The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]

Enrique comes across as a determined character who would rather prove his worth than shirk away. Shorey would be a good challenge for him to up his game and iron out some of his more obvious weaknesses. LIKE SIMPLE FUCKING PASSING. -
Agreed, how anyone can slate him on here is amazing. His work rate and skills are unbelievable. Other teams rate him obviously, otherwise they wouldn't be double marking him. Is it because Wise signed him? Could that be the underlying reason some don't like him? It can't be his footballing ability surely. It's not his fault that he beats 3 players and crosses the ball to where the strikers should be but are floating about somewhere else. My guess is that a top 4 side will snap him up sooner or later and he'll be very sorely missed by us. my problem is he need's to start providing goals we can't rely on other's, we should expect around 10 goals a season from him, robert and solano would get around the mark consistently apart from that he is a very good player, pity we ain't got the coaches to teach him how to shot You're living in the clouds if you think that any of our midfielders are capable of 10 goals a season. To be fair to Solano and Robert, a lot of them goals were from dead balls and we don't have a player that can deliver a good one in or hit the target consistently. Jesus, it's a miracle if we score a goal outside the box now-a-days. Jonas has 2 or 3 assists so far. It's a start and I think with some more like minded team mates we'd get the best out of him.

I couldn't, money down the f***ing drain. If you want you could send me the return ticket. I love free flights.
-
Haha get in!

Spurs look terrible. Wigan are passing alright though. Not a nice game to watch, this.
-
Dawson battered
-
Yeah, a spearhead role would potentially suit him. Whether he'll come good in this league we'll have to wait and see.

I'm really unsure about Modric. Like you said, he looks out of place in a 4-4-2 and he's the type of player with the price tag and reputation that you'd expect to build the team around.. but apart from the odd glimpse he hasn't really shown anything other than being neat and tidy with the ball. Maybe he'll take a season or two to pad in, but based on what I've seen so far I wouldn't call him an ideal candidate for a midfield point of attack.

I stopped reading after the first paragraph. I can't be doing with building my hopes up. -
What? Players that don't want to play for the club? As far as I'm concerned once players say they want away should be the last time they pull on the shirt. that including given? Those quotes were from Given's agent/ solicitor weren't they? He hasn't come out to deny them though has he? So if Zog had got his agent to tell the press that he wanted out that'd be ok too would it? It's both or neither really in that kind of situation I'd say.

I wouldn't call Stoke the North West. It's an hour from Derby.

Prepare to be gutted.
-
Pure class. Owen is up for it today.

Says who? Got a text from a mate. He's been bang on about every other thing he's told me about in the past like, so it could have legs. -

Riise was in Newcastle today apparently. -
Messi has much more natural ability that C. Ronaldo but I wouldn't be surprised if the latter when on to greater things.. mostly because Messi is so unlucky with injuries I think it'll really shorten his career, which is a shame. And what's with people making La Liga to sound like a fizzy pop reserve league? Clueless.

Where Owen always gets injured, hmmm
-
Derek Wright isn't shit. He's contracted to the England squad aswell I think.

I would be disgusted to see him in a Newcastle shirt. Would you find it hard to swallow? -

I know I've been supporting Smith further up the page, but he is not a DM. The main job of a player in that position is to keep the ball. The best DMs in the world rarely if ever stupidly lose the ball. The best DM in our squad is definitely Geremi or Guthrie. Smith is probaly still ahead of Butt though, just as a player at this point. Then what the hell is he? He doesn't create goals, hold up the ball well, bring others into play or even have attempts on goal. He shouts a lot, throws in incredibly reckless tackles and collects constant yellow cards. Like I said before he offers absolutely nothing to the team. -

Bullshit. At least Xisco has scored a goal. Smith only got a starting place through his name alone last season and we didn't get out of the relegation fight until he was dropped. We went something like 7 games undefeated without him in the team, went in at half time against Chelsea 0-0 and when he came out to replace Viduka for the second half pretty much everyone around me - myself included - voiced that we'd lose with Smith in the team. We lost 2-0 in the end.. It's more than likely that he didn't directly cause either goal, I can't quite remember, but I remember him offering absolutely nothing to the team. -

I always find the first few days we get the nob heads like Megson & Allardyce whinging about not being able to buy players when they want. Yet by reckoning Megson has only bid for James Morrison (WBA) only to get the knockback, the ginger c*** could found out months before what price WBA were going to sell at. Could have added Roeder to that list a few seasons back for the first few days of the window and the day after the last. Waking up to headlines of 'Roeder Rues Window' doesn't help the morning coffee go down any easier with a picture of him in the technical area, lips tightly pursed. -

To be fair I'm just cynical about how we'll act in this window. The first few days of the window have got me doubting any kind of news link or soundbyte that Kinnear has come out with. We could well be in for him, but I doubt it if I'm honest. -

I was just about to post that. I'm officially excited. No-one burst my bubble please!!! Why are you excited? We're not linked with him in the article - which has no quotes and is by goal.com. So to burst your bubble by the way
