  1. Don't worry, I think we get £100k for winning the cup. Finances sorted.
  2. I just watched the first video like 10 times in a row. That roar is next level. 55+ years of emotion.

    Dan Burn

The last few days of his life must be impossible for him to even comprehend.

    Lewis Hall

Will make Hall, Gordon, and Botman hungry to do it again.
  5. That's probably been bothering him for months. 10/10 powerpoint timing. There's nothing he can't do.
  6. Really unsure how the rest of the season is going to play out. I want to believe we're going to ride an incredible wave of momentum and finish top 5 comfortably. Our recent patchiness in the league may be down to the final and just like 2022/23 we may take off from here. But it wouldn't be altogether shocking if our season just peaked and we find it difficult to be switched on for 10 more games (and so be it if that's what happens). Never been so happy about an international break.
  7. They aren't guaranteed home draws, but still ridiculous. The more "the others" can disrupt things like this the better. This season it was Villa instead of Chelsea (though they still drew Barrow at home). Next season could be Forest and us (or Brighton / Bournemouth) instead of Man United and Spurs. Steal as many trophies, league places, and European spots as possible and some of these rules will start to disappear.
  8. CL qualification off the heels of a trophy win would put us in such a strong position for the summer. We'd be in total control of where we want to take the squad. The new format also makes it much more likely we could get at least to the playoff round and there's more money available than last time. The Europa League would be a fun consolation with a likelihood of progressing far and a possibility of winning it. The money can become decent if you make it far enough too. There are some famous clubs, but at least half of the teams in the final eight of this year's conference league have Championship-level revenues. There are spending disparities in all competitions, but the gap is a bit extreme for the top PL clubs.
  9. Conference League really doesn't do much for me. The PL has such a financial advantage that it lessens the appeal.
  10. Think that's right back to 2013/14. Man City (all three) Chelsea (all three) Liverpool (all three) Leicester (league and FA Cup) Man United (both cups) Arsenal (FA Cup) Newcastle United Football Club (League Cup)
  11. Think someone said he’s still recovering. Foot up, etc. Must be tough for him to not be involved.
  12. Local Hero sounds more triumphant this morning.
  13. So glad we didn’t fluke a cup win with Pardew around the time Birmingham, Swansea, and Wigan were all winning trophies. This is how it was meant to be.
  14. Eddie Howe in the League Cup with Newcastle United Tranmere (a) - W, 2-1 Palace (h) - D, 0-0 (win on pens) Bournemouth (h) - W, 1-0 Leicester (h) - W, 2-0 Southampton (a) - W, 1-0 Southampton (h) - W, 2-1 Man United (Wembley) - L, 2-0 Man City (h) - W, 1-0 Man United (a) - W, 3-0 Chelsea (a) - D, 1-1 (lose on pens) Forest (a) - D, 1-1 (win on pens) Wimbledon (h) - W, 1-0 Chelsea (h) - W, 2-0 Brentford (h) - W, 3-1 Arsenal (a) - W, 2-0 Arsenal (h) - W, 2-0 Liverpool (Wembley) - W, 2-1 17 games - 13 wins, 3 draws, 1 loss 10 clean sheets 8 wins, one draw at home 4 wins, two draws away Beat five of the Big Six The only non-penalty shootout defeat came in a final at Wembley Outrageous record and a Trippier error/penalty shootout from it being even better.

    Kevin Keegan

Pretty wild to think that Keegan's time was closer to the Fairs Cup win than it is to today's trophy.
  16. I'd have been annoyed in the past if we had finished 5th/6th and not gotten Europa League but now that we win trophies I'm annoyed this is only Conference League. Anyway, we're storming into the CL now anyway.
  17. I love this part of it. I hope he’s here for an incredibly long time, but the weight is lifted. The lack of respect he gets nationally, the overreactions in this thread. None of it matters now. His name is etched in the club’s history forever.
  18. Very interesting. Completely different circumstances but he did the same in the Villa preseason match that was right before we played them in the first game of last season. And then we blitzed them.
  19. Thoroughly outplayed the top two teams in the league in the semifinal and final. Two of the clubs trying to keep us down off the pitch as well. It wouldn’t have mattered how it happened ultimately, but definitely adds to the enjoyment.
  20. So happy for the players as an exclamation point on the first post-takeover era. Thrilled for the manager, who is now deservedly a club legend regardless of what happens from here. And especially happy for all of you and your parents and your kids and your grandparents. Unreal.
  21. Loves Saka, which I can't blame him for. But loves Bruno more than anyone.
  22. Pretty sure my son would fully succumb to becoming an Arsenal supporter if that happened. For that reason it simply can't happen.
