I like him but for 60m () you could theoretically buy 2 better players instead.

It’s fair enough to think we’re leaving it a bit late to make a blockbuster signing or two. We’re either being very discrete or nothing’s imminent currently.

Has there ever been any confirmed cases of a team going for a player or whatever as a “smokescreen” for another? It keep getting said but does it actually ever happen?

I’d certainly want better (and someone with more technical ability ideally) but McTominay isn’t “gash”.

McTominay makes sense for a cut price deal in Jan to give us decentish squad cover while we wait for better options to come available in the next window. Making him a top summer target doesn’t exactly scream ambition though.

Agreed. We really need to capitalize while we can as this opportunity may not come along for another few years. Would be such a waste not to go big in these next few days.

For a two-legged affair, I think it’s safer to just put on the first xi that doesn’t concede much. So long as we keep a clean sheet, it should set us up nicely to see it through for the home tie.

Yeah, he’s definitely got all the tools to go very far (with the right coaching). I like him and think he’d be a decent fit for our system but anything over 30m for him would be a bit silly considering where he’s at in his development.

I like him; young, great engine, pace and shows a lot of passion. I’m sure within our set up set he could really thrive. In saying that, paying 50m for someone still so raw would be ridiculous.

He played very well tbf. Worried his body isn’t built for the amount of sprints our system would ask of him (backwards and forwards). Always looks like his hamstrings’ll tear off after every time he goes full pelt.
