I'd use the word 'pathetic' tbh, and we still finished only six points off the top half. Barring the top four and a couple of steady improvers I don't think we're being left behind at all. I'm expecting more this year, not less. And on the basis of the above, that means top half at least. With Keegan being a fan of flowing football I can't see what's not to look forward to, really. Add the couple of signings we're all hoping for and I'm even more optimistic. Maybe with a couple of signings, but where are they coming from? Yes the window IS only open 9 days, but with KK saying he'll bring in 3 or 4, with Jonas already in, we realistically need 2 Def (1 CB, 1 FB) 2 Mid (Holding and creative player) and prob 1 Striker. Our squad is so thin at the minute we really need to be bringing in maybe 6 players, maybe not automatic starters but ones like Larrson who will push for a starting place. I am a tad pessimistic about this season, prob as i'm very impatient! But i have every faith in KK and his ability to spring a surprise or two! Its just when teams like spurs and pompey have already signed 3-4 players and got in before anyone had a chance to, makes me wonder what we are doing at times. We shall wait and see....

He may look like a prick, but i have a f time for Simon Jordan. He speaks his mind and calls a spade a spade. He makes a number of good points in that article. I just hope the same doesn't happen when our youth academy is "World Class"

You only presumed your list of players were there though. If someone's made a mistake about this, I think it's you tbh. I named 13 senior players who aren't listed by the Chronicle or nufc.com as injured or on an extended break. Clearly either the Chronicle are wrong, or an additional two players are absent for an unexplained reason. Edgar is injured, recovering from hernia op as far as i can remember! Edit: As mentioned above!

Maybe go for both as Barton is a liability, Butt is getting old, Emre gone, Milner poss going. We need midfielders more than anything, especially creative ones which boths these guys are. would love either of them to come here, but if we only get one, I'm not sure which one i'd prefer! Is De La Red 25 or something as well or younger?

Aye i thinks so More of an attacking Midfielder when i've seen him! Scored a few good goals for Getafe in Uefa Cup last year!

aren't they one and the same ? Diego Swarfega jr. is a real prospect. We need to wash our hands of this one. Quality

Linked today in the telegraph along with Gudjohnsen Anyone know anything about him? (Apart from being a French £6m rated midfielder!) Newcastle, meanwhile, are supposedly leading the chase for France U21 international Didier Digard from Paris St Germain. The Mail informs us that the midfielder is rated at £6m and that Portsmouth are also interested. Should Digard move to St James' he could be joined there by Barcelona forward Eidur Gudjohnsen, who has been told he can leave the Nou Camp. Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan apparently wants Gudjohnsen to replace Obafemi Martins, who we are told is surplus to requirements, and would cost around £4m. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtml?xml=/sport/football/paperview/nosplit/ufpapers101.xml
