Scenes when Oblak saves half the pennos and Portugal lose

Love Miggy, he's been a ray of sunshine in some dark times for us and let's not forget his contribution to getting us into the Champions League and scoring our first goal for us once there. Its easy to deride him on his recent showings but that's not his legacy here for me and its not his fault he's overstayed his usefulness. I wish him the best in what will probably be his last big contract, it is time for him and us to move on but I'll always be fond of his time here. I still think he could be a useful backup here if we can't shift him.

He's a great player but he's not irreplaceable, Bruno and Isak are both very rare commodities, especially Isak who is potentially amongst the elite.
-
I'd be gutted if he did decide to leave, but he's not as untouchable as Bruno or Isak and we would only let him go for c£100m and we could do a lot with that. Saying that, I hope it is hot air and I don't think Liverpool will pay that money for him and we won't let him go on the cheap so iyam this is a non-starter, just hope it doesn't affect his season. He's proven to be a professional with his head screwed on though so I don't think it will.

Anderson - He's played his part, I like him and it's a shame to lose a local lad, but what has he done? He was never going to nail down a starting position and would just slip further away from the bench as we get better. I think this a good deal for us and him while he's still worth something. Vlachodimos - Don't know enough about him but he's been first choice for a good European team and he's likely 3rd choice replacement for Karius so it's not really worth flapping about as I doubt we'll see much of him at all.

In hindsight I think there's an element of fear for Siuthgate here, if he did start with Gordon and Palmer instead of Foden and Saka and it didn't go to plan then you'd have to imagine the red shirt supporters, of which there are many, would be up in arms about not using his best players. I think the safety first mindset reaches further than just the tactics to the popular opinion, there's always been a "big club" bias to selection and this tournament is no different and it will always be to England's detriment. If you can't do it on the world stage then get off the pitch. There is a feeling of damned if he does and damned if he doesn't but at this point he may as well take the risk as he's in danger of having the worst tournament of his tenure.
-
The "big" names seem to be gripped with fear, Foden had a couple of decent mazy runs but no end product, Saka tried to make things happen but ultimately couldn't get through and dropped off, Bellingham was poor, sloppy passing and heavy touches and he needs to stop those cheeky backheels that go straight to the opposition. But what they all had in common was their instinct to pass backwards rather than take a risk, playing hot potato because they didn't want to be the one caught on the ball or give it away. Palmer and Gordon made a huge difference, fast, direct and fearless and it almost paid off, had they been given more time I have no doubt we'd have won that. If Southgate starts with the same 11 but switches in Mainoo for TAA/Gallagher then I sincerely hope we are knocked out.
-
I don't condone it but I fully understand it, imagine spending that much money to follow your team to Germany and having that served up.
-
Subs changed the game, far too late, but you know he won't use the players that changed the game
-
Absolutely honking
-
This is abysmal, all the wrong choices at the wrong times
-
Fecking Trent????
-
Who does Gordon have to blow to get some game time??
-
Genuinely just nodded off for 10 minutes there, this is abysmal
-
Night and day to the way they're cutting us apart on the counter with constant running off the ball.
-
Bellingham again giving the ball away in a great attacking position
-
That cross deserved a goal
-
Why does Bellingham turn into prime Clattermole for England?
-
France have literally scored 1 goal themselves and that was a penalty and they sit 2nd on 5 points
-
France have fallen to pieces here
-
Just run and blast it, all this staggered run ups is ridiculous.

It's got to be willful ignorance at this point, there's no way the whole of the country, pundits included, can see what needs to change and he doesn't, has to be some kind of self sabotage for pride.
