Experience and a fighting spirit should be the ingrediants of a captain. Sadly Taylor lacks the experience. Can you see older heads listening to Taylor on the pitch? - Butt's won stuff with Man Utd, he's played in the biggest competitions, just seems to me to be the right man out of what we currently have. Guess only time will tell if it's worth selling him or not. I got a lot of respect for Parker as he gives 110% every time, but he has been pretty poor for us going forward. Perhaps with a proper manager at the helm (I dont rate Souness or Roeder as proper managers compared to Sam Allerdyce!) he would be coached in to playing much better than what he has done for us so far. Nicky Butt can have the DM role instead if Parker goes, so its not like were stuck without him (unless Butt get's injured). £8.5 million is good money, even using part of that to land Barton is great thinking, but Barton is a massive twat and he will cause problems at any club he ends up at.

Load of rubbish. How can you say that Shearer will be a shite manager? There is no evidence to suggest Shearer will be the worst manager ever or the best manager ever. What we do know is that one day he will be in management and we can judge him on what he achieves or doesn't achieve in that role.

I'd take Luke Young at £2million. We need players who are better than our current crop and we don't need un-proven gambles right now. Luke Young is better than our current right backs and is not costing a silly amount. Sign him.

I can't see it being a bad thing really. If your going to spend millions on a club the size of Newcastle surely your planning to spend more to make sure your new investment is protected and moving forward as a business. The guy is worth £1.9 billion, so he has plenty of resource and it's clear we need investment to move forward. Newcastle with Allerdyce at the helm was the best time to buy, as surely it's better package than buying with Roeder in charge. I hope around £40 million is spent wisely this summer and we have a squad that reaches a european spot next season, maybe even a cup final too.

I think I prefer having Sam Allerdyce in charge over Houllier. Houllier has done well with Lyon, but not sure if he would emulate that back in England.

I hope we do get Gudjohnsen. He has great link up play up front and picks up a decent amount of goals a season. Chelsea should have kept him really.
