  1. Six clubs earned more money from overseas TV than domestic. Remarkable how far that has come and, while growth will slow over the next decade of two, it's almost certainly going to grow faster than the domestic money. Very close to a tipping point there. Also notable in there is £2.2m is often the figure used per league place, but when you add domestic and overseas it's actually a little over £3m now. There is big money in the merit payments. We earned almost £25m more than Chelsea last season. Or, said another way, if we end up 10th or 11th this season due to injuries it would effectively wipe out the gains from Sela compared to last season.
  2. Our game, Brighton, and West Ham all went against how you'd expect. Great week.
  3. I hope we are ready in June to pick up all the pieces. And by that I mean MGW.
  4. Everton fans losing it in the replies. The entire case comes down to whether this is true or not: "Everton, who are owned by Farhad Moshiri, insist they did not breach the conditions of the 2021 agreement" I have a feeling there will be little sympathy for Everton once all the facts come out.
  5. Thank god. I can't believe there are serious suggestions of him getting a single minute.
  6. Spent 10 years at Bournemouth, so he'll be well acquainted with Callum's hamstrings.
  7. I think it depends on how it's implemented and punished. UEFA's version of cost-control is like a soft cap with a luxury tax. The penalty for going over it is increasing levels of fines (though it does seem like there is a possibility of harsher punishment if it's regularly ignored). The problem is UEFA also has their own version of the three-year losses rules. In theory if that's all the PL had + those other new rules then a club with a new, rich owner could play catch-up in a more equitable way. But if cost-control rules are punished with point deductions then yes, it's hugely weighted towards favoring the already established.
  8. Yeah, if we didn't have all these injuries then it would be an enjoyable window seeing everyone stand still.
  9. Agreed. I'm on board with the fact that it's silly the £105m in losses hasn't changed in years, but at the same time the real problem is that the inflation of transfer fees is outpacing most clubs revenue growth. It's not sustainable and TV deals aren't going to keep increasing at the rate they have in the last 20 years. The changes that will apparently be discussed in two weeks seem pretty logical to me (which probably means they won't happen):
  10. Fab desperate for content. Shows how dull this window is.
  11. We're a couple poorly timed yellow cards and a Wilson setback from seeing something like: Ritchie --- Barnes --- Tino Miley ---- Longstaff ---- Miggy
  12. He should definitely be in the squad. Offers a lot more than a handful of regulars.
  13. I thought before the season he’d play a lot on the right, which is why we were comfortable not bringing in an RW. And I think you’re right with the ability to move around the front three. We’ve just been robbed of seeing it.
  14. Also one over the top to Isak when the ball was going out of play. Surprised everyone.
  15. With even just half of the injury crisis we've had I think we'd definitely be 6th (possibly 5th). More importantly, I think we would have played in a LC semifinal and we'd still be in Europe. The most frustrating thing in all of this for me are the what-ifs. Can't imagine how Eddie and team feel.
  16. Brummie thought Bailey would/should start and hard to argue with that after his performance. Not surprised people are frustrated with Diaby. But yeah, this place is no different after a defeat.
  17. Fair. I'll be honest - I have no idea what the state of their squad is. They've had a great week and I could see a bit of a letdown here. On the other hand, they've been in pretty solid form since early December.
  18. The last two games will have done wonders for our confidence (well, really the last four should) and it will be great to be home again. I think we’ll beat them comfortably. The only nagging doubt in my mind is it will be the third game in a week for the same group of players.
  19. Needing to replace 45 PL goals from the last 1.5 seasons in a single summer. What could go wrong?
  20. I don’t know how this hasn’t happened before, but my wife saw him today. She may never recover. ”Who is that?”
  21. The entire league hates Tindall.
  22. So nice having Miggy being able to play first time with his left.
