I think that logic went out the window when teams like Sunderland had to spend £50m on a load of dross to stay up and Man City threw £12m+ at a reserve left back. I can't think of many goalkeepers of a certain quality that actually leave their club to be honest. The likes of Casillas & Buffon are very comfortable at their clubs and keepers like James were playing terribly before their transfer so couldn't demand anything near a decent fee.

Think he's come back from a really long injury.

Bet you wish you was playing Spurs

on away goals if it stays i believe.

He also got thrown out of a casino in Hull for causing a fight thinking about it. Bit of a cunt really.

There is nothing in the tin; we're losing money. I think. This is what we'll do in this window too by the looks of things. The real question is: at what point will we be ABLE to spend more than nothing? We spent £5,000 pounds this summer and still improved the first team, why cant we carry on doing the same? Thats all any fan should ask as a minimum. We didn't improve the central midfield and we've failed to address the complete lack of depth in 3 transfer windows so far. We may have a better quality of player in some areas but if we constantly end up having to sell to buy, which seems to be the case, then the entire thing is pointless as we'll never really deal with this massive flaw to the team.

I am sure Bruce & King have had a tiff. King is a complete t*** of a man. Totally true. He's fallen out with pretty much every manager he's worked with in the last 4 seasons or so. Allowed?

You're completely clueless. If selling Given is the only way we will bring in players to improve the team then it absolutely has to be done. Have you seen our defence and midfield? Absolutely pointless having Given back there if things remain as they are in other areas. So you're confident we'll definitely spend it are you? I'm still waiting to see the Milner money spent and since we spent 5k net in the summer surely we should have some more to dish out. This regime is turning into a fucking joke beyond a joke.

That's my major issue aswell. We're playing them next, what a fucking stupid move if it's true.

Just got a text from a mate that lives in Manchester. Apparently there's a buzz about the place that the deal is done and dusted and could be announced tomorrow. I sent a text back asking about a fee etc. and apparently it's a cash deal that's been talked about. Nobody coming this way. Could be something, could be nothing. No reason to doubt the fella, like.

The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]
Fatwax replied to LooneyToonArmy's topic in Football
Is there any point in this thread? We might as well close this and go wild in the other clubs transfers thread because that's where it's going down. Suppose we could leave it open since Mike Ashley seems obsessed with signing players that can go straight into the Newcastle United Creche First XI. -
Yep, last day of last years winter window. Joke of a bid.
-
And Gerrard parachuted in and tried to stop it whilst signing autographs and breast feeding orphans.

This. I hold the claim i have saw Smith score for NUFC , against Juve in a pre-season friendly. His debut, fine headed goal . Luque & Carroll scored, who nearly got two until Buffon took him out big time. It was against a lower league team the Smith goal I'm sure. Yeh sorry it was Sampdoria. Still fine header . Jesus, just read up that match and totally forgot how he should have had 2 goals that day but the first was flagged offside wrongly. He fell from grace after one fucking match. Unbelievable.

In his head, yes very much so, he had SO much talent, people were talking very highly of him when he came to Inter, but he is a "hot-head" if i can explain it so. He over-do situations and get lost. Lets put it like this, im not very sad he is leaving, for once im not gonna be worried that he plays for Inter. But maybe all he needs is some change, new club etc, and not a big club like Inter. Maybe he couldnt do with all the expectations a big club has. Spot on analysis. Always reminded me of Bramble in that way.

Burdisso and Coloccini are best mates. They've even got tattoos saying so apparently.

Curbs has no problem with being a pundit or a manager in the future. I doubt we'll ever see Keegan involved with football again.

He has off-field problems, that could be the risk. -
Very annoying part of his game, that.

Guess the Argie and Italian missed their planes then.

Would actually rather have him in the side than Butt. You're forgetting just how bad he was. You really are. Im not, he just has one advantage over Butt- he can run. Smith is much more reckless in the tackle than Butt and that says something. Butt at least has the odd attempt at goal and hits the target. Butt may be terrible, but Smith is infinitely worse. I was never that keen on Butt being the captain but the fact that Alan Smith once led the team out is a joke.
