  1. Ashley will spend. Why would he buy Newcastle if he had no intention of spending, it's obvious we'd struggle big time without spending. After spending £1.75 million and getting a return of 4 players so far, think its time we splashed up to £20million at least over the next 3 weeks to get the more players in the positions we are week.
  2. We should let Dyer go. Talented player or not, the last few years he's never really contributed as much he should do in a season or ever hit the massive potential he showed as a youngster. Injuries have not helped, but think its for the best he goes, of course only if we can get a replacement for him.
  3. To be honest, think Nobby playing in midfield again is a good shout. He has definielty lost a lot of pace, but his football brain and talent is still superb, think he could fill a gap til Joey get's back. Nobby ain't a right back and I think we need his creative passing to have more influence in games and that will only happen if he's played further up the pitch.
  4. Sam and Mort have both now said that 3 or 4 signings will be made before new season kick off. Can't wait to see who we get tbh.
  5. Where's the Beef? What a silly thread. We've made some good signings and they have cost us next to nothing so far. There's still loads of time left in the transfer window for more signings to happen, let's judge Ashley & Allerdyce once the transfer window is over.
  6. I'm guessing News Of The World are trying to brighten up my day with comedy. Ronaldinhno? hahaha... Crouch for £20 million? hahaha... - this is pure comedy.
  7. Did Bellamy even play that much for Liverpool in Europe? - He warmed the bench in the final. My memory maybe shite here, did he even do much in Europe for pool? If Bellamy barely played for Liverpool in Europe then he's got as much shout as the LFC janitor for having a CL runners up medal.
  8. Agree. This club has had a history of making signings pretty late in the transfer window, seems Sam has done a lot very early, and we've hardly spent any of our kitty (whatever that amount is I'm sure its much bigger than £1.75 million!).
  9. He's far better there than at right back. Considering he's on a free, we still have shed loads of transfer cash to spend on a proper right back yet.
  10. This rule change is shite. Surely it's in the players and clubs interest to making loan signings more flexible time wise so that youngsters can get out there and get some first team experience?
  11. Aye. I work with a couple of Boro fans and they all said he's wasted at right back, much better on right side or centre of midfield. We've all assumed he's our new right back, maybe he ain't, just cover for our real target.
  12. Yeah it is! Still many years left for Geremi to perform in the EPL and we've got him in our squad. Great free transfer. 4 players signed, 3 of proven EPL quality, 1 unknown, yet we have only spent £1.75 million given the Parker transfer. Allerdyce certainly has done well with transfers.
  13. Bellamy for £10 million and he's on £75k a week? hahahahahahahahaha... We don't need him and never for that kind of money anyway.
  14. Ha, always remember when Keane swung for Shearer and missed. Who would have won in a fight between Shearer and Keane?
  15. If we have £50 million to spend and we do it and get good value for money then it's the right thing to do as we need investment to bring an improvement. I don't think anybody has said that we should just spend it because we might have it. It doesn't matter how much we have, we do need to get value for money. ok cool, but do you not think that we can ge 6th without having to spend £50million? I don't think we need to spend that much, I'd rather we saved that cash until we got 6th, then spent that and some to get even better players than we could before to make that extra push. Pressure is on to deliver if £50million is spent and if we fail again to reach Europe, it's another huge wad of cash pissed away.
  16. I'm even more shocked that your shocked at me being shocked at your original post. My expression must be like this... lol http://www.weeville.com/Home%20Alone%20With%20MJ.jpg
  17. We have been rich for a while now & we have got fleeced a stacks of times because we are big spenders. Do you think it'll be different if we went, "Shhh man, we're skint. Only got £5m to spend". I think the takeover has given it away that we'll be spending money like. your missing the point. This club shouldn't spend £50 million on players at this time, it would probs do more damage as its no garauntee to make any difference on us getting 6th. Without European football to offer your most likely not being able to attract the right type of expensive player for Newcastle. You will get over-priced one season wonders from smaller clubs who may or may not do it again. Truth is we don't need to spend £50 million, so why harp on about having it. If we spent £50 million for the sake and thrill to spend "£50million" then we are complete dickheads and not spending money cause we need to, but because we think we have to, despite the clubs circumstances and managers requirements. We've already bought and sold and received compensation so that we've made money and brought good players in. If Allerdyce pulls a few more cheap ones out for better quality players you suddenly have nothing to spend £50 million on, other than over price shite that will just increase wage bill and force a rotation system of expensive players. Forget the amount, focus on what is right for Newcastle and wait to see who we buy. If we don't spend £50 million, people will moan as they have now read it in a paper and think it will happen. All I care about is finishing 6th as cheaply as possible. We have good players, but we don't need another £50 million pounds worth if its the type of player who signs for clubs who outside of Europe.
  18. don't think anyone says he's a bad player, as a striker he's doing his job, scoring goals. But thing is there are players who doing much more than walloping them in. Even Shearer had a good cross, eye for a pass, hold the ball, keep it simple, defend. Henry, free kicks, creative flair, skills etc... Martin's has pace and shooting, but that's it. If he is having a bad game then you may as well take him off as won't offer good passing, tackling, defending, marking, free kicks or creative flair. Another player may offer us more to the team over a season as Oba does these thing far less frequently. Like his goals though... and he is young. I say keep him as he is already a player of ours and with good guidance and coaching, he may develop to an amazing standard.
  19. We have been rich for a while now & we have got fleeced a stacks of times because we are big spenders. Well it will only get worse if we are shouting were are even richer now. Time to stop the habbit, and use our brains when purchasing.
  20. Why?? He can't pass, control a ball or shoot with finesse. He has pace but doesn't use it wisely, never makes top quality strikers runs in the box and his only real asset is smacking the ball as hard as he can and hoping. Wrong, wrong and wrong. That's cos he's an inexperienced youngster who isn't the centre-forward he was forced to play as last season. And you've based all that on one season, under the worst coaching staff in the history of top tier football/sport/life in general. Can't believe i'm gonna go into this again but i am. Give the lad credit. He's 22. He's never played in the Premiership before. Serie A and the Premiership are two very different leagues. He was playing in a s**** team. He was playing under a s**** manager. He never had a consistent/good striker partner. Plus, more and more and more which i can't be bothered to retrieve from one of the Martins/good/bad debates thread, which have been discussed time and again. Some good counter points, but thing is when Newcastle are playing really bad, he is even worse. He isn't the man to look to for bringing the team together, he's just got some bloody amazing shot, but that's only effective if he's in the right place at the right time. It's very rare to see him linking up for the good of the team, and I know he's been poorly led, but he looks so far behind at times you wonder how many season he will need to pick it up. He is young, but his form and play dips so much when the team are not doing well. If we can get another player who will score a couple goals less, but they may be an asset for creating or defending than I'd take it as were gaining more from the player for the team than just goals. Due the amount of goals he scores though, I'm happier for Oba to stay. Guess club know the clause is why he is going, we'd keep him else.
  21. Also, the more we bang on "hey were rich! hey were gonna spend £50million" the more clubs will think to fleece us the second they hear were interested. It happened to Chelsea, and if we officially announce were going to spend £50 million, even if we don't need to, were just spending it cause it looks good, then were just asking for clubs to sell us shite for a few million more. Keep quiet, sign the players who can do a job and spend big when there is less risk and better chance of value for money at higher prices. Darren Bent at £17million anyone? fucking bollocks. West Ham agreed to pay it, MUGS!
  22. Top 7 looks right. Rest, well anything can happen. Even Reading may have a shite one, we've seen newcomers come in strong and then fade out quickly.
  23. Viduka has filled the goals that Oba will not score for us if he moves on. It's all about cover for Owen, which is likely to be needed as the chap will get injured. £13million + £10million comp means that we will have good cash to get another striker. Thing about Oba, he can score belters, but sometimes he looks awful and loses the ball. Seems that if the team do bad, Oba looks even worse. Would prefer a player who would offer more complete roles in football, such as better defending or creative passing up front. Oba is just a fast headless chicken with a wonderful strike at goal. Good for goals, but not for the team.
  24. £50 million is just a number!!! why do people feel the need to wank every day over this. JUST WAIT TO END OF TRANSFER DEADLINE! WHO CARES WHAT FIGURE THE PRESS SAY. It just leads to moaning that they were "lied" to if we don't spend that amount, when the club never actually stated £50 million in the first place. It's all about how you spend your money, not how much.
  25. I'm shocked why you can't see why players don't feel going to a club that is in Europe is better than going to one that has a big ground. We've been a shower of shite compared to how we were under Robson, who would you rather player for... a team that's at the level where they regularly play in Europe or one that's got 52,000 fans kicking their arse with screams and boo's because they playing shite and not they ain't reaching European football at the moment. Having a big ground means fuck all, after all a flash 150,000 seater stadium in Division 2 hardly would dictate that players would come running from clubs around the world if we tried for them. Being in a winning side that isn't making headlines for the wrong reasons is. Having 52,000 stadium and regular in Europe is different all together however... and with Sam we can make that a combo that DOES attract the big players. Just need to get there again first.
