  1. Dunno how true it is but someone was saying Emery teams don’t do as well in the league as they do in Europe.
  2. He does love a spit. Think it just comes with being on a football pitch.

    Fabian Schär

He ok? Didn't see him in the weekend games and went off in the 34th min vs Chelsea. Fit to start Saturday?
  4. Would absolutely love if he got double digits in the league this season.
  5. From a positional sense, I can see that. Victor Moses suddenly became a pretty good right back for Chelsea pretty late into his career. Fantastic stuff from Eddie to identify Joe's quality as soon as he became boss.
  6. Chuba Akpom has had a roller coaster of a career 28 goals in the Champo last season. Emi Martinez from Arsenal 2nd keeper to World Cup, Copa America, FA Cup winner in two years. Looks on track to be Villa's all time clean sheet holder. Gnabry's success is something I never imagined.
  7. Best career rebuilds? Sigurdsson is an example of a player who didn't make the impact expected of him when he went up a level. Looked a surplus at Spurs but then went back to Swansea and became a good player again. Can't really think of other players who did the same. Maybe Lukaku at Man U? Was underwhelming in that system but thrived in Inter's. Memphis Depay. Thauvin maybe? Forlan was an unexpected career turnaround.
  8. Maguire, McTom, Bowen and JWP has the likings to make a strong British backbone. I'm curious to see how it'd worked out.
  9. My bad. He was in the Sky Sports WC Team of the Tournament 2022. There was no official team. Was in the official Euro 21 one, though.
  10. Maguire’s had a good international career. World Cup and Euro Team of the Tournament
  11. And Neymar being Brazil’s top scorer doesn’t impress me. It’s not like Messi or Ronaldo. Winning World Cups and Euros, scoring hattricks against Spain and Brazil. He won the Olympics which I don’t count as a true international tournament. Look at the squads that competed in it. It’s what three? Major players and the rest have to be under 23? His international career in on par with Stern John for me.
  12. Ronaldinho was okay at Milan. But what really clouds my judgement is leaving the best team in the world to join an inferior team and league at the age of 24/25. Aside from the 2013 ConFed Cup, Neymar was either injured or underperformed at major tournaments. Injured for the 2019 Copa America. There were so many Copa Americas going on from 2014-2016 and he never won any, he probably wasn’t present. That’s the type of player he is/was - moody. Shows up when he wants, if the occasion suits him. Probably the biggest let down of a player I’ve ever seen.
  13. Neymar’s been irrelevant for six years now. The moment he went to PSG, his career was over. His idol Ronaldinho went from PSG to Barcelona. This idiot went to PSG from Barcelona. Absolute waste of a career.
  14. I like Maguire and it annoys me how much stick he gets because he’s not a bad player. There was a time Man utd fans were praying he’d be fit for the Europa League final. I think the problem was when Varane came in. Maguire was the leader before that but Varane is obviously the better player. Had Maguire taken a back seat and let Varane do the coordinating, he could have survived but bossing around a four time Champions League World Cup winning defender was not the way to go.
  15. Hating the new reffing initiative. Players are going to be sent off left, right and center. Looked like it was zero tolerance for protestation, so one technical foul or late challenge will see players being sent off. Refs will have a massive influence on games going forward. And what happens if half the team protest the red? Yellows and reds presented all around for the protest. Football’s far too emotional a game for this to work.
  16. Feel like this whole ref initiative came about because Jose Mourinho was waiting in the parking lot for Anthony Taylor. Cheers, Jose, you fucking prick.
  17. Wow, what a signing. Go on Brighton.
  18. I think Grealish is a better player than Almiron but in Man City’s set up, Grealish is more of a passenger where as in our set up, Almiron is a genuine goal threat I know Pep plays him and all that but I don’t see Grealish effecting games like he did at Villa. Maybe two or three or maybe even four phases occurred that led to the ball being where it landed and KDB played a pass to Haaland but I’ve seen plenty of City goals where Grealish had no involvement whatsoever. It’ll be like Ederson to Akanji to Rodri to KDB to Haaland.
  19. Well I would say Almiron in our set up is more effective than Grealish in Man City’s.
  20. The point was more he’s scored in two friendlies in a row and in these pre season games, he’s looking like he’s continuing his form from last season. I don’t think he has to be a “top six winger”. Would you say Antonio Valencia was a top six winger? I think he just needs to be exactly who he is and chip in with goals like he’s doing. The “top six players” in our side are Isak and Wilson and they’re the one the side seems to be centered around. Their goals will win us games and points. I think Miggy is a solid Premier League player now and should 100% start every game that he’s available. My thing is, Miggy has been here now for four years and has climatized to the league. He’s 29 and as much as 21 year olds will be going for 50-60 million, you can’t buy experience. Those players will have teething issues and I guarantee Miggy will be running past them with ease because with his experience and know how, he’s a legitimate threat to teams now.
  21. Wasn’t going to tag you every time he did something good. Was just for this one as it’s recent after your comments. Just vindicating my point that last season wasn’t a purple patch and Miggy has become a bonafide Premier League player.
  22. And Miggy scores again @The College Dropout
  23. Aye, all the games are on at 10am for us. No football after that Might tune in to that GameforUkraine thing.
