Our poll over the last 3 days showed that 34% of Newcastle supporters who voted in the poll wanted Jose who got 512 votes compared to second place Ottmar Hitzfeld, who got 184 votes and will retire from Beyern Munich at the end of the season. There has been multiple reports that Jose was not allowed to manage in the Premiership until next season, and there was a clause inserted by Chelsea to that effect when Jose left earlier in the season. The Newcastle Evening Chronicle is reporting that Mike Ashley’s best friend pal Paul Kemsley, the former Spurs chairman, has mentioned this to the Newcastle owner, Mike Ashley who is currently out on business in the Pacific Rim. However, the Newcastle Evening Chronicle has been told that Newcastle could get around that specific clause with a payment of around £1M to Chelsea. That’s less than what we will have to pay to Portsmouth for Harry Redknapp. It’s interesting that it’s being pointed out to Mike that Mourinho is the overwhelming choice of supporters. And of course in our poll Harry Redknapp got only 43 votes, and perhaps that’s also being communicated to Ashley. Hey, why wouldn’t we have put a package together for Jose Mourinho of say £7M/ year and whatever else he wants – he’d be worth it. That would be better value than £5M for Harry wouldn’t it. And for those who say Jose would reject it out of hand - maybe he would - but it would be nice to know that for definite. Any caretaker manager would probably do it better. And that matters how? I don't mind a good remainder of the season TBH. The season is over IMO, it's a write-off. We wouldn't have gone down with Allardyce and we're not getting into Europe with Mourinho. 10 points off 6th with 17 games to go. its unlikely but not impossible. Win 3 in a row and we can look up again. It's that simple.
