He's definitely a toon fan. One of the lads who I used to work with used to go to school with him and hang round with him as mates ffs. There's definitely an element of playing on it/good marketing/good timing - but to claim he's not a toon fan is mental. Tbf Rats are still part of the ecosystem, and whether we like them or not, provide food to microorganisms, invertebrates, help with some elements of pest control despite being pests themselves, and other things such as pollination/seeding etc in the circle of the wider ecosystem. They do however need to be managed in terms of numbers.

In her defence, pointing out the impact to wildlife is a good thing. The challenges the world faces and the impact it has on the ecosystem is huge, despite this only being a small part of it, any change to such things effects everyone, and everyone should be more aware of such things. Its equally fine for people to challenge these thoughts, when plans have not been announced. If the club plan for the Leazes move and offset the impact by creating an equal or better greenspace, then the impact is lessened. To pre-emptively challenge based on hearsay does no one any favours. Its fine to raise awareness, but the usage of Saudi Super Stadium shows level of pettiness and damages the challenge overall.

I'm a massive advocate for green spaces being retained/created in city centres. But the simple fact is that to get this passed, it would be an exchange as we've already talked at length about. The greenspace and subsequent maintenance would be down to the club to present to the council to get the agreement to build. The new park would take some time to establish - trees/hedgerows, but lets not kid the financial element of having a bigger stadium and more revenue into the city, let alone the revamped, nicer greenspace than Leazes currently is. Entirely daft protesting to the council about something which hasn't been announced, and public surveys, which require no real vetting or quantification, are a moot point. They also require a significant amount of signatures for anyone to even think about caring, not some mackems and a few people pissing their pants.
