I watch other teams and they look to have more spirit about them. More of a spring in their step. It doesn’t help when our players look like they’re playing in lead boots and nervous from the off.
-
it's the howls when the ball goes back sometimes that does my head in? Some just expect the ball to go forward for the whole game. Yeah, there was a lot of that today. It’s not going to help like and some fans make more noise moaning than supporting. At the same time, I really think the players came out looking like scared kittens from the start and they need to find more from within themselves. They didn’t rouse themselves. There’s good support from the Gallowgate like I said. Playing with fear is only going to bring on anxiety from the crowd. They need to shake this fear from their bloody minds because like I said I think that’s nearly as much of a problem as the quality.
-
Really? I thought it was canny. The crowd realised what we are and what we had to do as a result that night, I thought. The booing like from today isn't on though. I can understand boos if players are blatantly not trying, but this bunch of players are. They're just not good enough, that's not their fault. Where do you’s sit? It’s a million times better in the Gallowgate end upper and we need all the help we can get.

There’s a good core of fans in the Gallowgate end who sing no matter what’s going on. Karl Darlow had his name belted out at the start of the game. Many other players did. There were sustained spells of strong support. I despite whinging from the crowd as much as anyone, it’s brainless a lot of the time, especially with some back passes. I have to say though, it came to a point where you had to question the players mentality and frankly effort. They were playing with absolute fear. Zero confidence about themselves, running like they had lead in their boots at times. Weak attempts at crosses. It was as if some were resigned that it was too hard and they didn’t was to rouse themselves. I know a lot are poor players but I really think a major factor is what’s going on in their heads. It really needs to be addressed by Benitez, they have to change the way they are thinking. Like I say I know it can be tough when the crowd are getting restless and no doubt there’s some idiots who go purely to have a whinge which is pathetic, but there’s always support bubbling away in te gallowgate end and today they were playing with the weight of the world on their shoulders from the beginning, when there wasn’t any crowd dissent. They should be puffing their chests out walking onto the pitch as a matter of personal pride and ambition. If they find it hard to play in front of a big crowd, what hope and ambition do hey have to progress as a footballer? Would they turn down a move to a top club because it’d too much?

He was moping around sulking last season with his head down showing little enthusiasm. It was a depressing situation to be in last season so I hoped he simply got sucked into that as a young lad, which is still poor. Yet last night - fresh start, positivity from everyone - he was caught on his heels, looked as slow as anything and was only animated when he was complaining to the ref about not getting a foul. I know it's only one game and the odds are he will improve but I do think he needs to give his head a shake and re-asses his attitude. When he first came he was fearless and enthusiastic, buzzing around everywhere and encouraging his teammates playing with a smile on his face. That hasn't been seen for a while now and we can't wait any longer as there's simply no time to waste.

The players couldn't handle the pressure of a relegation battle last season and last night played like they couldn't handle the pressure of being favourites to win the league... Seriously they need to find some balls from somewhere or piss off, it's a game of football not a life or death situation, just play with freedom without thinking man! Do you want to play at the highest level or not because going off that performance if Man Utd or Arsenal suddenly came in for any of our players they'd turn around and say 'thanks for the offer but no I don't fancy playing on a stage as big as that, what with the pressure and all... '.

His 'attempts' to stop crosses are an insult and his own crosses when he gets forward are just token gesture hopeful ones. Nearly everything he does just screams token gesture. Surprised Rafa hasn't been more ruthless, he'll get caught out time and time again and it'll cost us, please tout him around and let him be someone else's problem ASAP IMO. -
Diame would be a better option for no10 at the mo, Perez's form just carried on from last season tonight, his anticipation was terrible, was always caught on his heels, looked a different player to the one we signed 2 years ago. Hopefully he finds that spark again over the course of the season.

He's a genuine leader with presence and commands respect. While he has no proper managerial experience these are qualities which are part of being a good manager. Yes he would have to prove other things, but he'd have these traits to build on and I'd also like to think he wouldn't accept being treat like a mug by those above.
-
Think you need to take some deep breaths as per instructions from Souness myself like and give him 5 years no matter what happens.
-
If a few weeks ago they wanted to hire McClaren I don't see why that wouldn't still be the case, especially that now he's available for free. Under the condition that top man JC stays as assistant of course.

Do you trust your source? Sadly, yes. Meeting at 10am at training ground apparently. Where did he get this info from? Did he say? Can you give anymore information on this mate? I don't know where he gets the info from, but he always posts the team sheet the day before the game and is always right. Like I say, I hope to god he is wrong or on a wind-up. Cheers.

The most they may do IMO is assure him he will be kept on as assistant and inform him they will be looking to appoint a new head coach but if they can't bring someone in that in they deem suitable for the position then he has the job.

all signed and completed. Trust me. Any knowledge on a successor?

Mention pardew shamelessly touting sissoko around (who is massively a overrated IMO) just like he has done with many other players in the past such as cabaye.
-
As hard as it could be, don't go to the games otherwise you are approving of how the club is ran.
-
Boycotting the games isn't just about not giving him your money, its about damaging the PL brand and his SD brand. Skysports & BT would not want to be showing games at SJP with an empty stadium because they would want to protect the brand they pay a lot of money for.

Laughing at people striving for change is okay then I presume? Laughing at nobody. The organisation around the protest was fantastic and I had me flyer, just tired of reading constant griefing of the '50,000 idiots'. Very much this. To call someone and idiot because they happen to have a different viewpoint is extremely arrogant. Like I said earlier, genuine football fans are loyal to their club by default, to ask them to stop going, shout against their team and actually want the opposition to win goes against the grain....and besides, nobody likes being told what to do. I think it's going to take another home thrashing for it to turn nasty again, but I'm sure the next one isn't far away. This club, at this period of time, is literally the only time in the entire history of English football that this has happened. Any other club, at any other point in time, and Pardew is out of a job. There are teams that have been relegated and have kept their manager so I don't see that. Also how many clubs have sacked their manager 5 games after finishing 10th in the top flight? Not that I'm supporting the hopeless b******, just playing devil's advocate. Spurs just sacked their manager for coming 6th. The previous one was sacked in 7th. The one before him was sacked after coming 4th. Spurs have an ambitious but trigger happy owner and Liverpool are a successful club. 10th place for Newcastle is probably above our historical average, and anyway we all know that Pardew isn't employed for footballing reasons. I don't have a problem with 10th place finishes as such, but when you are actively wanting to avoid Europe and any cup runs then it starts to stick in the craw. Then serving up s*** football on top of that is the straw breaking the camel's back. Exactly, so the focus needs to be on his footballing integrity. That goes above any s*** footballing records or tactics. He is complicit in stripping away ambition in order to basically milk money from the club, obviously same with Ashley with Sports Direct.
-
Think most people are fairly certain he's not. The split comes between those who want to force change, and the the large percentage in the ground that will always show support knowing full well that if the results despite their support are s****, the manager will inevitably go anyway. There's considerably more people flirting with the former camp purely on the basis that Pardew should already be on his bike by now. That doesn't make the other group idiots or mean they're actually happy with the situation. Ask most fans about Pardew and his ambitions and they would say "I'm sure he wants to get as high up the league as possible but he's probably not good enough." Where-as to me it looks like he is here to dampen any ambition, and is happy to do that. I have never seen him attacked in this point of view whether its journalists or fans being interviewed. If he gets bonus money for 10th then why would he be pushing on? Why would he want a distraction in the cups? Are there any bonus' for cups? All you hear with Cabaye is 'sold behind his back' 'wasn't replaced' as if its something he 'put up with'... to me it seems obvious the man was not bothered! I haven't seen that mentioned at all. We had all but secured top 10 by January when Cabaye went, so why would Pardew be bothered? He'd reached his objective by then and said himself "its difficult when you have 46 points"... I can forgive someone who is s*** but is trying, but Pardew is different. But the only viewpoint that comes out from the media is that he is s***, not that he himself has zero ambition, which is a disgrace to this club. Obviously Ashley plays a large part in that. Its a perfect system Ashley has set up for himself and Pardew is more than happy to go along with it, stripping the club of ambition. Why hasn't he been attacked for this? The football stats are bloody bad no doubt, but people talk about Pardew in the same context as any other manager, when he needs to be talked about it a very different context. That's the viewpoint we need the media to get out to the hooked match-going fans and if that was to happen then bit by bit those fans may eventually start thinking twice about going.

Is that not why, actually, Ashley should be targeted on Saturday too?
