  1. Going to be very interesting where we do our buying. I'd be very surprised if it's all these PL players popping up in links.
  2. They were out on the 13th. We kicked off our season on the 17th.
  3. I still think we're going to sell at least one of Bruno, Joelinton, Gordon, or Barnes (assuming we don't sell Isak). I think the only way that maybe won't happen is if we qualify for the CL and even then I think it's pretty likely.
  4. It's been quite surprising, I must say. Helps when their manager has no excuses and nothing bad to say. It's amazing how this all unfolded. Obviously any way of winning would have been fine (penalties, controversy, easy run, etc.) but the way it all happened has left everyone with nothing to complain about. We beat the best teams, we thoroughly outplayed the likely league runners-up over two legs, and then dominated the champions elect in the final. There's no "if only that had gone in" or "the xG shows we'd likely have won on another day" or "Newcastle cheated this way or that." Which is also why the only thing left for anyone to say, if you don't want to just let the fans enjoy it, is to bring up Saudi.

Follow-up question: Until two days ago we were part of a different group of clubs who have won the league and FA Cup but have never won the League Cup. Can you name the remaining nine clubs in this list?

Can you name the 15 clubs that have won the three main domestic trophies? (note: all of them have also won at least one Charity/Community Shield so if you want to make that a big four it's the same question) This question inspired by Newcastle United now being one of them
  10. Don't worry, I think we get £100k for winning the cup. Finances sorted.
  11. I just watched the first video like 10 times in a row. That roar is next level. 55+ years of emotion.

The last few days of his life must be impossible for him to even comprehend.

    Lewis Hall

Will make Hall, Gordon, and Botman hungry to do it again.
  14. That's probably been bothering him for months. 10/10 powerpoint timing. There's nothing he can't do.
  15. Really unsure how the rest of the season is going to play out. I want to believe we're going to ride an incredible wave of momentum and finish top 5 comfortably. Our recent patchiness in the league may be down to the final and just like 2022/23 we may take off from here. But it wouldn't be altogether shocking if our season just peaked and we find it difficult to be switched on for 10 more games (and so be it if that's what happens). Never been so happy about an international break.
  16. They aren't guaranteed home draws, but still ridiculous. The more "the others" can disrupt things like this the better. This season it was Villa instead of Chelsea (though they still drew Barrow at home). Next season could be Forest and us (or Brighton / Bournemouth) instead of Man United and Spurs. Steal as many trophies, league places, and European spots as possible and some of these rules will start to disappear.
  17. CL qualification off the heels of a trophy win would put us in such a strong position for the summer. We'd be in total control of where we want to take the squad. The new format also makes it much more likely we could get at least to the playoff round and there's more money available than last time. The Europa League would be a fun consolation with a likelihood of progressing far and a possibility of winning it. The money can become decent if you make it far enough too. There are some famous clubs, but at least half of the teams in the final eight of this year's conference league have Championship-level revenues. There are spending disparities in all competitions, but the gap is a bit extreme for the top PL clubs.
  18. Conference League really doesn't do much for me. The PL has such a financial advantage that it lessens the appeal.
  19. Think that's right back to 2013/14. Man City (all three) Chelsea (all three) Liverpool (all three) Leicester (league and FA Cup) Man United (both cups) Arsenal (FA Cup) Newcastle United Football Club (League Cup)
  20. Think someone said he’s still recovering. Foot up, etc. Must be tough for him to not be involved.
  21. Local Hero sounds more triumphant this morning.
  22. So glad we didn’t fluke a cup win with Pardew around the time Birmingham, Swansea, and Wigan were all winning trophies. This is how it was meant to be.
