Really like the Man U kit. Looks smart. Looks even better when they’re playing. Like Sporting Lisbon.

Went with my brother on Sunday and we spent $39 on two hot dogs and two large sodas.

Think a good way for the MLS to accelerate growth would have been to put it on regular TV. It’s even harder to access now that it’s on Apple TV. Was watching an AFTV program yesterday with some British ex pats and they were saying how the PL is such a “smash hit”. It just made think about how small the MLS really is. Any good player produced by the MLS will be snapped by Europe ie Alphonso Davies, Dempsey, even Miggy. Hold outs like Landon Donovan will be seen as players who never fulfilled their potential. The MLS is that thing you feel like you should be watching but never get around to. I have a bunch of friends I went to high school with who weren’t into soccer 15 years ago but now they’re Liverpool fans or Chelsea fans. It’s like basketball in England. No one supports the Dairylea Dunkers. They support NBA teams.

Think Toney would be their best bet no pun intended.

Is the Saudi league even on TV? I’ve never come across it.

Trippier does not like playing with Murphy.

No, Inter Miami thinking Puerto Ricans, Cubans and Domicans play football. They don’t. They play baseball and their baseball team doesn’t speak Spanish so why does their football team? Doesn’t sit right.
-
If 72% of the population is Spanish shouldn’t that cover all the sports in the region? Especially baseball. Sounds like a PR spin to me.
-
But English is the primary language in the United States. On principal alone I think that’s a legitimate reason. But as you persist. Miami Heat use English speaking stadium announcers. Whatever Miami’s NFL team use English speaking stadium announcers. Same goes for their baseball team, The Miami Marlins. Miami’s Spanish speaking contingent come from Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Dominican Republic. Countries/whatever Puerto Rico is where baseball is the primary sport. So why does the baseball team use English directions and the football team doesn’t? Feels icky and shoehorned and I am not for it.

It’s the commentary, music and Spanish stadium announcing(if it’s a welcome for Messi, fine, if not, prefer not to speak) for me…
-
Absolutely. Agree 100%.

That can’t be true. When you call a hotline, they don’t say “we is experiencing performance outage in your area” they’d say “we are experiencing performance outage in your area”. Or “The New York Mets are exploring coaching options at this current moment”. I’ve never seen this “is” you speak of.

Some embarrassing misses from Spurs, mind.

Personally think the Burnley one is the best of the lot. Thought Burnley had a new badge going into the new season.

I’ve been supporting Newcastle since 1993 and at first I thought we were in London because there’s a train station called ‘St James’ Park’. I didn’t actually know we were rivals with Sunderland until 2005 when Emre scored that free kick and subsequently in 2007 when the local derby feature was added to FIFA.

I used to love fanzone. There was this one Chelsea fan who would call Saloman Kalou - “Hasn’t got a Calue”. Some excellent lines on that show.

The thing is, when you’re in the studio dynamic and you have an attractive host like Kelly Cates asking questions, she may subconsciously ask Jamie Redknapp a question before she asks Micah Richards. He may have said something before Redknapp before they went on live on aire and she may have asked Redknapp about it before Richards leaving him to waffle like he usually does. He said Carragher always steals his opinions too. Like he’ll say something while they’re watching the game and then Carragher will repeat it when they go live.

What I hated most about Arlo was his inferiority complex. He’d say things like “I could never do that, I’m not a professional football player but do you who is? Lee Dixon and he’s standing right by me”. Like have some respect for yourself and your profession. You’d never hear Jon Champion say something like that. You’d never hear Martin Tyler say that. Awful, awful commentator.
-
And I think there’s some weird dynamic between him, Mustoe and Rebecca Lowe. If you watch carefully, he always ends his sentences with ‘Rebecca’ as if he’s educating her. And if you don’t believe looks play a part in football punditry, Micah Richards himself said he doesn’t like going on shows with Jamie Redknapp as “he’s too good looking” and takes the shine away from him. Not the best example I know as Richards is a really poor pundit but he said it.
-
I won’t ever come to grips with that. And like I said before, it’s the Americans championing Peter Drury and there you went and championed him. But look at the rest of the thread, everyone else hates him. I wouldn’t want Brits commentating on NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL. I want to see the sport in its rawest and purest form. it’s football, it’s simple. It doesn’t need to be dumbed down. Look at Thierry Henry’s reaction to Ray Hudson. He hated the over dramatics and histrionics as do I. And real ones will remember Robbie Earle as a commentator(even though it seems they didn’t like him as a commentator for some reason). I thought he was great. He has a face for radio and is a poor pundit IMO as he stutters over words because I think he’s too worried about the camera constantly on him on a subconscious level.

This is my problem. Football was shown on Fox Soccer Channel(formerly Fox Sports World) far longer than NBC took over the rights in 2013(I got cable in 2003 and they were using direct Sky feeds). Arlo dumbed down a product that didn't need to be dumbed down. And now that idiot is doing commentary on Ted Lasso and that show makes football look like a joke.
