, and they are always quick to point out how good certain sets of fans are compared to the 'new' ones when in reality we would be up shit creak if it werent for both!
  14. two players which i havent heard mentioned for a while are vloz and rosenior at fulham. Both good players who wouldnt cost that much and would surely want a move to sjp
  15. Leaving this boring convo between the people who have ignored the pleas to stop arguing on every thread and getting back to the point ..... I think everybody is agreed that we no longer can or indeed should carry on spunking money left right and centre on the worlds best players. We havent been able to for a good number of years now but have carried on the pretence that we can by spunking just as much money on players who are from the next tier of world football (ie big names that everybody knows, but are ultimately shoite). So we cant buy the best, we have had our fingers burned buying the big names, there are only two alternatives as far as I can see. We can buy experienced players who wont let anybody down (well no more than the players already at the club) or we can buy up loads of young english talent and hope some of them come good and flog the ones who dont ie spurs. The amount of times we have declared interest in young players then sat and waited for a year or two while they get better and better, more expensive, and wanted by other clubs is amazing. The latest one is giles barnes. The lad is clearly a huge talent, but no we will sit it out and wait until he has all but agreed a deal somewhere else and then try to hijack the deal at the last minute unsuccessfully (prediction for this summer)! If we got back to this policy of buying young which robson attempted to implment we could supplement it with a couple of older heads who have played at the top level but are no longer good enough. There are plenty out there in europe. Players who are no longer good enough for the champions league regulars but could do a damn good job! Players from the summer would include sorin and sol campbell. These types of players will continuously become available so we should expect another batch this summer.
  16. Agreed about moulding players into what they are not. Of course you can teach them things when they are learning but the simple matter is that the majority of footballers arent exactly the brightest lads so overloading them with instructions is just going to confuse them. At the end of the day football is not a difficult game, you win your tackles, you complete your passes, you concentrate, you take your chances! It is only the very very good players who you can make a difference with clever ideas. eg gerrard can play out of position because he has the footballing brain able to do it. Nobby likewise. Half the players in our team arent good enough for their normal positions let alone playing them out of position
  17. I reckon baines is a much better bet than bale. People get sidetracked by the fact bale has a class freekick, when in fact hes not that good a defender.

    Record Smashed

lads I am new here so Im not sure how it works but I was under the impression that this was a newcastle message board. So if your looking for people to lick tottenhams ringpiece ........ arent you on the wrong board?
  20. Agreed about the defence. Its been a long running joke that we cant defend but its past that stage now. I mean for gods sake townsend was about to burst last night when he was slaggin our defence. If that ### is gettin annoyed by it surely the top brass at our club have had enough aswell?
  21. ai they were two dynamic players who drastically changed not only the way we played football but the entire mentality of the club. Of course a left back is a must, but we are crying out for a leader at the back . not only somebody who can defend but someone who can put rockets up a few arses and organise the lads at the back. ideally this guy would be captain material as i have heard that the players , well lets just say 'dont relate' to scotty parker very well. Of course the huge problem is how the hell do you find a player like that, and I for one dont have the answer. Obviously hindsight is a wonderfull thing and campbell would have been perfect for the role, but at the time glenn aswell as myself I must say didnt think he was worth the gamble. I admit weve been proved wrong and its now too late but I think that is the type of player we should be going for. Its all very well going for promising talent but our defence needs a leader. Is woodgate the answer? Could we tempt him back? I doubt it and I am struggling to think of alternatives
  22. I can definately see your side aswell Mick and perhaps krul would be better off for the next season say as 3rd choice so that he can play in the reserves etc rather than just warming the first team bench. The kid just looks so damn good, the foot movement the reflexes, we really need to hold on to him for as long as wecan. And the best part is he is only going to get better and better with experience. So weve concluded that we are ok in the keeper department, more than ok maybe! But how do you see the rest of it going especially the defence? My main fear is that we go out in the summer and theres not much quality available so we just bid for the best of a bad bunch. As I said about gooch, theres no point bringing in somebody whos no better than what youve already got, the squad needs improving not just filling!
  23. Its not even as though Harper is better than Krul. Krul needs experience so when Given is out why not throw him in. Yea it might destory his confidence or it might just bring out the best in him (palermo). all keepers go through a crap spell at some stage it wouldnt matter if it was now, its how they come back from that spell. actor in the fact that harper is on an expensive contract to compensate for his loyalty(or lack of ambition?!) then its easy to see why people would get rid of harper, especially if we could sneak a million or so for him!
  24. RE the ameobi racism. I actually go to every home game and about 15 away games a season, and almost every game shola gets the racist abuse (admittedly nothing sinister but name calling etc is still racist) and often when anybody says sumthing back along the lines of ''hes from walker, hes a geordie'' they get shot down with the ai but hes black response, cue the laughter. Im not saying everybody thinks hes crap because hes black hence why i said i think SOME of his critics are being unfair. I can also tell you that I am by no means the only person who thinks there is a racial element to the criticism as it was pointed out to me by other fans when travelling to away games and I have heard it a lot. You should also read through nufc.com's match reports where it has actually been mentioned on a couple of occasions in the waffle section. To the martins point of course he wont be getting much stick because hes a damn good player. Shola however has quite a lot of critics to start with and I feel that many people who dont really know what they are talking about jump on the bandwagon precisely because he is black. Please dont get me wrong I didnt want to make a big point of it, it was more just an example of why i think he gets unfair stick because i rate him. The point of my post was to assess the state of our squad which i feel is in a terrible state(note the defence) and I wanted peoples opinions on how we could improve the situation. To given take who claims i should take up another sport as i clearly know nothing about football .......... I actually play to quite a high standard and am involved with coaching at junior level, you could in fact say that football is my career in a roundabout way (although im not that good). I would also say that I go to a lot of games and watch pretty much every league in europe so when you say I know nothing about football I find it laughable. Anyways I was just wanting to see peoples opinions on the situation without people becoming hysterical and crying for roeder out sack the board etc. As I say I am involved a lot with football and I can assure you that change is possible although it does take time. Keep the replies coming, Im always up for a bit craic even if I think you are a tool Given Take . So what do you feel emre brings to the team then?
