Newcastle United can today confirm that they travel to Portugal at the end of July to compete in the Guadiana Torneo. The three-team tournament will be held between Thursday, 26th July and Saturday, 28th July at the Algarve Stadium, near Faro. As well as the Magpies, current Portuguese Liga champions FC Porto and Greek giants Olympiacos will also take part in the pre-season competition, which will give Alan Pardew's side some vital match practice ahead of the 2012/13 campaign. Porto have won their national top flight championship for six of the last seven seasons, regularly being a force in the Champions League, while Olympiacos took the Greece Superleague title and reached the last 16 of the Europa League last term.
